The Panthers won the 2006 and 2007 meetings with George Mason, including a win in Fairfax on Jan Brittany Hollins will play in her 111th game and make her 100th consecutive start, the sixth longest active starting streak in the NCAA. SERIES RESULTS: 4th Meeting - Georgia State leads, 2-1 2nd Meeting in Fairfax- Georgia State leads, 1-0 THE OPPONENT: LAST GAME: New head coach Jeri Porter brought a highly-successful 10-year head coaching experience to George Mason this year to re-build a program that was 8-21 and 9-21 the previous two years. Sophomore guard Brittany Poindexter has 10 double-figure scoring games and averages almost 10 per game. Sophomore Eugenia Broadus leads with almost 7 rebounds a game. Six-foot senior Whitney Ward adds nine points a game to a squad that has struggled offensively, averaging just 52 points a game. These teams have played only once a year in the CAA s rotation schedule. The Panthers claimed a win last year on Valentine s Day in Atlanta with Danyiell McKeller scoring 25 points and Brittany Hollins adding 20 more points in that game. THURSDAY GAMES: George Mason fell to Drexel, 71-52, as the 8-3 Dragons made nine three-point baskets. Georgia State played its eighth straight game without leading scorer and rebounder, McKeller, and fell to Towson, 61-54, despite leading by nine with 11 minutes left. 2 Panthers Rank Among NCAA Leaders Georgia State s name is among national leaders in several NCAA statistical category in the rankings among the 340 Division I women s teams (Jan. 30). The stats come out each Monday and Friday. The Panthers defense stands in the No. 6 spot in steals per game, averaging 12.9 steals per game. That includes school record-setting game of 31 in the win over Presbyterian at the Sports Arena. The top 10 NCAA teams in steals (Monday): 1. Georgia Tech Duke North Carolina Wake Forest Pepperdine GEORGIA STATE (12.67 now) 7. East Tennessee State Delaware State USF Texas A&M Miami 12.3 Georgia State sits in the No. 6 position in turnover margin per game, with a of opponents turnovers forced vs. turnovers made. Coach Lea Henry s Panthers would probably be among the national leaders in turnovers forced (497, 23.7), but that is not a ranked category. The Panthers were in the top 100 of the 340 teams in a variety of categories. State ranked No. 49 in assists per game (15.1), No. 56 in assist-turnover ratio, No. 96 in scoring defense (59.7). Georgia State s got a pair of players with 50 or more steals. Brittany Hollins is No. 24 (57, 2.7) and Jylisa Williams is No. 46 (54, 2.6). Crystal Johnson has 42 steals to give State three with 40 or more. Johnson is No. 21 in assists per game (5.6) and No. 94 in assist/turnover ratio in the nation (+33). CAA RANKINGS (Feb. 2) In the CAA, Georgia State is No. 1 in turnover margin, No. 1 in steals. The Panthers are No. 2 in assist/turnover ratio and No. 3 in assists. State is No. 4 in scoring margin, No. 4 in scoring offense, No. 4 in field goal percentage. Individually, the Panthers are Nos. 2, 4 and 8 in steals with Hollins, Williams and Johnson. Point guard Crystal Johnson is No. 2 in assists, is No. 3 in assist/ turnover ratio and No. 9 in free throw percentage (.733). Danyiell McKeller was No. 8 in scoring and No. 6 in field goal percentage. Brittany Graham is No. 5 in three-point baskets made. Chandra Harris is No. 8 in field goal percentage (47.1) and Brittany Hollins is No. 12 in field goal pct. Jylisa Williams is No. 11 in scoring. But, the 41- and 40-points wins on Dec. 2 and 5 mark the first time a Panthers team has done that in back-to-back games. The most 40-point wins in a year were 3 by the first-ever Georgia State team of That team beat Georgia Tech by 61 and 47 points in two meetings that year as well as USF by 46. So, this year s team would need one more 40-point win to tie that school record. The last time State won two games by 40 or more points in a season was with wins over Morris Brown and Samford.

The Panthers were a school-best ever No. 30 on Dec. 4, but slid after winning four of its next five games. State s first three opponents on the road (Clemson, Georgia Tech and Charleston) are a combined with 12-11, 16-5, and 15-5 records, respectively. Georgia State s highest wins are over Old Dominion (then 57) and Clemson (No. 97) with losses at Georgia Tech (No. 27) and at ODU (then No. 57). State s 146 RPI puts them 7th in the rugged CAA with VCU at No. 49, Old Dominion at No. 69, James Madison at No. 78, Drexel at No. 110, Towson at No. 116, and Hofstra at No Delaware is at 154 with William and Mary at 157, meaning 10 of the CAA s 12 teams are in the top 50% of the 340 schools. The CAA is ranked 9th overall of the 32 conferences. The TEAM Concept Georgia State has had 7 different players score in double figures in the 20 games: Williams 16 times, McKeller 10 times, Hollins 9 times, Johnson 8 times, Harris 5 times, Graham 5 times, Olsen 3 times. FRESHMAN BACKCOURT All 13 players have scored this season and all 13 have grabbed a rebound. A total of 12 players have made a steal and 12 have made an assist. However, the active roster is now down to 11. Six different players have had a 20-plus point game already this season: Brittany Hollins 26 at UAB Danyiell McKeller 24 at Clemson, 23 vs NU Jylisa Williams 23 vs. La Lafayette Chandra Harris 22 vs. Winthrop Crystal Johnson 21 vs Old Dominion Dana Olsen 20 vs. La Lafayette Freshmen Jylisa Williams (4) and Crystal Johnson (23) have started every game in the backcourt this season for the Panthers. Johnson is No. 2 in the CAA in assists (114, 5.4, is No. 3 in assist/turnover ratio (1.4), is No. 4 in minutes played (35.0) and is No. 8 in steals (42, 2.0). She s had four or more assists in 18 of the 21 games. Williams is No. 4 in the CAA in steals (54, 2.6), is No. 11 in scoring (11.6) with 16 double-figure games. 4 Georgia State Basketball Notes - Page 4 RECRUIT CLASS MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT Georgia State s Recruiting Class that ranked No. 52 in the nation is showing its potential to boost the team s success. GRAHAM BRITTANY GRAHAM leads the team in three-point baskets (37,.333). Her 131 points (6.2) rank seventh on the team. She has 12 steals, with 20 assists and 45 rebounds. The junior college transfer led her team last year with 48 three-point baskets. Graham scored 17 points in her debut game win at Clemson, 16 at Drexel on Jan. 15 and 15 at Towson. DANA OLSEN is third on the team in free throw percentage with 35-for-51. Free throw shooting is a trademark of hers after making 204-of-244 last year (.836) in junior college play. Olsen has three double-figure games, including 12 in her first-ever game in the win over Clemson and 20 points in the win over Louisiana Lafayette. Olsen has 66 rebounds (sixth on team), plus 22 assists, 13 blocks and 11 steals. CRYSTAL JOHNSON has started every game at point guard and is second in the CAA in assists (5.4 per game). She is third on the team and 8th in the CAA in steals with (2.0 per game). She is averaging 8.1 points per game, with 21 in the win over ODU, 19 at Towson and 15 in the win over MVSU. She is +33 in assists to turnovers and ranked No. 3 in assist/turnover ratio. OLSEN JYLISA WILLIAMS has started every game at the two-guard spot and averages 11.6 points per game. She has 16 double-figure scoring games. Williams has helped create bad passes and turnovers with her aggressive defense and is fourth in the CAA in steals (2.6 per game). The freshman also has 46 assists (2.2 per game) and 100 rebounds (4.8). In their 20 games as Panthers, the four have combined for 676 points (32.2 per game), 269 rebounds (12.8 pg), with 202 assists (9.6 pg) and 119 steals (5.7). These numbers an more when realizing that the top seven scorers and top six rebounders were returning for Georgia State. McKELLER S BEEN STELLAR JOHNSON Junior forward DANYIELL McKELLER, last year s second leading scorer at 10.9 points per game, had roared out of the gate in She has twice been named the CAA Player of the Week and to the Blazer Invitational All-Tournament team this season. She injured her knee on Jan. 11 and has not played since. She was averaging 13.2 points per game (8th CAA) after a 24-point day at Clemson, a 23-point night vs. NU and a 19-point evening at Tech. She had scored in double figures in 10 of 13 games, and one of those was when she was hurt and did not score. She has three games with double-figure rebounds this year and 12 career double-figure rebound games. McKeller was shooting 48% from the field and 65% from the free throw line with 31-of 48 made. She also led the team in rebounds with 75 (5.8 per game) and chipped in on defense with 19 steals.. WILLIAMS The junior now has 33 career double-figure games, including 8 career double-double games. Scoring is natural for McKeller after leading her North Carolina high school conference in scoring and setting the school scoring record with 1,585 points.

5 Georgia State Basketball Notes - Page 5 HEAD COACH LEA HENRY Lea Henry enters her 15th season as the head coach of the Georgia State University women s basketball program and 19th year overall at the helm of an NCAA Division I team. Henry already holds the record for most career wins at State with 229 and has won 20 or more games in a season four times. She has been a Conference Coach of the Year three times and has been named the Georgia Division I Coach of the Year three times by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Henry has led State to five conference regular season championships and three conference tournament championships. Her State teams have earned three NCAA bids and one WNIT bid. She is an inductee in the Class of 2006 Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and the Class of 2005 University of Tennessee Lady Vol Hall of Fame. 8 Georgia State Basketball Notes - Page 8 HOLLINS: NUMBERS ADD UP TRAVELING WITH THE PANTHERS The Panthers will cover 7,165 miles this year during the four and a half month basketball season. Prior to joining the CAA in 2005, Georgia State traveled 3,975 miles to play that last season in the Atlantic Sun. In its first season of basketball, Georgia State drove 1,378 miles in vans to play its inaugural season. Three are high school seniors and the fourth is a junior college transfer. The four signees, listed alphabetically: Tiffany Anderson 5-10 G Albany, Ga. (Dougherty High) Angelique Burtts 5-11 F Conyers, Ga. (East Miss. CC/Rockdale HS) Erika Sumpter 6-1 F Orangeburg, S.C. (Wilkinson HS) Jerlisa Taylor 5-6 G Douglasville, Ga. (Douglas Co. HS) Anderson, who grew up attending Lea Henry s Camp of Champs in Albany, was a double-double producer as a junior at Albany s Dougherty High. The 5-10 small forward/guard averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds, while also making five steals and five assists a game for Coach Charlene Jackson. She also has gained experience with the AAU s Georgia Blazers. Burtts is currently the leading scorer for East Mississippi Community College with a pair of 20-plus point games to start the season. Burtts played at Middle Tennessee State. At Rockdale County High, she had a stellar senior season with 20 points, seven rebounds, plus four assists and four steals a game for the 24-6 Bulldogs. The McDonalds High School All-American nominee was highly recruited throughout the southeast, including the University of Georgia. She was a two-time pick for third-team All-State honors and the Rockdale Citizen s two-time women s Player of the Year. Sumpter, from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School, was a Class 4A (largest schools) first team All-State pick in South Carolina by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association after a junior season of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game for Coach Joshua Staley. Sumpter scored 20 or more points five times during her junior season and pulled down 14 rebounds in a game eight times. Her team won more than 20 games and was in the top 10 in the state. She gained more experience with the Palmetto 76ers AAU squad. She is the daughter of Bobby and Sandra Sumpter. Taylor, from Douglas County High in suburban Atlanta, had a stellar junior season with averages of 11.6 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.3 steals. She made 27 three-point baskets for Coach Chester Forsh s 22-6 Tigers. Taylor scored 20 points in a post-season game and had three games with six assists in On defense, the quick 5-6 guard had a season-best eight-steal game and two games with 10 or more rebounds. She plays AAU ball for the Douglasville Tigers. She is the daughter of Robin Taylor. Taylor scored 20 points Tuesday night in her team s opener.

(November 24, 2008) Georgia State s Danyiell McKeller and Drexel s Garbriela Marginean have been named CAA Co-Players of the Week. Georgia State s Crystal Johnson has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week. McKeller, a junior forward from Fayetteville, N.C., poured in 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in leading Georgia State to a win over Clemson, The 5-11 forward stepped up when needed with 16 second-half points and eight points in the final five minutes of the game. McKeller s Saturday efforts included 10-of-18 field goals, but six-of-eight in the second half from the field and fourof-four from the free throw line. The double-double game is the seventh of her career at Georgia State. Johnson, a 5-6 freshman point guard from Gainesville, Fla., played 38 of the 40 minutes in her first game at Georgia State. She scored 11 points, made four assists and had five steals, while blocking a shot and grabbing a rebound. With State leading with 35 seeconds left in the game, Clemson fouled Johnson and sent her to the line for a one-and-one free throw situation. Two swishes later, State had a lead. Richmond, Va (Dec. 8) Junior forward Danyiell McKeller has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the two Georgia State wins and her major role in those wins. Joelle Connelly of Hofstra has been named Rookie of the Week. McKeller shot a remarkable 79 percent from the field in leading the Panthers in scoring. Richmond, Va. (Dec. 22) Freshman guard Jylisa Williams has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the two Georgia State wins this past week and her major role in those wins. The 5-8 freshman from Atlanta s Stephenson High poured in 23 points in the win over Louisiana Lafayette and led the team again with 17 points in the win over Delaware State. In three games this past week, Williams scored 46 points, a 15.3 per game average, with 19 rebounds, a 6.3 per game rate. She was 9-of-10 from the free throw line and also had five assists and three steals. Richmond, Va. (Jan. 12) - Freshman point guard Crystal Johnson has been named CAA co-rookie of the Week. The 5-8 freshman from Gainesville, Fla. led the team to a pair of CAA wins over Northeastern and Delaware with her allaround play. This marks her second time to be recognized as she was chosen on Nov. 24. In those two games this past week, Johnson made 15 assists, grabbed 14 rebounds, scored 13 points and made a pair of steals. Johnson had a CAA seasonhigh and personal-best 11 assists (with just one turnover) in the win over Northeastern, while adding six rebounds and two steals. She followed that with 11 points and a team-best eight rebounds in the win over Delaware. Richmond, Va. (Feb. 2) - Freshman point guard Crystal Johnson has been named CAA Rookie of the Week. In this week s game, Johnson scored 38 points (12.7 per game), made 17 assists (5.7 game), and made 9 steals (3.9 per game). She shot 45% from the field (13-of-29) and 12-of-14 from the free throw line (86%). Johnson had her personal-best scoring game with 21 points, all in the second half, as she helped lead State to a win over first-place Old Dominion. She shot 7-of-10 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line, to go with 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Colonial Athletic Association Is Strong The CAA has placed three or more teams in postseason tournaments for three straight years, with Old Dominion advancing to the Sweet 16 last year and ranking in the Top 25 all year. Women s basketball in the CAA has ranked 11th, 9th and 8th in national conference RPI ratings among the 31 Division I leagues for the past three seasons. The 12-member CAA will play its conference championship this year on March on the campus of James Madison University. James Madison turned out a WNBA first round draft pick last year in Tamera Young, now a member of the Atlanta Dream.
