The Braves have lost 15 of their last 17 games at Petco Park, getting outscored over this stretch that dates to August 29, They won consecutive games, June 8, 2016 and June 27, 2017 for their only victories in this span. The Braves have hit six total home runs over this 16 game stretch, including none in their last nine games here. DRAFT: The Braves made two selections on Day 1 of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft last night, picking RHP Carter Stewart of Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Fla., eighth overall before taking OF Greyson Jenista from Wichita State University 49th. The Braves have now selected a pitcher with their first pick in the First-Year Players Draft for four consecutive seasons, taking RHP Kyle Wright in 2017, RHP Ian Anderson in 2016 and LHP Kolby Allard in Anderson was the last high schooler the Braves drafted in the first round prior to Stewart. Jenista is the highest collegiate outfielder drafted by Atlanta since 1991, when the club selected Mike Kelly out of Arizona State University second overalll. The Braves will pick eighth in each round through the draft s conclusion. ROSTER MOVE: The Braves today selected the contract of RHP Luke Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett and placed RHP Julio Teheran on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb contusion. Jackson joins the Braves for the third time this season...he was up from April 4-April 15 and then again from May 6-May 8. Jackson is 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA (4 ER/21.1 IP) in 10 games, one start, with Triple-A. NEWCOMB: LHP Sean Newcomb has won six consecutive decisions, compiling a 2.16 ERA (14 ER/58.1 IP) over the 10-game streak that dates to April 8...The left-hander dropped his season debut before starting his hot stretch. Newcomb finished May 5-0 with a 1.54 ERA (6 ER/35.0 IP) and no home runs allowed in six starts. His five wins last month were the most in the majors, while he ran his homerless innings streak to His 1.54 ERA ranked sixth best in the N.L., while his batting average against of.158 was the lowest in the league among qualifying pitchers. He allowed 19 total hits in 35.0 innings last month to become the first Braves player in the last 110 seasons to make at least six starts in a month and allow 19 hits or less...in fact, only one other Braves pitcher ever allowed just 20 hits in six starts during a calendar month: Wade Blasingame in September of Blasingame allowed 20 hits in 23.2 innings over six starts, but pitched past the fifth inning in just one start that month.
