HOME RUN DERBY: 1B Freddie Freeman is set to compete in 2018 T-Mobile Home Run Derby this Monday at Nationals Park...Freeman, who led the N.L. with over four million votes, will become the first Braves player to participate in the derby since Andruw Jones in 2005 and the ninth overall...as the No. 7 seed, he is scheduled to face off with Washington s Bryce Harper. The most home runs a Braves player has ever hit in the derby was five, first done by Fred McGriff in 1994 at Pittsburgh...Javy Lopez then matched that total in 1998 at Coors Field. THE OZZIE SIDE OF THE PAGE: 2B Ozzie Albies hit a home run from both sides of the plate on Wednesday night for his first career multi-home run game, and became the sixth Braves player in franchise history to homer from both sides of the plate in a game. and the first since Nick Swisher on August 22, 2015 at Wrigley Field...Albies now has 20 home runs this season, the most by a Braves player since 2006, when fellow Curaçao native Andruw Jones also had 20. Albies hit a solo shot left-handed against Luis Santos in the sixth inning before homering against Aaron Loup from the right side of the plate in the eighth. Jim Russell was the first Braves player to homer from both sides of the plate, doing so on June 7, 1948 at Chicago...Chipper Jones did it six times, while Rafael Furcal and Mark Teixeira each did it twice. Albies became the fifth player since World War II to homer from both sides of the plate in a game before his 22nd birthday...the last to do so was New York s José Reyes against the Braves on August 28, St. Louis Johnny Lucadello did it on September 16, 1940 against the Yankees for the first two home runs of his career...texas Rubén Sierra (September 13, 1986 at Minnesota) and Baltimore s Eddie Murray (August 3, 1977 at Oakland) also did it. ALBIES RUNS: 2B Ozzie Albies scored twice on Wednesday, giving him a N.L.-most 73 runs this season... He is the fourth player in franchise history to reach that mark prior to the All-Star break.
