Even though it was 4 sets each, the Wasps were the stronger on the day just edging out the Hitters Congratulations to the Wasps however the Hitters vow to edge you out in the rematch. In another great day of tennis the Witta Whistlers were at Ballinger Park. Even better, The Whistlers had another fantastic win against the Ballinger Breezers. Score was 47 to 18 games, 7 to 1 sets. The team was Liz Mellish, Aki Lepper, Donna Kuskopf and Brenda Warner. The captain is very proud of the Witta Kestrels. It came down to the wire with the Kestrels even with Nambas at 32 games each with 1 set to go. The team of Pauline Fraley, Annie Stewart, Sue Vockenson and Annie Boyd had that never say die attitude and threw everything at Nambas to come away with a win. 5 sets to 3; games. The Kestrels are back in the winner s circle. Well done team! Unfortunately the weather came into play and both Vets teams were rained out on Sunday. Had a call from Trevor [the Rev ] Wilson during the week. Trevor hasn t had the best of years healthwise. What he thought he would have recovered from in eight weeks has now been going on for six months but the Rev is still positive in outlook and hasn t thrown his Bowls away just yet. All the best Rev, hope to see you back on the Green in the not too distant future. Maleny Tennis News In the Wednesday competition Sylvia Harker s Lorikeets had a good win over the Maroochy Cruisers by 48 games to 29. The Larks didn t make it and the Magics have asked their mentor, Mandrake the Magician, to consult with his giant Nubian manservant Lothar on how to proceed from here. In the Friday competition, Jenny, Geraldine, Mavis and Eunice went down to the Eumundi Echoes by 40 games to 32. In the now mandatory post match interview (a la Wimbledon) Jenny succinctly summed up the match in two words Oh Well.
