2 A Note from Chapter "E" Directors Happy ground hog day! Spring is just 6 weeks away, is your bike/trike ready to ride? How old are your tires, helmet, etc. What about you? Has anything changed since last year? Are you taking any new prescriptions? How s your vision? Yes we must ask ourselves all of these questions and many more. We have to T-CLOCK not only our ride but also our safety equipment and ourselves. Let s always put safety first, it never hurts to schedule a physical with the doctor and also take a bike/trike refresher course. This will let you see if your reaction time is still as good as it once was. Winter Warm Up this year was very WINTER, many members and vendors choose to stay home with the forecast of bad weather. We had a very good turnout; fun was had by all, by those who attended. Our chapter had 11 members present and took home several awards, our new mascot FreEdom was the number one mascot. Chapter E is very proud of all the participation certificates. Safety weekend in Vandalia is April 27th & 28th of 2019, we will have info printed for you at our February social. Any new ideas you would like to see happen please feel free to call, or text any officer. 3 Chapter display with Freedom, the Chapter Mascot Dear Gold Wing members, You missed a good Winter Warm Up in Springfield. It was nice to see other members from Illinois chapters. There were people there from Iowa and Indiana, as well as the international couple of the year. We enjoyed the people games and skits. They had a 50/50 each day. Rider Education gave away a huge griddle. Bill Burke had a new roadsmith trike on display. Thanks to Bill and Callie for all the work they did on our chapter display. Thanks to Virgil, Connie, Bill and Callie for their work on our skit. Try to stay warm on these frigid days. Assistant directors, Wayne and Shirley

4 A note from the Chapter MEC Hello GWRRA members, Happy Valentine's Day. Let me talk about the fun our chapter members had last month. The polar bear ride we had 3 Chapters get together for a nice social event. Thank you Jean Potwora for taking great pictures. Now, let me talk about winter warm-up. This year theme was the 50's sock-hop. It was a fun time as always. Chapter E members came back with some awards: 1st place - Our Mascot "Freedom" 1st place - Motorist Awareness Fun Run - Virgil 1st place - Male costume- Virgil 3rd place - Chapter Costumes 3rd place - Chapter E Banner 3rd place - Chapter E scrapbook 3rd place - couple costume-bill and Callie. We had a Crazy Sock contest. The winners are: Absolutely crazy, crazy -Virgil The most Creative Callie The most unusual Bill The most Original Kylar We had a Baseball competition. Our team was made up of members of Chapters E, G and O. We tied but we lost in extra innings. We held our heads high and high-five the other team. One of our team members, Kylar photo bomb the winner team picture...lol Joey Watson was our guest speaker on motorcycle safety. We always love listening to him. He taught us a lot about motorcycle safety and kept us entertained. This month we have two fun activities. The first one is going to Iowa Chapter E (Our sister chapter) Sweetheart weekend on February 16th. I can tell you this will be our second year going. It s a fun time and good food. And you will get money thrown at you. The second activity will be our chapter Dress up night on February 23rd. 5 Past events: January 6 th 10 chapter members went on a bus trip to the casino at Tama, Iowa. According to Rick the casino was the big winner. Only one from the group won and she wouldn t share. January 6 th was the Chapter E polar bear ride. 14 from Chapter E went to Powhatten restaurant and meet up with chapters O and U. There was about 38 people total. Several of us stopped at the pink elephant for ice cream on the way home. Future events: February 14 th is our monthly social. We will be meeting at our new location, Maverick in Litchfield. Eat at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will start at 7. February 16 th is the Iowa Chapter E Sweetheart weekend. Bill & Callie and Virgil and Connie went last year and had a great time. Both couples are going again this year. If you want more information talk to one of them or go on the web to: February 23 rd at 6:00 p.m. is our dress up night. We will be going to Castelli s Moonlight Restaurant on Fosterburg Road in Alton. Maggie needs to have a head count by the February meeting. If you are planning on going, please let her know ASAP. March 14 th is our monthly social. We will meet at Maverick restaurant in Litchfield. Eat at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will start at 7.

6 An update from the District Educator: Winter Warm-up was a good time for all to hunker and stay warm. Presented at the closing ceremony was a Grand Master level for Nancy Mallett. I also presented certificates of appreciation to Dan Davis and Kris Andre for their outstanding work as Rider Coaches, to Sue Allhands for her continuing devotion to rider education programs, and to Bonnie O Guinn for her help with the Rider Ed program with her help at the Rider Ed table helping to sell tickets for the griddle we raffled off and to helping out at the rider course training at our Chapter U level. I want to THANK the many participants that helped by buying tickets for this worthwhile project. THANKS. The prize winner was from Iowa, Sue Thompson IA-F THANKS very much. Joey presented a very good program and he did go back home just in case the weather might get him out but it didn t.
