1 Gentlemen of the BTC, April 5, pm Thursday afternoon is when I started to write this newsletter. Opening day for the South Side and the snowflakes are falling and they are big fluffy ones. So pretty, WTF! I have been to many opening days some in shorts and some in my snowmobile suit. I draw the line on the snowmobile suit nowadays. As I mentioned in last week s letter about experiencing all four seasons in the next several weeks is quite possible. One more week of bowling and then the links, let s just see what Mother Nature will have for us. Gentlemen, at the end of the newsletter is a sheet of members that are NOT in the Hole in One Club, you need to see Terry Samoska before you tee off April 17. The shenanigans on and at the lanes last Tuesday were priceless. Crazy competitive bowling and jokes flying at all times. All four teams are now set to compete next Tuesday as we close out the 2017/2018 bowling season. Good Luck to all. John Delano will fill us in later in the letter. Quotes of the Day: The mystery pot numbers were called the second game and there were a few members hanging out at the front counter. Look at all the gray haired people up at the counter (Frank Furman), (John Paliga) followed with And all the no haired people Frank Reichenberger showed his frustration of scores not written down in a timely fashion by announcing over the P.A. Report your scores or go to hell Shawn Sujka in perfect timing came back with And get off my lawn Somehow a reference to old men and their manicured lawns. Priceless, I love this club. Sick and Vigil Our condolences to Gino Maira and his family on the passing of his sister earlier this week. Services have been held. Also, past Club member, Al O'Malley, passed away this week. Visitation for Al is Friday at St. Barnabas Church, S. Longwood from 3-8pm. Funeral is Saturday at 10 am from St. Barnabas. Andy Zilis is home and resting up. Andy had a defibrillator installed on Monday morning. Took a little extra time to tap into his heart of gold. Godspeed brother. Spot Light of the Week: Bob Kennedy Born into the club Rejoined 2012 Plays Racquetball/Tennis/Golf and saving himself for bowling when he fully retires. Re-joining in 2012; the best decision ever. Best Memories: Golf; Winning the 2017 Open Division & playing with some of the best golfers in BTC was truly a dream come true since I couldn t raise my arm above my shoulder in May. I had major shoulder surgery in February of For anyone who has experienced it, it can be both physically and mentally challenging not knowing if you will be able to do the same physical activity prior to surgery or at a diminished level. Come June, I finished therapy and was given a severance from the bank so my summer

2 schedule opened up for golf with the BTC. I was able to play with more members who I never met and thus made new friends. I played the best golf of my life, shooting 68 at University Park. Broke 70 with golf memories that will last a lifetime. Racquetball, I also have so many wonderful memories of playing competitive racquetball for over 10 years in Oak Lawn with so many great guys. I always showed up with both knee and elbow pads plus a knee brace, always diving for balls where the point seemed life or death. I wish I was still playing competitive and getting the best work outs ever! Getting the Racquetball Champ Gym Bag from Chuck Martino was supper special. Tennis, Winning the doubles title with Rob Rollins as well as being tennis champ and getting the winners jacket from Ed Wood, very special memories indeed. Evenings, Heading over to JC s Pub and or Rosewood were two of my favorite places to meet after golf or racquetball, so many great stories, meals, drinks and embellishments! R.M. Memory: I always looked forward to our St Pat Parties, of course being Irish. Parties were elevated to new levels, far beyond expectations. My wallet always seemed to be a little lighter for some odd reason at the end of the night. Also, in Oak Lawn, I was playing Greg Pappas in racquetball and we were both very competitive. We were running around like maniacs and the next thing I know, he was lying on the floor in pain and yelling at me. Why did you do that I said, Do what? Why did you hit me in the back of the leg? I said, How could I, I was to the side of you We both looked at his foot and it was dangling sideways as he completely tor his Achilles tendon. It sounded like two blocks of wood hitting each other when it popped. As I drove him to the ER, I informed him of the good/bad news-both that he forfeited the match to me! After tennis 6 of us went to the Fifth Quarter for pizza. After tennis on April 10 th we will be going to GIO for our semi-annual visit and year end dinner. I have confirmed reservations for 14. Abramowicz, Schiera, Baldermann, Schroeder, DiNolfo, Rooks, Norman, Cleary, Bewley, Ganz, Anderson, Johnson, Borus and Sutko. If anyone else wishers to join us please let me know so we can add you to the reservation. Opening Day - $50 per person. Must be paid in advance. You do not pay at the golf course. Dinner after golf. 2. Scramble, Week 2 - $60, includes Closest to Pin Man, $100 per team. 4. Indiana Trip in June, $125 golf fees for both days. Also, signup for the President's Cup and other early season events. See Dick Kamin. BOWLING Dan's Lock & Key and Burr Oak Bowl ended up winning both halves. So, the second place teams, Bluebird Lanes and Van Henkelum Funeral make the roll-off next week. This week was probably the highest scoring week of the bowling season. There were five 700 plus series and twenty-five 600 plus series. Shawn Sujka led the scoring with a 289 game and a 789 series. The other 700s were 765 by Keith Tadevich, 738 by Craig O'Reilly, 719 by Terry Samoska and 714 by Tom Stahl. Remember, our bowling banquet is at Beggar's Pizza (157th and Cicero) right after bowling next week.
