Replace yur ld helmet with a new ne at the first sign f cracks, frayed straps r brken buckles. During the tur, all riders are required t wear a helmet. SUNGLASSES A gd pair f sunglasses is all it takes t prevent an eye injury frm rad debris r an insect. Make sure they fit prperly with yur helmet. Cnsider replaceable r phtchrmatic lenses fr different light levels, and bring a spare pair just in case. TOE CLIPS & STRAPS (ptinal) Rental bikes cme with flat pedals. 4 we will install them fr yu. Als, shes with flat sles are safer than lugged sles fr pulling yur ft ut f the pedal. CLIPLESS PEDALS (ptinal) Clipless pedals are great fr cntrl and pedal pwer, but trying them fr the first time n a tur may nt be the best idea. Fr yur persnal safety, yu must be cmfrtable riding, stpping and starting in traffic and n hills. If yu bring clipless pedals, make sure t bring bike shes with the crrect cleats. Fr bike turing, we suggest Shiman SPD pedals. The release is adjustable and the recessed cleat makes walking safer and easier. BIKE SHOES (ptinal) Simply put, a prperly fit bike she will increase yur pedaling efficiency and reduce ft fatigue. Fr bicycle turing, we recmmend either a muntain bike r turing style she rather than a racing she. These styles flex a bit t make walking easier, and if yu use clipless pedals, yur cleat will be recessed fr safer walking. If yu have custm ftbeds r rthtics, cnsider trying them in yur bike shes. Make sure t check with yur air carrier fr allwable baggage size and restricted items. Packing Hint #3: Freezer-weight Ziplc plastic bags are lightweight, inexpensive, and see-thrugh. Visit the samples sectin f yur drugstre r supermarket and see if yur favrite shamp, cnditiner, hand ltin, tthpaste and dedrant are available in travel-size samples. If nt, transfer sme t smaller plastic bttles in the size yu need. Remember t plastic bag all ltins! Packing Hint #5: Think multiple use garments! Cnvertible pants with zip-ff legs will save bringing an extra pair f shrts. Quick dry shrts duble as a swimsuit. Be creative and keep that baggage light! Packing Hint #6: D yur wn laundry.
