Welcome Guests: Brittany Walsh, last recipient of the Kiwanianne Scholarships in Brittany thanked the Kiwaniannes for their scholarship and how much it meant to her attending Ball State University. Brittany graduated this spring and earned her teaching certificate. She will be teaching sixth grade this fall near Muncie, IN. She thanked everyone for helping give her a good start at Ball State and expressed her appreciation for helping her reach her goals to graduate and teach.! 3
4 Donations: None Invocation: Prayer Concerns: 1. Carol Pitts recovering from cancer treatment. 2. David Wilson. 3. Dawn Mays Father. Home now from surgery. 4. Paul Rogers 5. Lee Anna Willett, recovering from foot surgery. 6. Tiffany Barrett, recovering from foot surgery. Bunny South and Don Cooper presented the results of the Taco Wagon at the Scott County Fair this year. Bunny reported the club netted $2, on the Taco Wagon. This was our best year in over five years. Don reported the success this year was due to everyone stepping up and doing their part to make the Taco Wagon a success. Don and Millie agreed to help with the Taco Wagon again next year. Thanks to everyone who worked in any way to make the Taco Wagon a success! Well Done!! Thank You To: 1. Thanks to Terry Davis and John Mastin for cleaning and prepping the Taco Wagon for the Scott County Fair on 9 Jul. 2. Thanks to Al Riggle for scheduling the shift workers for the Taco Wagon. 3. Thanks to John Mastin for stocking the drinks for the Taco Wagon. 4. Thanks to Chris Albertson and Lake Pointe Village for donating 600 hotdogs, buns and condiments for the Austin Back To School Bash on 27 Jul. Program: Brittany Walsh was our speaker tonight. Upcoming Events: Jul: Mater Fest. Put out flags around city square. PU flags on 23 Jul. AHS Key Club will have a booth at Mater Fest Jul: Mater Fest Bike Safety Rodeo at WesBanco parking lot from 2:00-4:00. Need volunteers to help with retrieving bikes, conducting quizzes and presenting completion certificates. Guy Townsend and Brent Inman will help set up course at noon. Scottsburg Police will help with traffic safety course, Scottsburg Fire will help with obstacle course. Eddie Arnold will help with bike! 5
6 safety inspections. Scott County Pilot Club will teach proper wear of bike helmets and give away bike helmets and two bicycles Jul: Summer Meal Program: (Don & Millie Cooper and Guy Townsend) Jul: Kiwanis Finance and Membership Committees meet at the Hampton Inn and Suites at 2:00 PM Jul: Scottsburg Back To School Bash will be held at First Christian Church from 6:00-8:00. We will be grilling 2,000 hotdogs. SLP Clubs will have a table with information for students. NWSB is donating hotdogs. Need volunteers to grill and hand out hotdogs Jul: Austin Back To School Bash at Jayce Stallings Youth Center. We will be grilling 600 hotdogs. Lake Pointe Village is donating the hotdogs, buns and condiments. Organizers will provide side dishes (potato salad and baked beans). Need volunteers to grill and hand out hotdogs Jul: CRADLE Board Meeting Jul: Friends of Hardy Lake Breakfast from 7:00-10: Aug: Tent rental for Pig Roast in the Park Aug: Take down tent from Pig Roast in the Park Aug: Scott County Partnership Family Health and Self Sufficiency Committee Meeting Aug: Kiwanis Indiana District Convention at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie, IN Aug: Chamber Regional Business Expo Aug: Friends of Hardy Lake Breakfast from 7:00-10: Aug: Kiwanis 5K at Hardy Lake. Old Business: 1. The Scott County Partnership Summer Meal Program will began 30 May. The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club has signed up to provide volunteers on Mondays.! 6
7 2. The Board of Directors approved termination of Rick Julian s membership due to failure to pay his membership dues. Letter prepared notifying Rick of the Board s action. On 19 June, Bunny South requested to delay terminating Rick s membership at Kiwanis International. Pending. New Business: 1. Darryl Smith announced the Tent Committee to look into purchasing a new tent for the Kiwanis Tent Program has been expanded from two members (Darryl and John Mastin) to five members: Darryl Smith and John Mastin (Co-Chairs), LL Lowry, Guy Townsend and Al Riggle. Birthdays and Anniversaries: Happy Birthday to: Dana Bracey on 2 July. Rick Julian on 18 July. Daniel Brunner on 26 July. Tiffany Barrett on 28 July. Jack McWhirter on 28 July. Dori Marcum on 9 July 2016 for one year of service. Erick Mays on 8 July 2014 for three years of service. New Washington State Bank on 8 July for three years of service. David Wilson on 25 July 2013 for four years of service. John Ragusa on 5 July 2006 for eleven years of service. Brag for a Buck: For a mere dollar, you may talk about anything of your choice. 8 Members of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club are encouraged to bring their spouse, other family members and friends to the weekly meetings. The cost of the meal depends upon the food that you order. Next Board of Directors Meeting: Thursday, 3 Aug at 5:00 PM at the Train Depot. Board meetings are for officers, directors and committee chairs.
