But, Harold is no musician and plans to skip town without giving any music lessons at all. Librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo sees through him and inevitably falls in love. Hebron HS Musical M A R C H Harold risks his life and career to be with her. Come and support your Hebron High School Drama Club to see how the story unfolds. Director Jared Grigsby, along with the students of Hebron High School s Drama Department, are working diligently to memorize lines, perform choreography, and practice singing the songs to make this the best production yet. Upcoming show dates are Friday April 10th and Saturday April 11th starting at 7 pm, and Sunday April 12th starting at 2 pm. The Hebron Drama Department hopes to see all of you there! Spring Break, one of the most anticipated breaks of the year, is coming up the week of March The students and faculty love having the week to recharge and get ready for the spring season, whether it be for sports, academic pursuits, or just going on vacation with their family to get away from it all. Many students and faculty members take advantage of this break to travel to warmer areas of the world, and our athletes and coaches take this time to prepare for their upcoming seasons in baseball, softball, and track. This is also a time when the seniors have to get ready for graduation and start planning for their futures. We want to wish everyone at Hebron a safe and fun Spring Break and look forward to seeing you all back, refreshed and recharged for the last quarter of the year on Monday, March 30th!

2 P A G E 2 P A G E 2 Blood Drive Parents of seniors, if you are looking for scholarships, check out studentscholarships.org, Indiana's leading source for finding scholarship money. It's a search engine that sends you scholarships that matches your profile. Contact the guidance office to check out some of the scholarships they have to offer. National Honor Society s annual Red Cross Blood Drive will be on Tuesday, March 17th from 8 am to 1:30 pm. Donating is very safe and simple, and it only takes about 6-10 minutes. Remember, donating just one pint of blood can save up to three lives, and someone in the US needs a blood transfusion every two minutes. Before donating, it is essential that you drink extra water, eat full and healthy meals, and bring your picture ID. The minimum age for donating is 16, and if you are 16, you will need parents permission. Please support your school and community with this amazing cause! Thank you for helping NHS, the American Red Cross, and possibly three people in the US that need blood. BPA State Conference TT HH E E HHA AW WK K S S N EN WE S W S Hebron s Business Professionals of America Chapter will be attending the State Leadership Conference this year in Indianapolis. The conference takes place on Sunday, March 15th through Tuesday, March 17th. The students attending this year are Kelly Steffan, Danielle Roeske, Maddie Kleine, Mia Riese, Madison Sohaney, Jourden Bixenmen, Rachel Young, Annabell Folsom, and Krystal Yankauskas. During the three day event, the students will be attending leadership sessions about college, personal finance, communication, and entrepreneurship, among others. They will also compete in various events in which they placed at district such as Small Business Management, Advanced Interview Skills, and Entrepreneurship. After the State Conference is the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. Hebron s chapter is hoping to attend this conference this May. Good luck to all members at State and we hope to be in California for Nationals!

The Hawks went up against the Whiting Oilers in the sectional semifinal, coming out on top with a score of 57-50, advancing the Hawks to the sectional championship. In the sectional championship, the Hawks faced the Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors, the defending sectional champions. Both squads had a large crowd to root their teams on, making the game an exciting one. Although they fought hard, the Hawks fell short by a score of 67-47, bringing their season to an end. Congrats to the team for having a great season and thank you to everyone who has supported Hebron basketball this year! We would also like to give special recognition to our seniors Brad Blank, Bryce Hanaway, Colton Jones, and Spencer Sutherland. Thank you for your time with the Hebron basketball program and good luck for the future!

4 P A G E 4 4 Softball The Hebron Softball Team has been preparing for their 2015 season since December, working hard conditioning and lifting weights to come out stronger than ever. Coach Craig Doelling, along with JV coaches Scott Eriks and Shayna Dujmovich, have been dedicated to their team since their arrival last year and have been working with the girls year round in order to build a stronger team. Last year, the girls went to the PCC Championship against their rival, the Boone Grove Wolves, and this year they are looking to clench that title. Although the girls lost some key senior players from last year, their hard work in the off season has prepared them to be a more strong and unified team. Their first game will be held on March 31st against Lowell, and the Varsity game will start at 4:30 pm, followed by the JV game afterwards. Come out this spring to support Hebron Softball! Baseball Are you ready for America s favorite past time to return to Hebron again? We sure are! Since January, Hebron's baseball team has been conditioning for their upcoming season. Putting in a lot of hard work and dedication, the team is looking forward to another successful season. Going and winning PCC Round Robin last year, the baseball team has set high expectations for themselves. Doing so well in the past, we are anticipating great outcomes from the team this year! Come out to support your hometown team April 1st for their first scrimmage against Morgan Township at 4:30 pm, and again on April 4th for their first game against Andrean. The varsity game begins at 11 am and the JV game begins at 1 pm. Thank you for supporting Hebron Baseball! T H E H A W K S N E W S

5 V O L U M E 5, I S S U E 7 P A G E 5 This is the first year in five years that Hebron High School s Dance Team has headed to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida to compete in the NDA National Championship! The girls performed at the Valparaiso University Dance Camp over summer break to get a bid for nationals, and they came out with a gold rating, sending them to the High School National Championship. The team was led by co-captains, senior Liz Fox, and junior Maddie Sohaney. The girls left after school on Thursday, March 5th Dance Team Nationals and returned on Monday, March 9th. During their time in Orlando, the girls performed on the NDA National Stage, watched teams from all over the country perform, and took advantage of the Florida weather, spending time in the sun and in the pool. We want to give the HHS Dance team a big congrats for attending the National Championship and a great job performing for their school this year. Also, thank you to everyone who has supported the team at games and competitions throughout the year. Good luck to our senior, Liz Fox, and good luck with everything you do in the future! Kiner s Korner As we celebrated Teen Tech Week this week, we kicked off Monday by learning about our first ever district wide Media Fair to be held in May. It will allow parents and the community to see all that we have learned in going 1:1 this year. Students at the high school can submit an entry in one of two categories: multimedia presentation or multimedia interactive OR video, live action. A winner will be named for each category and present their project at our Academic Award s Night on May 13th. Any submissions not selected can still showcase their project that same night. For more details, please stop by the media center. Also, as an addendum to the earlier article regarding our Annual Blood Drive: all 47 appointments were filled in four days. We are prepared to surpass our goal of 34 pints. Students along with a couple of parents will join us on St. Patrick s Day this year for this wonderful cause. If you didn t sign up for our drive on Tuesday, March 17th, there are still opportunities for you donate. Please see information that follows from the Red Cross. =======>>>>>>

7 P A G E 6 7 T rack and Field is one of Hebron High School s most celebrated sports. With track events like running, and field events such as high-jump, pole vaulting, long-jump, shot-put anddiscus, our boys and girls teams have the strength and confidence to shine in the PCC and into sectionals, regionals, and even the state meet. With practices starting up this Track & Field Senior Art Show week, the boys and girls of our Track and Field teams have been working hard in the off-season to prepare for the true season and strengthen their abilities. The boys and girls first meet this year in on April 14th at 4:30 pm at Hebron against Lacrosse and Covenant Christian, so come out to your home track to support your Track and Field athletes! Our senior art students are currently preparing to display their artwork that they have created throughout their years at Hebron to the rest of the student body and faculty. At the end of each year, the seniors at Hebron get a chance to create their own displays which are showcased in the main hallway to reflect their artwork and their personalities during their time at Hebron High School. The seniors who will be displaying their artwork are Billy Balding, Matt Chambers, Matt Frey, Gabby Heinold, Kaylea Malcolm, Ashley Rumford, Aliyah Spencer, and Sam Stueber. The art show will begin on Thursday, May 21st during the Middle School band concert and the displays will be up throughout the rest of May. So come out to support our senior artists to see all of the beautiful works of art they have created. Congrats seniors!
