After an off day on Monday, the long homestand will continue next week with a pair of three-game series against the NL Central s Cardinals and Cubs. YOUTH MOVEMENT: 20-year-old Dodger phenom Julio Urías will take the mound for the Dodgers tonight, making his fifth start of the season and his first career start against the Marlins. The southpaw last pitched on May 14 at Colorado allowing a career-high six earned runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings, taking his first loss of the season in the Dodgers 9-6 defeat. Despite the rough outing, Urías has been solid since joining the starting rotation on April 27, going 0-1 with a 3.43 ERA (8 ER/21.0 IP) and limiting the opposition to a.222 batting average. In his last 10 starts, he has gone 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA (12 ER/50.0 IP) and has struck out 40 batters in 50.0 innings, while holding batters to a.233 average. Dodger rookie sensation Cody Bellinger continued to swing a hot bat, as he blasted his eighth home run of the season last night in just his 23 rd Major League contest with a two-run shot in the eighth inning. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Bellinger became the fastest Dodger to reach eight home runs to start his career, surpassing Yasiel Puig s record of hitting eight long balls in his first 27 big league games. Since his promotion on April 25, he leads the National League in home runs and RBI (23), while ranking among the best in the senior circuit in runs scored (19, T- 4 th ), slugging percentage (.651, 7 th ) and hits (25, T-15 th ). The reigning NL Rookie of the Year Corey Seager recorded his 12 th multi-hit game of the season last night, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a double and a walk. Seager, who scored his team-leading 28 th and 29 th run of the season yesterday, is currently tied for ninth in the National League in runs scored and since making his big league debut on September 3, 2015, he ranks second among Major League shortstops with 151 runs scored. He has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, batting.317 (13-for-41) with 11 runs, four doubles, one home run and four RBI. STRONG START: Following another stellar outing by last night s starter Alex Wood, who allowed just six hits in 7.1 shutout innings, the Dodger starting staff leads the National League in victories (20) and WHIP (1.19). The starters also are rank among the best in the Senior Circuit in ERA (3.43, 2 nd ), strikeouts (240, 2 nd ), opponents batting average (.243, 4 th ), opponents OPS (.695, 1 st ), strikeout-towalk ratio (3.43, 1 st ), strikeouts per nine innings (8.84, 2 nd ) and fielding-independent pitching (3.74, 1 st ). Overall, the Dodger pitching staff currently leads the big leagues with a 3.28 ERA (139 ER/381.0 IP) and a 1.18 WHIP while ranking first in the NL in opponents OPS (.674) and strikeouts (410). Since his promotion, he ranks among the National League leaders in batting average (7 th ), on-base percentage (4 th ) and OPS (1.054, 9 th ). Dodger outfielder Brett Eibner, who was recalled prior to last night s contest for his fourth stint with the club, blasted his second home run of the season with a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Eibner, who has hit home runs in two straight games for the Dodgers, has gone 4-for-13 (.308) with three runs and four RBI in six games with Los Angeles this season. GOT YOUR BACK: Despite allowing two runs in last night s contest, the Dodger bullpen leads the National League in ERA (3.03) and WHIP (1.17), while ranking among the best in the NL in strikeouts (170, 2 nd ), strikeouts per nine innings (11.20, 1 st ), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.70, 1 st ), home runs per nine innings (0.72, 3 rd ) and fielding independent pitching (2.68, 1 st ). Kenley Jansen has been lights out this season, striking out 32 of the 60 batters he has faced and has not issued a walk. The only pitcher in the modern era to begin a season with more strikeouts before their first walk was Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals, who fanned 35 before his first walk. Jansen currently ranks among NL relievers in saves (8, T-5 th ), strikeouts (2 nd ) and ERA (1.13, 9 th ). In addition to the everyday brilliance of Kenley Jansen, Dodger relievers Pedro Baéz and Josh Fields are pitching very well this season, with both ranking in the top-10 among NL relievers in ERA. Fields 0.53 mark (1 ER/17.0 IP) ranks second while Baéz s 1.10 ERA (2 ER/16.1 IP) ranks eighth. Baéz has allowed just seven hits on the season (7-for-55) and his.127 opponents batting average ranks fifth among NL relievers. Fields has fanned 22 batters and is averaging strikeouts per nine innings, which ranks second on the club and 15 th among NL relievers. COMEBACK TRAIL: Dodger starter Kenta Maeda made his first rehab start last night with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits in 4.0 innings and struck out one against two walks. Maeda, who has been on the DL since May 11 with right hamstring tightness, is slated to return to the big league club on Thursday when the Dodgers take on the Cardinals. Dodger infielder Logan Forsythe reached base safely in all four plate appearances last night for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, going 1-for-1 with two runs and three walks in seven innings. Forsythe, who has been on the DL since April 19 with a broken toe, will play seven innings at third base with the Quakes tonight for his fifth rehab game. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM: Earlier today, The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) dedicated its 46th and 47th Dodgers Dreamfields at Darby Park. Adrián González and his wife, Betsy, provided support for the construction of both fields as well as a contribution to offset expenses related to uniforms, equipment and various resources for Dodgers RBI players in Inglewood. Following the dedication, Darby Park participants were joined by boys and girls from Rogers Park and Edward Vincent, Jr. Park for a clinic, which was conducted by González, Alex Wood and the GBG Training Academy.
