Individually, Dodger outfielder Joc Pederson collected a career high four hits and Chase Utley ripped three doubles in one game for just the second time in his career. Maeda last pitched on Tuesday vs. the Marlins and was sharp, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven in 6. innings. In four starts this season, Maeda has struck out 29 batters against just six walks in 19.1 innings, while averaging 13.5 strikeouts per nine innings and posting a 4.83 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Among qualified starters, Maeda ranks second in the Majors in strikeouts per nine innings (trailing only Robbie Ray) and is also 1 th in the National League in strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Dodgers also rank second in the NL in fewest walks allowed, having issued 78 free passes, five more than the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have walked 73. The Dodgers have averaged 1.13 strikeouts per nine innings, which leads the NL and ranks third in the Majors, trailing just the Astros (1.3) and Yankees (1.28).
