1 DAILY NOTES NEW YORK STATE OF MIND: The Dodgers go for the three-game sweep of the Mets tonight as they look to push their winning streak to eight in a row, which would be the club s longest winning streak since a nine-game run from May 9-18, A win tonight would give Los Angeles its eighth series sweep of the season and its first undefeated homestand of six or more games since April 10-15, 2012, when the Dodgers swept the Pirates and Padres. The Dodgers will fly to Philadelphia tomorrow before opening a seven-game road trip against the Phillies (3 G) and Marlins (4 G) on Friday. The Dodgers have the Majors best record since June 22, going 39-8 (.830), which is the franchise s best 47-game run in the modern era (since 1900). The 1899 Brooklyn Superbas posted 39 wins in several 47-game stretches between April and June of that year. The Dodgers 47-game run is the best for a Major League team since the 1951 Giants went 39-8 from Aug. 12-Oct. 3. The last big league club with 40 or more wins in a 48-game stretch was the 1942 Cardinals, who went 41-7 from Aug. 11-Oct. 1. Source: Elias. With last night s win, the Dodgers assured themselves of a series victory to improve to in their last 16 series. Los Angeles last series loss came June at Pittsburgh. Just 53 days later, the Dodgers have the fifth-best record in the game (3 rd in NL), just 3.5 games behind the Braves (73-47). The Dodgers lead Arizona by 7.5 games, their largest divisional lead of the season and the second-largest divisional lead in Baseball behind only Atlanta s 14.0-game lead over Washington. The Dodgers last held a divisional lead of 8.5 or more games on July 25, 2009 (9.0 GA). Los Angeles is a season-high 19 games over.500 and has gone 22-3 since the All-Star break. The last time the club was 19 or more games over.500 was at the conclusion of the 2009 season (95-67).
