1 Detroit Tigers (4-1) at Los Angeles Dodgers (5-3) RHP Max Scherzer (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Dan Haren (1-0, 0.00) Tuesday, April 8, :10 p.m. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA Game 9 Home Game 4 (1-2) Night Game 5 (3-1) TV: SNLA, MLBN, SNLA Spanish RADIO: AM 570 KLAC (ENG), KTNQ 1020 AM (SPAN) EARN YOUR STRIPES: The Dodgers open Interleague Play with the first of two games against the Tigers, marking the earliest by calendar date and game number that the club has ever faced an American League opponent. Los Angeles last faced the Tigers in 2011, taking two of three games at Dodger Stadium, and has a 9-6 alltime record against Detroit, including a 6-3 mark at home. The clubs will also meet for a two-game set in Detroit July 8-9. The Dodgers went 12-8 in Interleague Play last year, their first winning season against the AL since 2004 (10-8,.556). Tonight will mark the Dodgers second sellout of the season. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a zip-up hooded sweatshirt presented by Time Warner Cable. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On Sunday, the Dodgers established a modern franchise record (since 1900) for most hits, seven, without a single. Los Angeles had three doubles and four homers to best the previous record of five, set on June 25, 2002 (three doubles, two homers) in a 4-0 win over the Rockies at Dodger Stadium. Hanley Ramirez had three of the Dodger extra-base hits on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, two homers and two RBI, marking the 15 th multi-homer game of his career and third game of his career with double-digit total bases. Ramirez had a career-high 11 total bases on Sept. 11, 2007 (Washington at Florida) and had 10 total bases on Sept. 19, 2013 (Dodgers at Arizona) in the Dodgers division-clinching victory. Matt Kemp posted the sixth multi-homer game of his career with a solo shot in the second inning and a two-run homer in the fourth. It was the first time that a pair of Dodgers had multi-homer games since April 18, 2009 vs. Colorado, when Andre Ethier and Manny Ramirez each had two. THUNDER DAN: Dan Haren won his Dodger debut on Wednesday at San Diego, allowing only an unearned run on four hits and striking out six in 6.0 innings in Los Angeles 5-1 victory. The 33-year-old has won four consecutive decisions against the Tigers dating to the start of the 2008 season, going 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA (10 ER/36.2 IP) in five starts. Haren tossed a pair of complete games against the Tigers in 2011, with a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory on July 5 in Anaheim and a win on July 30 at Comerica Park, when he allowed one run on six hits in a 5-1Angels triumph. Haren has gone 18-9 (.667) with a 3.83 ERA (90 ER/211.2 IP) in 32 career Interleague starts. With six strikeouts and zero walks in his Dodger debut, Haren continued his career-long trend of efficiency: Active Leaders, Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio 1. Dan Haren 4.09 (1742/426) 2. LEFT IS RIGHT: Andre Ethier has hit.400 (6-for-15) with a double, a homer and three RBI in his career against the AL s reigning Cy Young award winner, Max Scherzer, and is a big reason why the right-hander has gone just 1-3 with a 4.15 ERA (16 ER/34.2 IP) in seven games (five starts) against Los Angeles. In fact, Ethier has done damage against all right-handed pitchers during the course of his career, ranking eighth among active players: Batting Avg. Leaders vs. RHP, Active Players 1. He is listed as day-to-day. GET WELL SOON: Earlier today, A.J. Ellis underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair a meniscus tear and was placed on the disabled list retroactive to April 6. The Dodgers recalled catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place on the active roster. Federowicz was optioned to Albuquerque on March 22, but remained with the club for its games in Australia and the Freeway Series. He appeared in only one game with the Isotopes on April 4 at Tacoma, going 0-for-2 with a walk. Brian Wilson made his second rehab appearance for Single- A Rancho Cucamonga last night in its game against Inland Empire, striking out one in a scoreless inning. HE S JUAN GOOD FIELDER: Prior to tonight s game, Juan Uribe will be presented with his 2013 Dodger Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award! Last year, Uribe ranked second among MLB third basemen with a.983 fielding percentage in 123 games (101 starts) at the hot corner, committing only five errors in innings.
