Following this international series, the Dodgers begin a six-game homestand against the D-backs (two games) and Cincinnati Reds (four games) on Tuesday night next week. The Dodgers are 4- against the Padres this season, following a three-game sweep in San Diego from April Los Angeles outscored San Diego, 3-1, in that series. In just his third big league start, Buehler fired 6. scoreless innings and fanned eight Padres on the way to his second victory. Buehler also collected his first Major League hit in the game. The no-no was the 23 rd in Dodger franchise history and the 13 th since moving to Los Angeles. The Dodgers no-hitter last night will also go in the books as the first no-no outside of the United States or Canada. Dodger outfielder Tim Locastro also collected his first big league hit with a double in the fourth inning. A TASTE OF JAPAN IN MEXICO: Dodger right-hander Kenta Maeda will make his sixth start of the season tonight in Mexico against the Padres as he looks to record his third victory of the year. Maeda last pitched six days ago on Sunday afternoon in San Francisco vs. the Giants and allowed four runs and five hits, while getting handed his second loss of the season. In five starts this season, Maeda has struck out 34 batters against 1 walks in 26.1 innings, while averaging strikeouts per nine innings and posting a 3.42 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Maeda ranks third in the NL in strikeouts per nine innings, trailing just Max Scherzer (12.9) and Patrick Corbin (11.74). In 1 career games (nine starts) against the Padres, Maeda is 4-3 with a 4.72 ERA (25 ER/47.2 IP) and 59 strikeouts. The right-hander beat San Diego on April 18 at PETCO Park, yielding four runs and eight hits in 5.2 innings while striking out 1 batters. Maeda also struck out a career-high 13 Padres on July 1, 216. DUGIE DOES IT: Rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo is making a good first impression in 218 and went 2-for-4 with an RBI last night, and has now reached base safely in all six games he has played. Since being recalled for the second game of last Saturday s doubleheader in San Francisco, Verdugo is hitting.381 (8-for-21) with four doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and two walks in six games. The Dodgers took a trip to Monterrey during Spring Training in 1991 for a two-game exhibition against Industriales de Monterrey and the Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers also played exhibition games in Mexico City prior to the 1964 season against the Red Devils and in 23 against the New York Mets. This weekend s games will mark the Dodgers second time playing regular season games abroad (excluding games in Canada), following a two-game sweep of the D-backs in Sydney to open the 214 season. This is Major League Baseball s eighth regular-season series outside of the Unites States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
