1 LOS ANGELES DODGERS (80-61) at Miami Marlins (70-72) RHP Kenta Maeda (14-8, 3.29) vs. RHP Jose Urena (3-6, 5.54) Sunday, Sept. 11, :10 p.m. ET Marlins Park Miami, FL Game 142 Road Game 68 (33-34) Day Game 39 (26-12) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (Eng.)/KTNQ 1020 AM (Span.)/AM 1540 (Kor.) SERIES BY SERIES: The Dodgers rebounded from Friday s loss in a big way last night, belting four home runs and retiring the first 23 Marlins in order on their way to a 5-0 shutout victory over Miami. In the rubber match this afternoon, Los Angeles is seeking its third consecutive series win as it continues a season-long 10-game road trip (1-1). The Dodgers lead San Francisco by 4.0 games in the NL West and, following the game today, the Dodgers will fly to New York for three with the Yankees, before heading to Phoenix for a four-game set with Arizona next weekend. The Dodgers final homestand of the 2016 season will be on Sept against the Giants (3) and Rockies (4). The Dodgers are 9-6 all-time at Marlins Park and last night they snapped a franchise-long five-game losing streak against the Fish. The Dodgers are in their 45 series this year and in the final game of a series in NOW THAT S RICH: Dodger left-hander Rich Hill tossed 7.0 perfect innings last night, becoming the first Dodger to do so since Hiroki Kuroda on July 7, 2008 vs. Atlanta. Kuroda lost his perfect game-bid by giving up a double to Mark Teixiera to lead-off the eighth. According to SABR s Trent McCotter, Hill became the first pitcher in baseball history to be removed from the game with a perfect game intact. Hill has allowed one hit to the opposition in their last 48 at-bats dating to Aug. 24. With Los Angeles, he is 3-0 while tossing 19.0 scoreless innings in three starts. DOING IT ALL: Corey Seager, a top candidate for National League Rookie of the Year honors, went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI last night and continues to rank among the NL leaders in hits (174, T-1 st ), runs (95, T- 3 rd ), doubles (39, 2 nd ), total bases (294, 4 th ), batting average (.319, 3 rd ), multihit games (52, 2 nd ), extra-base hits (67, 6 th ) and slugging pct. (.539, 7 th ). Seager s 25 home runs are the most ever by a Dodger shortstop and the third most by a Los Angeles rookie, behind only Mike Piazza (35, 1993) and Joc Pederson (26, 2015). He already holds the Los Angeles record for doubles and runs scored by a rookie and currently has the highest on-base percentage by an LA rookie, while approaching the team single-season rookie leaders in most major offensive categories: Los Angeles Rookie Leaders, Since 1958 Category Seager (Rank) Leader Hits 174 (T-2 nd ) Sax (180, 1982) Runs 95 (1 st ) Seager Doubles 39 (1 st ) Seager Home Runs 25 (3 rd ) Piazza (35, 1993) Average.319 (1 st ) Piazza (.318, 1993) SLG.539 (2 nd ) Piazza (.561, 1993) OBP.378 (1 st ) Piazza (.370, 1993) Corey (25) and his brother Kyle (28) have combined to hit 53 home runs this year, which is currently tied for eighth all-time among brother duos and the most since Justin and Melvin Upton combined for 54 in The record is 61, held by Jason (41) and Jeremy (20) Giambi (2002). SOURCE: Elias Sports Bureau According to Elias, the Seagers are the first set of brothers in baseball history to each hit at least 25 home runs. THE LONGBALL: With their four home runs last night, the Dodgers are averaging 1.23 home runs per game this year (173 HR/141 G), their most since 2004 (1.25 HR/G). Four Dodgers have powered 20+ home runs Justin Turner (26), Yasmani Grandal (25), Corey Seager (25) and Joc Pederson (22) marking just the seventh time in Los Angeles history and the first time since 2001 that four or more players have done so. Pederson, who hit two home runs last night, needs three more homers to give the Dodgers four players with at least 25 home runs for the first time since the 1997 campaign when Mike Piazza (40), Eric Karros (31), Todd Zeile (31) and Raul Mondesi (30) all belted at least 30. Yasmani Grandal leads Major League catchers with a careerhigh 25 home runs, matching the most by an LA backstop (primary position) since Paul Lo Duca s 25 homers in In 50 games since the All-Star break, the Dodgers rank among the Majors best in team average (.267, 6 th ), slugging percentage (.452, T-4 th ) and runs per game (5.04, 3 rd ). The Dodgers slugging pct. is on pace to be the highest in Los Angeles history after the All-Star break, outpacing the previous mark of.434 set in MATCHUP vs. MARLINS Dodgers: 1 st, NL West (4.0 GA) Marlins: 3 rd, NL East (14.0 GB) All-Time: LA leads series, (9-6 at Marlins Park) 2016: LA trails series, 1-5 (1-1 at Marlins Park) April L, 2-3 W: Chen L: Stripling S: Ramos April L, 3-6 W: Koehler L: Kershaw S: Ramos April L, 0-2 W: Nicolino L: Kazmir S: Urena April L, 3-5 W: Fernandez L: Maeda S: Ramos Sept. Triple-A Oklahoma City beat Nashville 7-1 last night behind Alfredo Figaro (7.0 IP, 1 R) and home runs by Corey Brown, Cody Bellinger and Jack Murphy. The OKC Dodgers forced a Game 5 at 4:35 PT for the right to play in the PCL championship series against either El Paso or Tacoma. Single-A Great Lakes was victorious last night by a 5-2 score over Bowling Green and will move on to the Midwest League championship, which starts tonight against Western Michigan. Rookie-level Ogden won, 7-4, over the Orem Owlz in Game 2 of their best-of-three series and this afternoon at 3:05 PT, the Raptors will move on to the Pioneer League finals. MAEDA-SAN: Kenta Maeda ranks among big-league rookies in wins (14, 1 st ), strikeouts (156, T-1 st ), innings (153.0, 1 st ) and starts (27, 1 st ), and a win today would move him into sole possession of second place for victories as a Dodger rookie trailing only Rick Sutcliffe s 17 in 1979 (17-10). Overall, Maeda has won six of his last seven decisions and has limited opposing hitters to a.218 batting average, the ninth-best mark in the NL. Maeda lost his only start against the Marlins this year on April 28, yielding four runs and seven hits in 6.2 innings. NEVER FORGET: This afternoon, the Dodgers, Marlins and all of Major League Baseball will remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 by wearing caps with a side patch of the American flag during the games. There will also be pregame ceremonies, special lineup cards and a moment of silence in honor of those who perished. GOLDEN GLOVEWORK: The Dodgers have been the Majors best fielding team this year, leading the big leagues in fielding percentage (.988) and committing the fewest errors of any team (64-tied with the Tigers and Nationals). THE BIG MAN: Dodger closer Kenley Jansen retired the only batter he faced last night and ranks among the National League s best in saves (43, 2 nd ), ERA (1.75, 3 rd ), opponents batting average (.148, T-1 st ), WHIP (0.65, 1 st MLB) and strikeouts (91 in 61.2 innings, T-4 th ). Jansen is one save shy of matching his career high of 44, set in 2014, and has posted just the seventh 40-save season in franchise history. The Dodger bullpen ranks second in the NL in both ERA (3.33, 186 ER/503.0 IP) and opponents batting average (.216), while leading the league in WHIP (1.14). SHOOT OFF THE FIREWORKS: The Dodgers Friday placed RHP Carlos Frias on the 60-day disabled list, giving them 28 different players on the DL this year, which is the most for any team in the last 30 years since at least The mark eclipsed the 2012 Boston Red Sox, who had 27. (Source: Stats, LLC). JUST 13 GAMES LEFT FOR THE GREATEST: Dodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully is scheduled to call just 13 more games for the Dodgers, a team he has worked for since Next Friday, Dodger fans can salute Vin as the club will honor its longtime voice Sept. 23, prior to the game vs. Colorado, with Vin Scully Appreciation Day. The festivities will include special guests, an on-field ceremony with Vin and his family, as well as a video tribute. For tickets, go to dodgers.com/lalovesvin.
