Three Illinois chapters gathered together at Powhatan Restaurant to start their year off with a bang. We had 15 Chapter O members, 14 Chapter E members, 6 Chapter U members, and one member from Missouri Z. It was wonderful to see everyone chatting and enjoying their time together. The turn out was amazing and gave the chapter directors a shot in the arm to see that much participation. The weather didn t stay nice for long. The following week the weather dropped into the teens. It didn t stop any of the Gold Wingers from attending ice cream socials. Ice Cream and camaraderie are good no matter what the weather is outside. The month moved on with our Gathering and Skit practice for Winter Warm up This year Chapter O did FANTASTIC at Winter Warm Up. We won first place for our skit, first place for our scrap book, first place for our hat, second place for our shirt, second place for our center piece, third place for our banner (vinyl), and third place for our mascot. Go Chapter O Go. Carol Evans won first place for female costume, Jean Potwora won second place female costume, Jean Potwora won second place for Meet the Chapters, and Walt Potwora won the Niehaus week-end package. We want to thank everyone who went and participated in all the fun activities. The month continued with a sponsor dinner that included a calendar suggestion time. Many members attended and gave lots and lots of suggestions for rides this year. Everyone needs to check the calendar for times and places. If anyone has other suggestions on rides, please contact Danny or Carol and they can get them added to the calendar. Look Left, Look Right, Look Left again and Be Safe. 2 2 of 13 The Triple Chapter Polar Bear Ride On January sixth, Chapter E (Litchfield), Chapter O (Collinsville), & Chapter U (Vandalia) met at Powhaten Restaurant for the Annual Polar Bear Ride. We have several brave souls who braved the weather to ride their motorcycles. The weather temperature had to be above 32 degrees with dry roads and luckily that criteria was met. We had 38 members present, Chapter E had 15 members and 1 guest, Chapter O had 16 members present, and Chapter U had 8 members attend. Great turn out. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, each other s company and had a few laughs. Thanks goes out to all who attended. Jean Potwora

3 3 of 13 ILLINOIS DISTRICT EDUCATORS Steve and Jeanne Brungard February 2019 or Winter Warm-up was a good time for all to hunker and stay warm. Presented at the closing ceremony was a Grand Master level for Nancy Mallett. I also presented certificates of appreciation to Dan Davis and Kris Andre for their outstanding work as Rider Coaches, to Sue Allhands for her continuing devotion to rider education programs, and to Bonnie O Guinn for her help with the Rider Ed program with her help at the Rider Ed table helping to sell tickets for the griddle we raffled off and to helping out at the rider course training at our Chapter U level. I want to THANK the many participants that helped by buying tickets for this worthwhile project. THANKS. The prize winner was from Iowa, Sue Thompson IA-F THANKS very much. Joey presented a very good program and he did go back home just in case the weather might get him out but it didn t. 4 4 of 13 Member Enhancement Coordinator Jean Potwora Another Winter Warm-Up in the play books, and oh, what fun it was. It started with ISP Joey Watson giving a great presentation on Friday evening. He took over three hours of his personal time to do this for us. Think about his personal travel time, and you could say that he gave a day s work to join us and do the presentation. Thank you, Joey. Saturday started with a Co-Rider Class presented by Sue Allhands. We had twentytwo members attend the class. All who attended were very happy with the way it was presented, no computer presentation. We had a very unique baking contest using Easy-Bake Ovens, but problems ensued. But we did have two cakes to be judged. Games galore to play, lots of participation. Many of the games were from members childhood, Jacks, Pickup Sticks, Twiddle Winks and Bowling. The medallion hunt was complete with only two clues. WOW! Was that impressive. The scavenger hunt kept members very busy, find the answers, some took pictures, others wrote the answers on the back of their papers. Then it was to their phones, and many still got wrong answers. But all the winners were working together which is the purpose of the scavenger hunt. Than it was time for the Chapter Skits. Chapter E did the Mickey Mouse Club. Chapter O did The Howdy Doody Show. Chapter Z did American Bandstand. All were unique and fun to watch. After the skits came the Best Dressed Contests. First was the Chapters, then the couples and last the individuals. If you participated as a couple, you couldn t compete as an individal.we had a team challenge with a bean bag baseball game. Six teams competed. Lots of laughs, and good-natured ribbing. With all the events were done, it was time for dinner on our own, and then back for the closing ceremony and awards. There were over twenty categories of awards handed out. Then you can t leave out the 50/50 and Niehaus drawings
