1 Witta Tennis Wikings Mike, John, Andy, Tom, Maree and Jeannie were victorious over Ballinger Hotshots Although the Whackers had a great day travelling north, the host Gympie Reds came out victors, 8 sets to 4 and in games. However we did retain our status as best-looking and most personable team. Social tennis: Monday 8am, Thursday 7pm; Saturday 1pm, Sunday 9am all welcome. Enquiries and court hire to or Maleny Little Athletics Good morning everyone, Just a quick reminder that there is no competition this Saturday. As it is both the end of school holidays and a long weekend, we felt that considering how many kids are likely to turn up, we would give everyone an extra days break. We will resume on the 11th Oct. Have a great week. Maria - Centre Manager I Corn t believe it..so goes Tony Grieg s famous commentary. There was plenty of action, live commentary and drama for Maleny s Hill at Saturday s Charity Cricket Match. An entertaining afternoon of sport, entertainment and fund-raising saw pyjama clad teams once again playing in support of the work of Maleny s Peter Oliver for the Lung Foundation. Celebrity XI openers Captain Andrew Powell and Qld Dep Premier Jeff Seeney strode purposefully to the crease, hoping to set a cracking good pace. The pollies showed they are no slouches, with top scorer Local Maleny District Sports & Recreation Club Inc Sports Results for 29th September, 2014 Govt. Minister David Crisafulli on 28 not out. Chasing 109 runs to win, Maleny Mauler s opener Mickey Oliver showed how it s done, hitting a 4 and 6 in his innings. Boundaries, catches, close calls and injuries, the match had it all. During his stint as keeper, My Seeney copped an injury but was quickly escorted to Maleny Hospital (thank you Jared Ashcroft) who returned him, with a few stitches, to play on. The Maleny Maulers won the game in the last over, proudly defending the Golden Thong Trophy. Better luck next year Andrew. Continued on Page2 For more information visit our web site:
