ROSTER MOVE: The Braves today recalled RHP Lucas Sims from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned LHP Max Fried to the Stripers...This will mark Sims second stint with the club this season...he was also up from April 15-April 19. Sims, 23, allowed three runs, earned, while getting one out in his only appearance with the Braves this season. The right-hander went 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA (2 ER/12.1 IP) in three games, three starts, with the Stripers...He tossed 5.0 scoreless innings in his last start on April 30 at Charlotte. Fried went 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA (4 ER/6.0 IP) in four games out of the bullpen with Atlanta. FIRST INNING: The Braves led 2-0 after the first inning yesterday and have now scored a MLB-high 34 runs in the first inning this season. They also have the most hits (49) and doubles (14) and are tied for the most home runs with 10. The club also has a.355 batting average and a.703 slugging percentage in the first inning, both tops in the majors. The Braves lost last night despite taking a lead into the second inning and are now 10-3 when ahead after the first. DEBUT: 3B José Bautista made his Braves debut last night, doubling in his first at-bat and cleanly fielding all four of his chances. In 12 career at-bats at SunTrust Park, Bautista is hitting.500 with three doubles and a home run, while slugging NICK MARKAKIS: OF Nick Markakis extended his hitting streak to a Braves season-high 11 games last night, finishing 2-for-4 with his sixth home run of the season. Markakis was credited with a second hit, an eighthinning single, after the official scorer changed his call from E-5 to a base hit following the game. The outfielder is hitting.455 (20-for-44) with four home runs, eight walks and just one strikeout during his run, which dates to April 23. Markakis.341 average and 42 hits are both tops in the N.L.
