BREAK OUT THE BROOMS: The first-place Dodgers take on the Phillies in the finale game of their three-game series and continue their seven-game road trip (2-0) following last night s 7-2 victory. Following tonight s game, the Dodgers will move on to Cincinnati for a four-game set to conclude the trip. Los Angeles is in sole possession of first place in the NL West, 1.5 games ahead of the Giants, for its biggest divisional lead since April 26. The Dodgers trailed San Francisco by a season high 8.0 games on June 26. The Dodgers are a season-high 15 games over.500 for the second time this year (also: Aug. 9, 64-49). The Dodgers have clinched the season series over the Phillies (4-1) for the second consecutive season and a win tonight would give the club its first sweep in Philadelphia since June 4-7, 2012 in a four-game series. The Dodgers have won four in a row at Philadelphia and are 12-3 in their last 15 games at Citizens Bank Park dating to the start of the 2012 season (22-11 overall). RETURNING HOME: Chase Utley made his dramatic return to Philadelphia Tuesday with the 23 rd multi-homer game of his career (second of the season), including his seventh-career grand slam (second this year). Utley has posted a.292/.375/.506 slashline in 758 career games at Citizens Bank Park, placing second in ballpark history in hits (811), doubles (163), home runs (129) and RBI (465), and ranks among the Phillies modern-era franchise leaders in games played (1551, 7 th ), hits (1623, 9 th ), runs (949, 6 th ), doubles (346, 5 th ), home runs (233, 6 th ), RBI (916, 7 th ) and walks (625, 10 th ). Joe Blanton also returns to Philadelphia this week, where he played five seasons from Blanton was a key member of the club s 2008 World Series run, going 2-0 with a 3.08 ERA in three starts, including a solo home run with World Series Game 3. BANGED UP: The Dodgers have had 26 players on the DL this year, the most ever by a National League club and the second most by any team in the last 30 years since 1987, behind only the 2012 Red Sox (27). Adam Liberatore (left elbow inflammation) is expected to be activated tomorrow after making two rehab appearances with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City. Liberatore last pitched in the Majors on July 29 and has posted a 1.62 ERA in 44 games with the Dodgers this year. HILLTOPPERS: The Dodgers lead the Major Leagues with 1,113 strikeouts and are on pace to set a club record for Ks, averaging 9.32 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (previous best: 8.69 SO/9 in 2015). By defensive efficiency, which measures turning balls in play into outs, the Dodgers rank second in the Majors, trailing only the Cubs, with a 70.9% efficiency rating according to Baseball-Reference.com. In 28 games since the All-Star break, the Dodgers lead the NL in team batting average (.281, 287-for-1023), slugging percentage (.473, 1 st MLB), while ranking second with 5.57 runs per game (156 R). Yasmani Grandal continues to lead the NL in both home runs (13) and slugging percentage (.716, min. 100 PA) in 33 games since June 30, batting.321 (35-for-109, 14 th, NL) with a.439 on-base percentage (3 rd, NL) in that span.
