This year, the Captain s Club is raising funds that will go towards the Ballroom renovation. June is our busiest month and we have many great events planned, such as our Men s Member- Guest Golf Tournament and our Members Weekend! I want to welcome Gary Hershey to our management staff. Gary has been hired as our Food and Beverage Director. He has over 25 years of experience in the club and restaurant business. Recently he has been the Operations Manager for Taste Hospitality Group overseeing Mezzo Restaurant, Hubbard Grill and Wine on High. Gary previously worked nine years at Medallion Club in all food and beverage areas. Gary and his wife live in Westerville with their two teenage sons. Come out and meet Gary at our June Happy Hour on Friday, June 5th. Thank you for all of your support with membership recruitment this Spring. We have had over 80 new members join our club and have reached our overall membership goal of 900 families. Our promotions have ended and the initiation fees will be going up. 3 3 WHCC Service Charge and Gratuity olicy Members have been asking about how the service charge, gratuity and tipping work at the club. The Service Charge on your chit is not paid to the wait staff. The Service Charge goes toward paying a higher hourly rate to the staff in those areas, keeping the area staffed when business volume is low, paying for the time involved in set up and tear down of events, linens used in that area, etc. A Gratuity or Tip that is left by a member or guest is paid directly to the wait staff. Club Staff Service Charge Gratuity or Tips Men s Grill, Halfway House, Beverage Cart and Club Social Events 15% Service Charge Automatically Added to Food & Beverage Sales, Not aid to Wait Staff At the Members discretion, an extra amount may be given in cash or added to a ticket as a gratuity to the wait staff. A round here at Worthington Hills should not last more than 4 hours. Remember to keep up with the group and in front of you. We have pace of play clocks on the water coolers throughout the golf course. These clocks should always read your starting tee time from #1 tee. lease do not adjust the clock to the current time. To post a score for a nine or eighteen hole round you do not have to finish every hole. If you play seven holes, you can still post a nine hole score. The same is true for eighteen hole rounds. The minimum number of holes to post a score is thirteen. To score your remaining holes, just take par plus your handicap. Also, please remember the maximum score on any hole for score posting purposes is listed below. The cost of the eight (8) week program will be $125 or a five (5) week option for $80 billed to your account. This program is designed to give younger juniors initial experience through instruction and practice with basic fundamentals. Our primary goal is to have every junior walk away from the program having had a great time and learned the basic skills, etiquette, and knowledge they will use for a lifetime of golf. We even give your juniors skill mastery challenges to improve skills at home. A detailed description of the junior program can be found in the golf shop and on the website. I will be looking at weekend dates to play the early rounds and I will set the schedule for those matches. The finals will still be played on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, with lunch available along with beer and wine. It s always a great day to come out and support your fellow members and watch some great tennis! Tennis 101 Want to learn the game of tennis? Come on out on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and get introduced to the great game of tennis. We can provide demo racquets for you if you don t already have your own. Since we use the Adult Clinic ackage to bill, you can come as few or as many times as you d like. Our instructors do a great job of teaching you the strokes and strategies of the game. Family Fun Day Sunday July 12th 2:00 to 4:00 pm We would like to invite children and their parents to enjoy a social day of tennis and fun! Cost: $16 per Child Summer Tennis Clinic Age Group & Class Descriptions Mighty Mites - Ages 3-5 Mini nets and special training balls, which are age appropriate for beginning children, will be used. We will strive to teach teamwork and basic skills as we introduce the children to the game of tennis including a combination of skills and fun games. Future Stars - Ages 6-9 Mini-nets and special junior training balls will be used which will help children develop their skills and begin rallying. Games and drills will be used to teach strokes and grips along with techniques of footwork. Using junior training equipment, we will introduce the serve with the aim of having the children rally and enjoy the mini-tennis experience! Junior Development Ages 10 & Older Students will transition to regulation sized tennis courts with regulation tennis balls. They will be grouped on the court based on age and ability. The focus will continue to be on stroke and technique development and how to use them in a point situation. Workout in a TEAM environment while challenging yourselves with others to reach your personal fitness goals. Guts and Butts: Everyone loves to hit these target problem areas. This class specifically targets your core and legs to tone and tighten them throughout the workout. Kickboxing: This athletic workout will give you a great workout in just 55 minutes!
