1 Arizona Diamondbacks (9-3) vs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS (4-7) RHP Zack Greinke (-1, 5.6) vs. RHP Kenta Maeda (1-,.) Friday, April 13, 218 7:1 p.m. Dodger Stadium Los Angeles, CA Game 12 Home Game 7 Night Game 8 TV: SportsNet LA, KTLA, SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 57 (English); KTNQ 12 AM (Spanish) WE NEED THE ANTI-VENOM: The Dodgers tonight take on the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second time this year, following Arizona s three-game sweep last week at Chase Field, which ran the Dodgers losing streak against the Snakes to nine games the longest regular season winning or losing streak for either team in the 21-year history of the series. Los Angeles had lost eight consecutive games to the Diamondbacks on two previous occasions in 25 and 212. Following the weekend series with Arizona, the Dodgers travel to San Diego for the first time in 218 and play three games with the Padres Monday-Wednesday before returning home Friday to face the Nationals. The nine-game regular season skid against the Diamondbacks began on Aug. 29, 217, but prior to that game, the Dodgers were (.686) in games against Arizona dating to the start of the 214 campaign, including a 27-8 mark at Dodger Stadium (.771). GOOD OMEN: According to STATS, LLC, the Diamondbacks have lost seven consecutive games on Friday the 13 th, dating back to 21. In that time, the Dodgers have gone 5-2 on Jason s favorite day. Also according to STATS, LLC, the Dodgers are -6 this season when allowing the opposing team to score first. Three other teams (Nationals, Royals, and Rangers) have yet to win when allowing the opposition to cross home plate first. NO FREEBIES: The Dodgers 3.61 ERA ranks eighth in the NL, but they are making the opposition earn it as their 28 walks are the fewest in the league. The only team in baseball to issue fewer free passes than the Dodgers are the Oakland A s, who have walked 26 hitters. KENTA DAY (FINALLY!): Dodger right-hander Kenta Maeda will take the mound tonight for his second start of the season, 13 days after his first start against the Giants on March 31 (5. IP, ER. 5 H, 1 K). Maeda has also made one appearance out of the bullpen, tossing a scoreless inning on April 7 at San Francisco. This season marks the Japanese right-hander s third with Los Angeles and last year he went 13-6 with one save and a 4.22 ERA in 29 games (25 starts). Maeda, who turned 3 on Wednesday, also positioned himself as a weapon out of the bullpen last year, going 1- with a 2.25 ERA (2 ER/8. IP) in four relief outings during the regular season and then 2- with a.84 (1 ER/1.2 IP) in nine games during the 217 Postseason. In his last start, Maeda fanned at least 1 batters for just the second time in his career, with the other instance coming on July 1, 216 vs. San Diego, when he struck out a career high 13 Padres. Maeda is 3-3 with a 4.72 ERA (29 ER/55.1 IP) in 11 career starts against the Diamondbacks, but has been strong against the Arizona at Dodger Stadium, going 1- with a 2.28 ERA (7 ER/27.2 IP) while posting a.194 opponents batting average in five starts.
