The BlueClaws scored once against Cam Vieaux in the fifth inning on a Danny Zardon RBI double. Lakewood s Ranger Suarez held the Power scoreless over seven innings, striking out 10. In the bottom of the ninth with two down and a pinch runner on first, Logan Ratledge took second on a pitch in the dirt, moved to third on a throwing error and scored on a bobble by center fielder Carlos Duran to tie the game. Lakewood scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th, keyed by a missed catch, and shut the Power down in the home half of the inning for the win. Jordan Jess suffered the loss and Will Hibbs notched the victory. TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT: In eight home games this season, West Virginia is averaging 2.4 runs per game and has gone 1-7. Of those seven losses, the team has gone to extra innings four times and has also lost four one-run games. In seven road games, the Power scored an average of 8.7 runs per game with an average margin of victory of 4.8 runs. The Power hold the all-time series lead with 95 wins over 179 games and have gone at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia and Lakewood play six times during the final four weeks of the season. The BlueClaws have edged the Power in 12 of their last 16 meetings. STREAK SHOW: Ty Moore went 1-4 on Wednesday, extending his hitting streak to nine straight; each game he has played this season. The outfielder s streak is the longest by a West Virginia Player this season and second longest in the league behind a ten-game run from Rome s Randy Ventura. Stephen Alemais, Kevin Mahala and Sandy Santos have each hit safely in seven straight entering play tonight. ANDERSON ON TAP: Matt Anderson will start this evening for West Virginia. The right-hander is making his fourth appearance and his third start. In a relief outing on April 7 in game one of a doubleheader, Anderson allowed three runs on two hits and suffered a loss. Over two starts, he is 1-0 with a 5.73 ERA, having allowed 7 earned runs on 15 hits over 11 innings. QUALITY WORK: Cam Vieaux went six innings on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits. It was Vieaux s second quality start of the season in three chances. The southpaw was lifted after four and a third in his first start of the season after throwing 78 pitches. Vieaux has allowed one run in each start, now totaling 16 and a third innings pitched this season, good for a team-best 1.65 earned run average. FIRST IN A WHILE: Lakewood s roster features outfielder Mickey Moniak, the first overall selection of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft. The teenager did not play Thursday, but would be the first top overall pick to play a game in Charleston since Bryce Harper in When Harper played at Appalachian Power Park during a late April series that year, he was the first top pick since Tim Beckham with Bowling Green (Tampa Bay) in 2009 to play in Charleston. POWER POINTS: The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Jose Osuna from Triple-A Indianapolis and he made his Major League debut as a pinch hitter on Tuesday night. He becomes the 59 th former Power player to reach the Majors and second in the last week... Logan Ratledge had his eight-game hitting streak stopped last night by going AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh was off on Thursday and hosts the New York Yankees at PNC Park tonight Tyler Glasnow gets the start for Pittsburgh... Indianapolis lost 4-1 to Durham. Clay Holmes pitched six shutout innings, but didn t factor in the decision... Altoona was idle... Bradenton dropped a 6-1 final to Clearwater.
