ROSTER MOVE: The Braves today selected RHP Luke Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned RHP Lucas Sims to the Stripers...This will mark Jackson s second stint with the Braves this season...he was also up from April Jackson, 26, allowed two runs in 1.1 innings over two games with the Braves earlier this season. The right-hander went 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA (4 ER/9.1 IP) in five games out of the bullpen for the Stripers. Sims tossed 3.2 innings in relief last night, allowing two runs, earned, and six strikeouts. SOROKA: RHP Mike Soroka tossed 6.0 innings and allowed just one run, earned, with no walks and five strikeouts to win his major league debut, May 1 at New York (NL). Soroka needed just 80 pitches to complete his 6.0 innings, becoming just the second Braves pitcher to go that long in as few pitches during his major league debut...rhp Ryan Weber went 6.0 innings in 74 pitches on September 8, Soroka won his debut at the age of 20 years, 270 days, becoming the youngest Braves pitcher to win his debut since LHP Charlie Vaughan beat Houston in game one of a doubleheader on September 3, Soroka beat the NL East-leading New York Mets in his debut...the last time a pitcher as young as Soroka won his major league debut against a team in first place at the time was 1997, when the Dodgers Dennys Reyes beat the San Francisco Giants on July 13...Reyes was 20 years, 85 days at the time, while the Giants were and leading the NL West by four games over the Dodgers. FIRST INNING: The Braves led 1-0 after the first inning yesterday and have now scored a MLB-high 35 runs in the first inning this season.
