1 Around Golf Club Don t forget, we are on Facebook check us out at St. Andrews Arc Leesburg, FL Ann Carter - Editor March, 2015 Mike Kowalski, Golf Committee USGA Tournament Scoring: In March we will be playing Tournament rounds in our annual Club Championship. Those of you that will participate will be recording scores that could stay in your handicap system up to a year if they are within your low 10 scores in each handicap period. Handicaps are updated twice a month year around on the 1st and 15th. When you are playing in a Tournament the rounds will be recorded with a "T" in the handicap system. All cards for the Tournament rounds must be turned into the Pro Shop your scores will be posted by Craig Misch or me. In a Tournament round it is important to record the total score for each hole no matter how high the number might be. The hole is not over until the ball is putted into the hole. The Handicap Committee or Craig will adjust your high scores to meet ESC "Equitable Stroke Control" before they are posted. Monarch Club Championship March 11, 12 and 14th: The Club Championship will be play on the 11th, 12th and 14th for the Men and the 12th and 14th for the Women with a dinner to follow on Saturday night. The sign up sheet is posted in the lobby. The Gold and Silver players will be flighted by handicap. Each day will be counted as a Tournament round. Member/Member Results: 94 players teed up for a brisk two days of golf and friendship. It was the sunny and cool for both days and players were layered with all kinds of clothing. In the end two teams stood out amongst the field of 47---Karen Teeguarden and Carolyn Skorich won the Women's title with a total of Bob Keating and John Scappaticci won the Men's title with a total of 123. Congratulations to all the winners. 1

Day one was windy and cold day two was downright nasty. Twenty five degree wind chill to start off the round, no one quit and somehow we managed to have a great tournament. I have spoken with Mother Nature and she assures me next year it will be 75 and sunny. Bob Keating and Jack Scappaticci will get the trophy for the men this year, Karen Teeguarden and Carolyn Skorich get the ladies trophy. Congrats to all. Coming soon The Club Championship is coming up quickly; I'd would love to see as many people participate as possible. This is YOUR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP, every member should come out this year to play. 3 NEWS FROM MMGA Denny Bettisworth The MMGA Stroke-Play Championship Tournament, luncheon, and spring business meeting will be held March 18. The day begins with an 8:00 AM shotgun start for the golf event followed by lunch and the spring business meeting. The fee for the Stroke-Play Championship Tournament is $5.00. This is a full handicap event. There will be three flights with gross and net winners in each flight. The lunch is provided by the MMGA. The business meeting will be held in concert with the luncheon. The sign-up sheet for this event will be posted by Tuesday, March 10. There will be two spaces next to your name on the signup sheet: one for the golf; the other for the luncheon. The sign-up deadline is 5:00 PM Sunday, March 15, since the restaurant needs a final count on the lunch numbers by Monday morning. NEWS FROM the MWGA Betty Gibson, Contributor Well, news is a little skimpy this past month as cold weather and rain caused several cancellations. We look forward to a lovely March and hope to see everyone out there enjoying friendship and camaraderie. Additional new members to MWGA since the first of the year include Carol Arnold, Kitty Bolier and Judy Wolfe. Welcome! There will be no MWGA play on 3/12 due to the Club Championship. March Games are as follows: 3/5 Individual S&T (net on holes starting with S and T) Side Game Closest to Pin #8 3/19 MWGA Member/Member with Lunch to follow 3/26 Beat Par (1 point for every net hole below par) Side Game: Longest Drive #15 See you all out there! Paul Bunyan Tournament Jim Dubsky & Dick Wolfe The fourth annual golf tournament took place on Sunday, February 8 th. We had great weather, great food and outstanding service with 120 great friends. Golfers finished their round in under four hours, could be a record for this size of a tournament. (Craig, the pro, predicted five hours- we showed him). This event was organized by Craig & Carol Arnold, Jim & Jan Dubsky and Dick & Judy Wolfe. A special thanks for all their hard work. Results: Wisconsin 2408, Minnesota 2399 All proceeds will go back into the club. A huge thank you to all who participated. WISCONSIN 3

4 ENTERTAINMENT "The Emotions" were a big hit at the Crown and Shield on Monday, February 16th. Close to 80 friends and neighbors attended the event with lots of good comments from all. The new addition to our clubhouse is making for an enjoyable evening with all the extra room. Hope everyone signs up for Suzie Casta on March 25, watch for the E-Blast. This should be a sold out event. We also have Taco Card Bingo scheduled for Wednesday, March 11 so watch for the blast on February 25 th. Should the goal of $6, not be reached within a reasonable amount of time (say 4/6 weeks), Roy will personally make sure that your donation is refunded to you. We are working on getting all members that have an address on the distribution. #3 There are members that are marked with appropriate customer type in the system, and s are being sent to them. Some people, particularly Comcast users, are not getting member s eblasts. It is due to highly aggressive spam protection from Comcast. If you are one of these people, please READ BELOW. You can also follow the directions listed below to disable the spam filter so that you will receive legitimate to your Comcast account from the club: 1. Log in to customer.comcast.com 2. Click "Users and Preferences" 3. Under " Settings", click "Edit" next to "Spam Filter". Note: Only the primary account can do this. 4. Click "DISABLE Spam filter" This is an unfortunate reality of marketing that they cannot control the spam filters and settings that providers implement. The above information, however, goes a long way towards helping you using Comcast addresses get your s. Please click on this link and watch the video which will clarify the issues with Comcast.
