JULIO: RHP Julio Teheran went 6.0 no-hit innings with 11 strikeouts Sunday to become the sixth (eight times overall) Atlanta pitcher to not allow a hit in a start of at least 6.0 innings and the first since RHP Aaron Harang went 7.0 innings on April 18, 2014 at New York (NL) He became just the second Atlanta pitcher to strike out double digits in a no-hit outing Kent Mercker fanned 10 in his no-hitter on April 8, 1994 at Los Angeles (NL). The staff fanned 17 Padres Sunday, the club s most in a nine-inning games since September 14, 2012, when they also struck out 17 vs. Washington. YOUNGSTERS IN CANADA: With tonight s game, RHP Mike Soroka (20 year, 319 days) will become the youngest Canadian-born pitcher to start in his native country since Milwaukee s Barry Cort (21 years, 18 days) tossed a complete game in a 6-2 win at Toronto on May 3, Ryan Dempster (21 years, 62 days) is the only other Canadian 21-years-old or younger to start in Canada when he went 3.1 innings for Florida on July 4 at Montreal. THE ROTATION: The Braves rotation allowed just two total runs over the just completed homestand, helping the Braves to a 5-1 record...the starters compiled a 0.50 ERA (2 ER/36.0 IP) and held the opposition to 17 hits and six walks...the Mets and Padres compiled a.404 OPS against the Braves starters and scored all of their runs on a two-run home run by José Pirela in the first inning against Brandon McCarthy on June 15.
