2 A Note from the Manager... Summer has flown by once again! All areas of the club have been very active due to a full and great membership. Thanks go out to S.W. and Isiah for managing our pool operation. We had a great year and hope to make it even better in planning for the future. Our Fireworks Extravaganza set a new record, serving 1,600 people. The organization of the play area (bounce houses, games, face painting, etc.) was well received as was the Fireworks display. 3 Oaks Member Spotlight Longtime Oaks members, Joe and Jo Ann Parsons, just completed their 13th annual trip to Uganda, as directors of the Bushenyi Alliance for Rural Health & Development (BARHD), a nonprofit organization educating secondary and university students and providing health care in southwest Uganda. They were honored during this trip with the naming of a new girls dorm at one of the secondary schools, the Jo Ann Parsons Family Residence, which houses 132 girls. In the last 13 years, BARHD has found American sponsors for 1,500 Ugandan secondary students and 43 university students. And BARHD was started in 2006 by Tom Wilson and Joe Parsons after they became golf buddies at the Oaks! For the last two years he has worked as a graduate assistant coach for the women s tennis team at The University of Tulsa. During his college years, he played for the TU men s tennis team and had a career high ranking of #71 in singles and #33 in doubles. He recently graduated from TU with a masters in Athletic Training.
