MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: The Dodgers continue their final homestand of the season (1-0) and play the Giants in the middle game of their three-game series following last night s 2-1, walk-off win. The Dodgers are a season high-tying 20 games over.500 and, with 12 games to play in the regular season, Los Angeles leads the Giants by 6.0 games in the NL West, its largest lead of the season. The Dodgers magic number to clinch the club s fourth consecutive division title is seven. Following the Giants series, the Dodgers will battle the Rockies for four games before their season-ending trip to San Diego and San Francisco. The Dodgers remaining 12 games are all against divisional opponents (5 vs. SF, 4 vs. COL, 3 vs. SD) and the club has gone (.578) against the NL West. Since 2014, Los Angeles is just overall against San Francisco, but has held the upper hand in the series in the season s second half. During the last three seasons, after the All-Star break, the Dodgers are 13-5 against the Giants in games following the Midsummer Classic, including an 8-2 mark at Dodger Stadium. Eight of the 14 matchups between the Dodgers and Giants this year have resulted in one-run games, with the teams splitting those contests, 4-4. RALLY CAPS: The Dodgers rallied for two runs in the ninth inning last night on consecutive hits by Andrew Toles, Corey Seager, Justin Turner and Adrián González, whose RBI double gave Los Angeles its sixth walk-off win of the season. Including last night, which marked the 10 th walk-off hit of his career, Gonzalez s last three walk-offs have all come late in the season against the Giants (also: Sept. 12, 2013 and Aug. 31, 2015). Toles started the rally with a pinch-hit single and came around to score the tying run. He s posted a.389/.450/.611 slashline as a pinch-hitter this year, going 7-for-18 with two doubles, a triple, a walk and a hit by pitch in 20 pinch-hit appearances. Turner, who is hitting.325 (37-for-114, 13 th NL) with RISP, has driven in a run in six consecutive games, the longest streak of the season by a Dodger and tied for the second-longest run of his career (best: 7, May 14-21, 2011). HILL-TOPPER: Rich Hill will make his fifth start as a Dodger (3-1, 1.48 ERA, 4 ER/24.1 IP) after suffering his first loss Thursday at Arizona since May 1, snapping a career-best nine-game winning streak. Hill has allowed just 10 hits (10-for-82,.122) while striking out 28 against just three walks in 24.1 innings as a Dodger, and overall, he leads the Majors (min IP) with a.183 opponents batting average. He also ranks among the Majors best in ERA (2.06, 4 th ), WHIP (0.96, 4 th ) and strikeouts per 9.0 innings (10.58, 8 th ). Tonight s game will be a rematch of Los Angeles Aug. 24, 1-0 win over the Giants, when Hill allowed five hits in 6.0 scoreless innings in his Dodger debut to outduel Johnny Cueto, who allowed just one run on four hits in 6.0 innings. CALL HIM ROY: Dodger shortstop Corey Seager already holds the Los Angeles rookie record for hits (182), runs (99) and doubles (39), currently has the highest on-base percentage of any LA rookie (.372) and remains in the mix for the top marks in batting average (.313, behind Mike Piazza:.318, 1993), slugging percentage (.522, behind Piazza:.561, 1993) and home runs (25, behind Joc Pederson: 26, 2015 and Piazza: 35, 1993). Overall, the Dodgers rank among the Major League leaders in ERA (3.68, 4 th ), opponents batting average (.230, 2 nd ), strikeouts (1404, 1 st ), WHIP (1.18, 2 nd ) and shutouts (15, 1 st ).
