The course is in transition, and we do have one green as a temporary, but I have seen quite a bit of Bermuda growing and if Mother Nature helps us with some much needed rain, the course will respond and come back very nicely. Transition is sometimes harder on the course than other times, but I assure you Terry and the grounds crew are doing everything possible to give us the best golf course possible. Look for the 16th green to be back in service 21 days after we finish the resodding which will happen the first part of June. June is dedicated by the PGA of America as the month to help all golfers play a bit faster. I would like to share some of my best ideas to help improve pace of play. I hope these help all of you. 1. Keep up with the group in front of you. 2. Move Promptly Proceed quickly to your ball and be ready to hit when it's your turn. 3.Play Promptly Take no more than 30 seconds maximum to hit your shot. 4. Be quicker on the greens Read it, Hit it, Tap it in, go to the next tee. 5. Treat rules with discretion..take no more than 3 minutes to look for balls and then take relief. 6. Do your Housekeeping on your own time Start the round with tees, markers, balls and a ball mark divot repair tool in your pocket. Write down your scores on the next tee. Don't make others behind you wait. 7. Be a good teammate Know your partners' strengths and weaknesses; help them when it is convenient, move on when it is not. 8. Be cart smart Drop off your partner and drive to your ball. When you leave the cart take more than one club so you have the right one with you. 9. Accept responsibility Recognize that slow play is not always the other persons fault. 10. Play the tee box that is best suited to your level of play Tee it forward 1

Craig Arnold, Hole #13 5/25/15 NEWS FROM Mike Kowalski, Golf Chair The 16th green will remain as a temporary green for an additional 5-6 weeks. Sod for replacing bad spots will arrive between June 4th and 11th. Once the sod has been laid the green must set for 21 days before play can resume. There were 56 players for the Memorial Day Couples outing. The format was a step back scramble with a maximum of 8 drives per player. We had an 8 AM shotgun start followed by lunch, awards and a birthday cake for Pat O'Malley. All 56 players were dressed in Red, White and Blue----all the service men and women were also recognized at the luncheon. The results were very close as 4 teams were tied for 2nd place with the score of 63. The traditional score card playoff only eliminated one team while the other 3 teams tied for 2nd. This is the first time in 3 years using the score card playoff that teams tied. 2

NEWS FROM Betty Gibson, MWGA Representative MWGA has had great participation this past month on our Thursday games with upwards of 40 ladies participating. Winning team for Trivia Golf consisted of Marie Marvil, Irene Rossiello, Bev Race and Evelyn Weasner 3

4 Winners on the Buddy day were: 1 st Flight: Linda Hodgson and Judy Taylor 2 nd Flight: Edith Boom and Dot Vieira 3 rd Flight: Sandy Cookson and Mary Hitchcock Winners on Criss Cross were: 1 st Flight Carolyn Skorich, 2 nd Flight Judy Keating, 3 rd Flight Marie Marvil Winners on Par 4 s were: 1 st Flight Betty Hudi, 2 nd Flight Coreen Corbin, 3rd Flight Sandy Cookson Of note, all games (except trivia) were very close with only about 3 points separating first place from fourth place. Additionally, the scores were also consistent between flights. It looks like the handicap system is working well! Some people just know more frivolity! Next month s games are: 6/4 Individual Odd Holes Side Game: Woodie 6/11 Team Sixes (1 net best 1-6, 2net best 7-12, 3 net best 13-18) Side Game Closest to line #10 6/18 Individual Even Holes Side Game: Chip Ins 6/25 Team Shamble (Every one Drives, takes 2 nd shot from best drive and then continue individually to the hole. Use 2 best balls per team) Side Game: Longest Putt #7 It s fun to see that so many different people have been in the money and have fun. If you haven t joined us on Thursday we would love to see you. NEWS FROM Denny Bettisworth, MMGA Representative (Even though this is a duplicate message, it is important to repeat:) The Golf Channel has designated June as Pace of Play Month. The MMGA adds its support to this effort, and acknowledges Bob Bainbridge s work on this subject for the Gold Tee Players. The Golf Channel and specifically Charlie Rymer have comprised a list of ten ways for all of us to speed up play on the golf course: 1.
