The RedHawks are the Pacific Coast League affiliate of the Houston Astros. CALL IT A COMEBACK: The Cubs scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the RedHawks 11-8 yesterday afternoon. RF Ryan Kalish greeted reliever Patrick Urckfitz with a three-run homer that gave the Cubs a 10-8 lead. Kalish has homered in each of the last two games in this series and recorded a season-high four RBI in yesterday s game. Four of his eight home runs this season have come against the RedHawks and the lefty has hit five of his home runs against southpaw pitchers. Yesterday s win was the Cubs 34th comeback win of the season and the team s sixth when trailing after seven innings. WINNING SEASON: Yesterday s win guaranteed the Cubs a winning record this season, the team s first since The Cubs will finish with a wining record at Principal Park for the 13th time in the last 14 years. Omaha beat Colorado Springs last night to clinch the American Nothern Division crown, but the Cubs will finish with the best record within divisional play. The Cubs enter play today with a record within the division. Omaha is JONNY ON THE SPOT: INF Jonathan Mota continued his strong finish to the season, going 2-for-5 with three RBI yesterday. Mota has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games and is batting.372 (16-for-43) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, seven runs scored, and seven RBI during this stretch. BROKEN RECORDS: The Cubs have set a franchise record and lead the league with 15 shutouts this season. The previous team record of 13 shutouts was set in The team has also set a record for most quality starts with 78. The previous high was 73 in Closer Blake Parker has 25 saves to tie the single-season franchise record set by Jermaine Van Buren in Parker is already the franchise s career leader with 66 saves. OKLAHOMA CITY: The Cubs lead this series 3-0 and have won five straight games against the RedHawks. The Cubs longest winning streak against the RedHawks is six games. The Cubs lead the season series 9-6 and will win the season series over the RedHawks for the first time since The Cubs lost two-of three in Bricktown, July 4-6, but won three-of-five in their second visit to Oklahoma City, July The teams split their first four-game set at Principal Park, July 11-13, including a double-header split on July 12. Last year, the Cubs and RedHawks split the season series 8-8, with both teams finishing 6-2 at home. The Cubs lead the all-time PCL series , including a mark at home. LEAGUE LEADERS: RH Blake Parker will become the first Cubs pitcher to lead the PCL in saves. The last Iowa pitcher to lead the league in saves was Laddie Renfroe in 1991 when the Cubs played in the American Association. INF Arismendy Alcantara was called up by Chicago on July 9, but his 11 triples still lead the PCL. Three players are tied for second with nine. Barring an unexpected result, Alcantara will become the eighth Cub to lead the league in triples and the third to lead the PCL. Brett Jackson was the last to do it in ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: 3B Kris Bryant went 1-for-3 yesterday, was hit by a pitch twice, and scored a run. Since joining the Cubs on June 19, Bryant leads the PCL in total bases (150) and is tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (36) and runs (54). He ranks second in OPS (1.043), is tied for second in home runs (21), is third in slugging (.625), and tied for third in RBI (51). In his first full season of pro ball, Bryant is batting a combined.326 (159- for-488) with 43 home runs and 109 RBI in 137 games between double-a and the I-Cubs this season. Bryant leads all of minor league baseball in homers, extra-base hits (78), total bases (324), slugging (.664), and OPS (1.102). He is second in RBI, runs scored (115), and OBP (.438). JOE BAUMAN AWARD: Iowa-based Musco Lighting sponsors the Joe Bauman Award, presented to the top home run hitter in Minor League Baseball. Entering play today, Kris Bryant is vying for the title and leads Joey Gallo of Frisco by two home runs. Bryant would be the second I-Cub in four years to win the award. Bryan LaHair won with 38 home runs in 2011.

2 TODAY S STARTING PITCHER #43 Dae-Eun Rhee (2-2, 4.39) Height: 6-2 Weight: 190 Throws: Left Bats: Right Born: March 23, 1989 Opening Day Age: 25 Resides: Seoul, South Korea RH Dae-Eun Rhee makes his ninth appearance and eighth start for the I-Cubs today. His last start was on Wednesday, August 27 at Tacoma. He pitched 6.1 shutout innings and earned the win in the Cubs 3-2 victory. He allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out six to record his third quality start with Iowa. It was Rhee s third start of at least six innings without allowing an earned run with the I-Cubs this year. The Cubs are 2-5 when Rhee starts this year. SOUTHERN COMFORT: Rhee joined the I-Cubs on July 8 from double-a Tennessee where he was 5-4 with a 3.27 ERA (38ER/104.2IP) in 18 games (16 starts). He allowed 89 hits and 40 walks while striking out 61. At the time of his promotion, his ERA ranked 10th in the Southern League. GO THE DISTANCE: Rhee led the Florida State League with four complete games in 17 starts with high-a Daytona. Three of those complete games were seven-inning contests as part of double-headers and one was a rain-shortened five-inning game. One was a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Tampa in game two of a twin bill on July 1. He allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out six in his only career shutout. DOCTOR S ORDERS: Rhee has logged considerable time on the disabled list in his career. He was on the disabled list from April 15-July 19 last season with a right shoulder strain. He was also on the DL with a blister on his right middle finger, April 10-May 1, In 2009, he began the season on the disabled list while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He had the surgery on July 15, 2008 after 10 starts with single-a Peoria. vs. OKLAHOMA CITY: This is Rhee s third appearance and second start against the RedHawks. He has no record and a 5.19 ERA (5ER/8.2IP) with four walks and seven strikeouts in the season series. Rhee allowed one run on three hits in three innings in his only relief appearance on July 13 at Principal Park. His start was on August 9 at Bricktown. He allowed four runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings and left the game with the Cubs and RedHawks tied at four. Rhee didn t get a decision as the RedHawks went on to win 9-6.
