2 2013 SEASON NOTES COMEBACK STORY: The Dodgers went as the club clinched its 12 th National League West title since the advent of divisional playy in 1969 and qualified for the postseason for the 18 th time since moving to Los Angeles and the 27 th time in franchise history. The Dodgers wrapped up the division title on Sept. 19, the earliest by calendar date that the club has clinched since moving to Los L Angeles. By games played (153), the 1977 Dodgers clinched in game No and the 1995 club wrapped up the division in game No. N 143, but that was in a 144-game, strike-shortened season. The Dodgers became just the fourth all-time club to finish the season in first place after being in last place on July 1 or later. Though they were just 3.5 games out of first place following their 81 st game of the season (38-43) on that date, the Dodgers joined the 1995 Mariners (last place on July 16, Game No. 73), 1973 Mets (Aug. 30, Gamee No. 132) and 1914 Braves (July 18, Game No. 78) to pull off such a quick turnaround. Source: Elias Sports Bureau. The Dodgers are the fourth team in the Divisional Era (since 1969) to win a division in a season in which they were at least 12 games under.500 at one point. The others are the 1974 Pirates (14 under), Mets (13) and the 1989 Blue Jays (12). Source ESPN Statss & Info. The Dodgers finished the season 11.0 games ahead of Arizona, the largest margin that they have won the division by since movingg to Los Angeles in The 1953 (13.0 GA) and 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers (13.5 GA) are the only teams in franchise history to have finished the season in first place by a larger margin. According to Elias, the Dodgers became just the third team in MLB history to be 9.5 games behind and finish in first place by 10.0 or more games, joining the 1911 Philadelphia Athletics (won by 13.5 games) ) and 1914 Boston Braves (won by 10.5 games). According to research done by Retrosheet s David Smith, since 1901, the Dodgers are just the third team to be 12 games under.500 (or worse) and then improve to at least 22 games above the.500 mark in the same season, joining the 2009 Rockies (-12, +24) and the t 1914 Braves (-16, +35). MISSION OCTOBER: This will be the Dodgers first trip to the postseason under Manager Don Mattingly, who has guided the club too a winning record in his first three seasons ( ,.536), and their fourth time playing October baseball under General Manager Ned Colletti, following division titles in 2008 and 2009 and a Wild Card berth in Collettii has been to the postseason in eight of 17 years as a general manager and assistant general manager, while suffering a few close calls with his teams eliminated twice on the final day of the season and on the second to last day on two occasions. Since Colletti took the reins as Dodger general manager prior to the 2006 season, the club has the fourth-best record in the National League ( ,.532), behind only Philadelphia ( ,.549), St. Louiss ( ,.540) and Atlanta ( ,.533) A GOLDEN 50: Los Angeles had a record on June 22, tied for the fourth-worst record at (.689) in their last 90 games, including several historic stretches: From June 22-Aug. 18, the Dodgers went 42-8 (.840), which was the franchise s best 50- Los Angeles Dodgers Top Months by b mark in Baseball, 9.5 games behind Arizona in the NL N West. The Dodgers finished the season by posting the Majors best game run in the modern era (since 1900). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, thee Winning Pct. Los Angeles won 15 consecutive road games between July 7-Aug. 5, becoming the first NL team to win 15 in a row on the road since the 1957 Cincinnati Reds (April 22-May 27). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there have been only three longer single-season road winning streaks in MLB history: the Detroit Tigers (17, April 3-May 24, 1984),, New York Giants (17, May 9-29, 1916) and a Washington Senators (16, May 30-June 15, 1912). The Dodgers went unbeaten in 18 consecutive series (14-0-4) from June 18-Aug. 22. HILLTOPPERS: The Dodgers finished the season ranked second in the Majors with a 3.25 team ERA (behind only Atlanta 3.18), including an MLB-best 3.13 mark by the club s starters and a 3.49 ERA (9 th, NL) by the Los Angeles relievers. It was the Dodgers lowest team ERA since 2003 (3.16) and the lowest mark by the club s starters since the 1991 rotation postedd a 3.06 ERA. Los Angeles led the Majors with 22 shutouts, the most for the club since 1988 (24). The Dodgers also ranked among the NL leaders in strikeouts (1,292, 2 nd ) and opponents batting average (.243, 3 rd ). Since Rick Honeycutt became the Dodger pitching coach in 2006, thee team leads the Majors with a 3.71 ERA, a.248 opponents batting averagee and 9,836 strikeouts.

3 Clayton Kershaw (1.83) and Zack Greinke (2.63) combined to post the lowest ERA by a pair of Los Angeles starters at 2.17 (100 ER/413.2 IP) since Orel Hershiser (2.03) and Bob Welch (2.31) combined for a 2.14 mark (97 ER/407.0 IP) in PACKED HOUSE: With a home attendance of 3,743,527 in 81 home dates (46,216 average) and a road attendance of 2,863,247 in 81 games (35,349 average), the Dodgers became the first team since the 2010 New York Yankees to lead the Majors in both home and road attendance. Dating to at least 1988, no National League team has accomplished this feat. The Dodgers cumulative home/road attendance was 6,606,774, which was the highest combined total for an MLB team since The Dodgers surpassed three million fans in attendance for the 27 th time in club history and for the 17 th time in the last 18 years. The Dodgers home attendance of 3,743,527 was the highest mark for an NL club since Los Angeles drew 3,761,651 in Overall, it was the fourth-highest mark in franchise history and the 11 th -best mark in NL history. Los Angeles 29 sellouts were the most since 1983 (37). KERSH-AWESOME: Clayton Kershaw won his third consecutive MLB ERA title (1.83) as he became the first Major Leaguer to do so since Greg Maddux ( ) and the first-ever Dodger to accomplish the feat. The 25-year-old was selected to his third consecutive All-Star Game and also led the Majors with a 0.92 WHIP, while ranking among the NL leaders in strikeouts (232, 1 st ), innings pitched (career-high 236.0, 2 nd ), wins (16, T-3 rd ), opponents batting average (.195, 2 nd ), complete games (3, T-3 rd ), shutouts (2, T-1 st ) and pickoffs (7, 2 nd ) in his bid to become just the second Dodger to win the Cy Young Award (also: 2011) multiple times (Koufax, 1963, ). Kershaw s 1.83 ERA is the lowest mark by an MLB starter since Pedro Martinez posted a 1.74 ERA with Boston in 2000 and the lowest ERA for a National Leaguer since Maddux s 1.63 mark with Atlanta in It s the lowest mark by a pitcher with at least innings since Dwight Gooden s 1.53 ERA in 1985 with the Mets and the fourth-lowest single-season ERA by an NL lefty in the Live Ball Era (best since Sandy Koufax, 1.73 ERA in 1966). Koufax is the only other Los Angeles Dodger to record a sub-2.00 ERA season, doing so three times: 1963 (1.88 ERA), 1964 (1.74 ERA) and Kershaw was selected as the NL s July Pitcher of the Month, leading the league with a 1.34 ERA and ranking among the Senior Circuit s best in wins (4-1, T-1 st ), strikeouts (43, T-3 rd ), opponents batting average (.161, 3 rd ) and innings pitched (47.0, 1 st ) in six starts. During the month, he issued just two walks in 47.0 innings and tossed a four-hit shutout against the Rockies on July 2 at Colorado. It was his second monthly honor (also: July 2011). Kershaw opened the campaign with two wins and 16.0 scoreless innings in two starts, which earned him National League Player of the Week honors for the period of April 1-7. He previously won NL Player of the Week for the periods of June 20-26, 2011 and May 14-20, Kershaw allowed three or fewer earned runs in 22 consecutive starts from July 24, 2012-May 26, 2013, tying Mat Latos (2010), Chris Carpenter (2005) and Johan Santana (2004) for the longest such run since 2000 and the longest run by a Dodger starter since Orel Hershiser had a 27-game run from July 12, 1985-May 25, Kershaw made his third consecutive Opening Day start, posted a four-hit shutout and a hit tie-breaking eighth inning home run against the Giants on April 1. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kershaw became just the second pitcher in Major League history to hit a homer and throw a shutout in his team s season-opener. The only other was the Indians Bob Lemon, who threw a one-hitter vs. the White Sox on April 14, Kershaw became just the fifth pitcher in Dodger history to throw a shutout while allowing four or fewer hits and hitting a home run in the same game, joining Carl Erskine (June 10, 1955 vs. CHC), Stan Williams (July 6, 1960 vs. SF), Tommy John (Aug. 8, 1977 vs. CIN) and Chan Ho Park (Sept. 29, 2000 at SD). Elias also notes that Kershaw was the first starting pitcher to hit a home run in the eighth inning or later of a scoreless game since Sept. 16, 1971 when the Cubs Juan Pizarro hit one off Tom Seaver in the eighth inning to give the Cubs a 1-0 triumph at Shea Stadium. The Texas native became the first-ever Dodger pitcher to win The Roy Campanella Award, which was instituted in 2006, voted on by Dodger players and coaches and awarded to the player who best exemplifies the spirit and leadership of the late Hall of Fame catcher. Since making his debut in 2008, Kershaw leads the Majors in both ERA (2.60) and opp. batting average (.211). Clayton Kershaw Whitey Ford Sandy Koufax Spud Chandler Jim Palmer 2.86 ZACK ATTACK: Zack Greinke finished his first season in Dodger blue with a 15-4 record and a 2.63 ERA, the fourth-lowest mark in the NL. Greinke topped the NL with a.789 winning percentage and also ranked among the league leaders in wins (15, T-6 th ), opponents batting average (.234, T-13 th ) and WHIP (1.11, 10 th ). His ERA was the second-lowest mark of his career, behind only his 2.16 ERA during his 2009 Cy Young season. Greinke finished the season by going 7-1 with a 1.58 ERA (14 ER/79.2 IP) in his last 12 starts after July 30, including a single-season career-high seven-game winning streak from Aug. 5-Sept. 17. Greinke posted a.204 opponents batting average (59-for-289) and a 0.93 WHIP, while striking out 73 and walking only 15 in that span. From July 30-conclusion of the season, Greinke s ERA was the second-lowest mark in the Majors behind only Clayton Kershaw (1.55). Greinke was selected as the NL s Pitcher of the Month in August, when he was a perfect 5-0 in five starts, tying for the Major League lead in wins while posting a 1.23 ERA (five earned runs in 36.2 IP), which was good for the fourth-lowest mark among qualifying Major League pitchers. His.211 (28-for-133) opponents batting average was tied for the eighth-lowest mark among N.L. hurlers. The Florida native fanned 30 in his 36.2 innings of work while walking just eight batters.

4 Greinke posted his only shutout of the year on July 13 against the Rockies, allowing just two hits and striking out nine in the Dodgers 1-0 victory. Greinke suffered a fractured left clavicle on April 11 at San Diego when Carlos Quentin charged the mound after he was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning and underwent surgery on April 13 to fix the injury with a metal plate used to stabilize the fracture. He did not make his next start until May 15 after a stay on the disabled list. Greinke completed his third consecutive errorless season and has not committed an error since July 16, 2010, a span of 104 games. Greinke led Major League pitchers with a.328 batting average, 19 hits, six walks (T-1 st ) and a.400 on-base percentage at the plate. His batting average was the highest by a Dodger pitcher since Orel Hershiser s.356 mark in Los Angeles went 22-6 in Greinke s 28 starts. A MODEL OF CONSISTENCY: Adrian Gonzalez led Dodger qualifiers with a.293 batting average, 69 runs scored, 171 hits, 22 home runs and 100 RBI in a team-high 157 games. Gonzalez tied for fifth in the NL in RBI as he reached the 100-RBI mark for the sixth time in his career, joining Miguel Cabrera (7) and Prince Fielder (6) as the only players to reach the century mark six or more times in the last seven years. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Gonzalez is one of five active players to drive in 100 or more runs in a season with three different teams (Padres, Red Sox, Dodgers) along with Adrian Beltre, Aramis Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, and Alfonso Soriano. Gonzalez reached the 20-home run mark for the seventh time in the last eight years after barely missing the mark last year with 18 combined homers. He batted.323 with runners in scoring position, the 13 th best mark in the NL. Gonzalez was selected as the Dodgers nominee for the 2013 Roberto Clemente Award and is one of 30 Club finalists for the annual award, which recognizes a Major League Baseball player who best represents the game of baseball through positive contributions on and off the field, including sportsmanship and community involvement. Last year, Clayton Kershaw was selected as the national winner of the Clemente Award, becoming the second Dodger (Steve Garvey, 1981) to earn the prestigious honor. HAN RAM: Among players with 300 or more at-bats, Hanley Ramirez led the Majors with a.638 slugging percentage, ranked second with a.348 batting average and placed seventh with a.402 on-base percentage. Ramirez blasted 20 home runs in just 86 games, reaching the 20-homer mark for the sixth time in the last seven years and averaging a homer every at-bats (7 th, MLB). Ramirez batted.368 with runners in scoring position (25-for-68). The Dodgers went in the 77 games Ramirez started. Ramirez started the season on the DL after having right thumb surgery due to an injury suffered during the World Baseball Classic, returning to action on April 30, and also was shelved from May 4-June 4 with a left hamstring strain. Ramirez will appear in the postseason for the first time in his career and his 1,095 career games played rank as the fourth-most by an active National Leaguer without appearing in the postseason behind only Marlon Byrd (1,240), Reed Johnson (1,183) and Austin Kearns (1,125). PUIG MANIA: Yasiel Puig was recalled by the Dodgers on June 3 from Double-A Chattanooga and since that point, he ranked among the NL leaders in batting average (.319, 7 th ), hits (122, 5 th ), runs (66, 4 th ), home runs (19, T-7 th ), on-base percentage (.391, 8 th ) and slugging percentage (.534, 4 th ). Puig posted 36 multi-hit games in 104 games and finished the season tied for seventh in the NL with 13 games with three or more hits despite spending the season s first two months in the minors. Puig tied with Andre Ethier for the team lead with eight outfield assists. Puig s 19 homers ranked as the fifth-most by a Los Angeles rookie and were the most since Mike Piazza s 35 in His.319 batting average was the second-best by a Los Angeles rookie (min. 300 AB), behind only James Loney s.331 mark in Puig also ranked second among club rookies in on-base percentage (.391, behind Billy Grabarkewitz,.399, 1970) and third in slugging percentage (.534) Puig burst onto the scene in June and earned both National League Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month honors. He finished the month with a Major League-best (min. 75 PA).436 batting average, 44 hits and.713 slugging percentage, while ranking among the NL leaders in home runs (7, T-5 th ), RBI (16, T-15 th ), runs (19, T-3 rd ), total bases (72, 2 nd ) and steals (4, T-9 th ) in 26 games. It was just the fifth time since the Rookie of the Month Award was introduced in 2001 that a Player or Pitcher of the Month Award winner has garnered Rookie honors in the same calendar month. Puig joined Dontrelle Willis (FLA, June 2003), Ryan Braun (MIL, July 2007), Jeremy Hellickson (TB, May 2011) and Mike Trout (LAA, July 2012) as the only players to accomplish the feat. Puig was the first to win a Player of the Month Award in his first month in the big leagues since the award was instituted in Puig s 44 hits in June established a Los Angeles Dodger rookie record for most hits in a month, besting Steve Sax s 43 knocks in Aug Pete Coscarart holds the franchise rookie record for hits in a month with 48 in Sept His 44 hits ranked as the secondmost all-time for a player in his first career calendar month, behind only Joe DiMaggio s 48 hits in May Puig and DiMaggio are the only players in MLB history with at least 40 hits and four home runs in their first calendar month in the Majors.

5 SOLID RYU-KIE SEASON: Rookie left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu turned in a solid first MLB season and ranked among the top big league rookies in wins (14, T-2 nd ), winning percentage (.636, T-3 rd ), ERA (3.00, 2 nd ), strikeouts (154, 4 th ), innings pitched (192.0, 1 st ) and starts (30, T- 3 rd ). Ryu made 22 quality starts and pitched 6.0 or more innings in 24 of his 30 starts. Ryu s 14 wins tied with Kazuhisa Ishii (14-10, 2002) for the second-most by a Los Angeles rookie behind only Rick Sutcliffe s 17 Ws in Ryu tossed a pair of two-hit complete games this season (May 28 vs. LAA, Sept. 16 at ARI), becoming the first Dodger with multiple two-hitters in a season since Clayton Kershaw in 2011 (May 29 vs. Marlins, June 20 vs. Tigers). According to Baseball-Reference.com, Ryu was the first player to toss multiple two-hitters within the first 28 starts of his career since Dontrelle Willis in 2003, who accomplished the feat on June 16 vs. New York-NL and June 21 vs. Tampa Bay, though that game was a weather-shortened 5.0-inning affair. THE PEN: After a rough start to the season, the Dodger bullpen led the National League with a.208 opponents batting average and ranked second with a 2.76 ERA (48 ER/199.0 IP) after the All-Star break. Several Dodger relievers had breakout seasons: Kenley Jansen finished the campaign with a career-high 28 saves in 32 opportunities and ranked among the NL relief leaders in saves (T-11 th ), ERA (1.88, 6 th ), opponents batting average (.177, 7 th ), WHIP (0.86, 2 nd ) and strikeouts (111, 2 nd ). o Jansen was lights out from July 3-conclusion of the season, going 2-0 with 21 saves in 22 opportunities, a 1.26 ERA (5 ER/35.2 IP) and 52 strikeouts in 34 games. o He allowed just four hits all season with runners in scoring position, limiting opponents to a.068 average (4-for-59) with 23 strikeouts in those situations. o Jansen retired 27 consecutive batters from July 23-Aug. 8, including 15 strikeouts, becoming the first LA pitcher to retire 27 in a row since Greg Maddux in 2006 (32). In his first season with the Dodgers, J.P. Howell went 4-1 and ranked among the NL s best relievers in ERA (2.03, 7 th ), opponents batting average (.193, 9 th ) and WHIP (1.05, 16 th ) in 67 appearances this season. Howell limited lefties to a.164 batting average (18-for- 110) and closed out the season with 8.2 scoreless frames in his last 11 appearances after Sept. 7. Paco Rodriguez was thrown into the fire in his first full big league season, leading the Majors with 69 inherited runners and allowing only 14 of those to score (20.3%). Rodriguez ranked among the NL s top relievers in ERA (2.32, 12 th ), opponents average (.164, 3 rd ) and WHIP (0.90, 6 th ) in 76 appearances (3 rd ). The 22-year-old proved to be especially tough against lefties, limiting them to a.131 batting average (13-for-99) with 44 strikeouts. HEY, I JUST MET YOU: The Dodgers were active during the season with both trades and free agent signings to supplement their already strong stable of pitchers: Los Angeles acquired right-handed reliever Carlos Marmol, international signing bonus slot No. 92 valued at $209,700 and cash considerations from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for right-hander Matt Guerrier on July 2. After allowing runs in his first two appearances as a Dodger, Marmol closed out the year by tossing scoreless relief in 18 of his last 19 appearances and posting a 0.96 ERA (2 ER/18.2 IP) and a.131 opponents batting average (8-for-61) during the stretch. Overall, Marmol appeared in 21 games with Los Angeles and allowed just seven runs (six earned) in 21.1 innings pitched (2.53 ERA). Ricky Nolasco helped to stabilize the Dodgers rotation after he was acquired from the Marlins on July 6 along with international signing bonus slot No. 96 valued at $197,000 in exchange for minor league right-handed pitchers Steven Ames, Josh Wall and Angel Sanchez. Nolasco went 8-3 with a 3.52 ERA (34 ER/87.0 IP) in 16 games (15 starts) with the Dodgers and won a career-high sevenconsecutive decisions from Aug. 1-Sept. 9, when he went 7-0 with a 1.59 ERA (9 ER/51.0 IP) in eight starts. The Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Brian Wilson on July 30 and the three-time All-Star tossed scoreless relief in 17 of 18 games in the season s final two months, allowing just one run in 13.2 innings (0.66 ERA). Wilson held opponents to a.178 batting average (8-for-45) and allowed only one of 11 inherited runners to score. Edinson Volquez was signed as a free agent on Aug. 30 and appeared in six games (five starts) as a Dodger, going 0-2 with a 4.18 ERA (13 ER/28.0 IP). With Los Angeles, Volquez limited opponents to a.234 batting average (25-for-107), while striking out 26 and walking only eight. The Dodgers used a modern franchise-record 27 different pitchers this season. INJURY REPORT: Seventeen Dodgers made a total of 24 trips to the disabled list this year as the team was hampered by injuries early in the season. Four Dodgers underwent season-ending surgeries: Josh Beckett (July 10 to relieve pressure on a nerve caused by Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), Chad Billingsley (April 24, Tommy John Surgery), Scott Elbert (June 7, Tommy John Surgery) and Shawn Tolleson (April 25, herniated disk in lower back). Matt Kemp only appeared in 73 games due to three DL trips with a strained right hamstring (May 30-June 25), left shoulder AC joint irritation (July 8-21) and a sprained left ankle (July 22-Sept. 16). He was shut down for the season on Sept. 29 with a left ankle injury.
