1 October 8 th 9 th : NO SCHOOL. Happy Thanksgiving! October 10 th 12 th : EXPERIENTIAL WEEK for High School students. October 24 th PARENT COUNCIL 7:00 pm October 30 th HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA PRODUCTION: Nightmare High 7:00p. Fundscrip gift cards are once again available through NCS! Every purchase benefits our school. Please visit our website for more information and an order form. THANK-YOU to Groenenboom Farms for generously supporting our 2017/2018 Academic Awards! IN THE SCHOOL October 3-31 will see the Altered Realities Exhibition on display in the foyers of NCS. It features the works of Canmore-based artist David Foxcroft and Calgary-based artist Kristine Zingeler. In these works, both artists use the process of layering to create complex photographic collages. The seventeen works in this exhibition describe both the familiar and unreal. Each artist s approach bridges several complex processes and requires precise techniques. Assemblage, collage, photography and digital manipulation are combined, and together, they comprise altered realities. Please drop by the school to view the exhibit. SENIOR HIGH DRAMA PRODUCTION On October 30 th, the High School Drama group will be putting on the comedy-thriller Nightmare High School at 7:00 PM in the NCS gym. Join us to see six high school students join forces one stormy night, staking out the bare stage of their school auditorium to discover the identity of the mysterious Locker Stalker. What begins as a half-hearted joke turns into a roller coaster evening of thrills, chills and side-splitting laughter as each student s nightmare comes to life onstage! Please be mindful that children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. Admission is one non-perishable food item. Dress rehearsal will start at 1:00pm if you wish to view the play then.

Competition will be in both individual and group poetry events. Spectators are welcome, however content is mature. NCS High School Drama Production On Wednesday, December 12 at 7:00 the NCS High School Drama group with be presenting The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery. The play begins when the players at The Murder Mystery Playhouse are rehearsing a new show, Putting a Little English On It. It s a not-so-good attempt at a British murder mystery, complete with cheesy dramatic music and British accents. As expected at the final dress rehearsal, the lights go out and a character dies onstage only this murder wasn t in the script! The authorities are quickly called, and soon the company finds themselves replaying the death scene. It all culminates in a wild surprise ending in which the actors must work together to defeat the murderer before he murders them all. Come and join us for this fantastic comedy thriller. Please be mindful that children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. Admission is one nonperishable food item. Dress rehearsal will start at 1:00 if you wish to view the play then.
3 Hello Parents, Students and Staff: With the weather predictions looming, it s hard to remain optimistic sometimes, but I m really excited about this month at Noble Central. September has come and gone, but that means that students are hopefully adjusting to the routines and expectations of their teachers. Their subject content is starting to sink in, and the fruits of the work that goes into preparing a classroom will start to be seen. Changes to the exterior of the building have begun (aka the long awaited pavement is awesome!), and will be ongoing throughout the month. I m truly impressed with what has been happening here so far. Our golf season has come and gone, and our volleyball teams are in full swing. Moving through town, you can catch glimpses of our cross country team training in preparation for their upcoming meet. Our athletes are working hard, and performing admirably in their competitions. Our growing arts programs are gearing up for their productions in the next couple of months. Check the newsletter for the dates and times. It s an exciting time to be a Blade! Ask your grade 7-12 students about their Experiential Learning Week choices that have come out. For the second year, we are running ELW, with the goal of providing students with hands on, authentic, learning experiences. We have 8 new options for students this year, ranging from a dance class to a University of Lethbridge learning experience. This is an awesome week of learning and fun, and hopefully students find things that they are passionate about or learn what they are not passionate about. We are proud to be at the forefront of this type of learning opportunity and would be happy to have community members coming in to offer their areas of expertise to our students. If you are interested, please contact me at the school. As usual, none of these amazing learning opportunities would be available without the support of our community as a whole. This is truly a great place to be! GO BLADES!! Greg Rollingson Principal Noble Central
