Pevey Career Record TONIGHT S GAME: The Iowa Cubs and New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, play the first game of a four-game series tonight at Principal Park. Iowa is third in the American Northern Division, 10.0 games behind Oklahoma City. New Orleans is in third in the American Southern Division, 9.5 games behind the Round Rock Express. CHASING THE CHASERS: Iowa swept a doubleheader with Omaha last night, taking game one 3-2 and game two 1-0. It took 10 innings to quiet the Storm Chasers in game one, but Kyle Schwarber came through with a walk-off RBI-double in the bottom of the tenth to give Iowa the win. Right-hander Dallas Beeler gave Iowa 6.1 innings of two-run baseball. Righties Neil Ramirez, Brian Schlitter and Blake Cooper combined for 3.2 scoreless innings to keep Omaha at bay. In game two, the I-Cubs got 6.0 scoreless innings from Carlos Pimentel who struck out nine Storm Chasers, an Iowa season-high. Right-hander Gonzalez Germen tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn his third save. Christian Villanueva had both of Iowa s hits on the night in game two, including an RBI-single in the first inning that would hold up in the seven-inning victory. Iowa has scored a combined seven runs in its last four doubleheader contests, and have won all four. GAFFES GALORE: Iowa s 69 errors are the third-most in the PCL. Iowa is also tied for 14th in the PCL in fielding percentage (.975). Iowa is 25-7 when committing zero errors, but when making at least one. Christian Villanueva leads the PCL with 17 errors in 55 games. GOTTA EARN IT: The I-Cubs lead the PCL in unearned runs allowed this season. Iowa has allowed 329 total runs, but only 273 have been earned. That s a difference of 56 unearned runs. Iowa has been outscored this season. NEW ORLEANS: Tonight is the first game of a fourgame series between the Cubs and Zephyrs, and the eighth game of 16 scheduled games this season. Iowa heads to New Orleans for the second time July 4-7. Last year, Iowa won the season series 11-5, going 5-3 at home and 6-2 in Metairie. In 2013, New Orleans won the season series Iowa leads the season series 4-3 thus far, and is against the Z s since the start of the 2013 season. Iowa has won 11 of its last 16 games against the Z s. The Cubs lead the all-time PCL series Iowa leads the all-time series against Marlins Triple-A affiliates TWIN-KILLINGS: The I-Cubs have turned 79 double plays this season, fourth-most in the PCL. Meanwhile, Iowa has grounded into 49 double plays, second-fewest in the league. Christian Villanueva and Chris Valaika have each grounded into seven double plays. HOMER HAPPY JUNE: Iowa has hit 23 home runs so far in 23 June games. The team hit 21 homers in 29 May contests, and 13 homers in 20 April games. Overall, Iowa has hit 57 home runs, led by Arismendy Alcantara s 10. GETTING HEALTHY: Infielder Mike Olt and right-hander Neil Ramirez joined Iowa Tuesday to continue their major league rehab assignments. The I-Cubs have now had five major league rehabbers this season after left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada, right-hander Dallas Beeler and right-hander Justin Grimm. THIRD IS A CHARM: Kyle Schwarber clubbed a triple for his first Triple-A hit in game one of yesterday s doubleheader. Schwarber s first career hit at Double-A Tennessee was a triple on April 9. His first major league hit with the Chicago Cubs was also a triple on June 17. SPEED KINGS: The I-Cubs are second in the PCL in stolen bases this season with 82. John Andreoli is third in the league with 18 swipes. Iowa is also third in the league with 24 triples. Arismendy Alcantara leads the PCL with seven triples, a year after leading the league with 11. Rubi Silva has four triples. LOOKING FOR LATE MAGIC: The I-Cubs are 4-25 when trailing after seven innings this season, and 3-25 when trailing after eight. When the opponent scores first, Iowa is 9-25.

2 TONIGHT S STARTING PITCHER #35 Frank Batista (0-0, -.--) Height: 5-10 Weight: 170 Throws: Right Bats: Right Born: April 26, 1989 Age: 26 Resides: Santiago, D.R. RH Frank Batista makes his season debut for the I-Cubs tonight. This will be his first career Triple-A start. Batista joined Iowa on June 24 from Double-A Tennessee. GOOD OLD ROCKY TOP: The right-hander left the Southern League leading the circuit with a 1.70 ERA (15ER/79.1IP). He was also tied for the league-lead with seven wins, fourth with 79.1 innings pitched, fourth with a 1.07 WHIP and fifth with a.219 opponents batting average. Batista was named a Southern League All-Star thanks to his work during the SL first half. He pitched a scoreless third inning in the SL All-Star Game on June 23. START ME UP: Prior to Batista s success as a starter this season for Double-A Tennessee, he had not started a game since 2010 with Single-A Peoria. Coming into the 2015 season, he had 20 career starts under his belt between the Chiefs (11 starts in 2010) and the Dominican Summer League Cubs (nine starts in 2009). WHAT A RELIEF: Batista made 83 appearances out of the bullpen for Tennessee from 2012 to 2014, and collected 53 saves. His 24 saves in 2012 led the Southern League and the entire Chicago Cubs organization. His 19 saves in 2013 tied for second in the league. In 2011, he led the Florida State League with 51 appearances for Advanced-A Daytona to go along with 26 saves. In total, Batista has 85 career saves, including one with Iowa in KNOCK THREE TIMES: Batista joined Iowa June 24 for his third stint with the team. The Dominican Republic native appeared in six games for Iowa in 2012, and eight in During his first two stints, he went 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA (8ER/14.2IP) and seven strikeouts in 14 games out of the bullpen for the I-Cubs. LOCKED AND LOADED: Batista signed with the Chicago Cubs as a non-drafted free agent on January 1, He made his professional debut later that season with the Dominican Summer League Cubs. He went 4-2 with a 3.55 ERA in 15 games for the DSL Cubs, including nine starts, with 63 strikeouts in 58.1 innings. vs. NEW ORLEANS: Tonight is Batista s first career start against the Zephyrs, and first career start in the Pacific Coast League. He did face the Z s in relief on May 6, 2012, when he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in 1.0 innings.
