We now head into an extremely busy March, with a schedule packed full of events and activities for all to enjoy, including Trivia Night and the Coastal Women s Shelter Fashion Show.

2 FROM THE MANAGER, PATRICK DILL Clubhouse News We have been extremely lucky with the mild winter we ha ve had thus far. Februar y was filled with beautiful days, perfect for golf, tennis and all other activities. We now head into an extremely busy March, with a schedule packed full of events and activities for all to enjoy, including Trivia Night and the Coastal Women s Shelter Fashion Show. For the first time in several years we will hold an Oyster Roast on the lower lawn and patio area. March also brings March Madness and the ACC Tournament, in which we will have wings and beer specials during the Thursday and Friday Tournament games. We also have two weddings that will utilize the entire Clubhouse, so please check the calendar for closings. Also, the new dinner menu starts on Thursday, March 9th, so come out and check out new items on our wonderful new menu. Matt Reid and I have begun meeting to discuss the summer pool operations. Right now it may seem like a long way away, but the pool officially opens in about 90 days, so we all have something to look forward to. REMINDERS: Shirt tails shall be tucked in at all times while playing golf. When parking, please do not park at the end of parking lot rows as it makes it difficult for cars that are properly parked to back out of their spot. Smokers - please respect the appearance of Club property by disposing of cigarette and cigar butts in an ashtray. Walkers please do not use the course for any non-golf purposes, such as walking, jogging, biking and the like between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00pm. Hidden Number In the newsletter is a hidden number. If you find your number hidden in the newsletter, you will receive two dinner entrees of your choice this month, excluding any beverages, gratuity and sales tax. 6 TENNIS REPORT, BILL JONES Well, we are now in full spring mode here at the Tennis Center. we have 3 ladies teams and 1 men s team playing league tennis. The Kid s Program is happening every Tuesday and Thursday evenings and our annual USTA Kids l4 Tournament will be coming up on March 18th and 19th. It is a wonderfully busy time here and we hope that you can come out and enjoy the great weather and perfect courts. If you would like to come out, we ask that you reserve your court ahead of time so we have all your needs met before you arrive. Take care and we look forward to seeing everyone soon Member of the Month This member has been a mainstay of our tennis family for many years. She loves to play on the only day she has available because she works with her husband in their family business. She plays the game like she runs their business.hard working, always striving to make things better, and giving all her energy to the game of tennis. She is a loving wife and mother of two wonderful young ladies. She has passed her passion for tennis on to her youngest daughter, who is a very accomplished player at New Bern High. Do you know who this is? This is none other than Kim Hoveland. Thank you Kim for always having a smile on your face, a kind word to all you meet and for having the best crab bisque in eastern North Carolina Tennis News Directors Tip of the Month Be your own best partner. When you are on the tennis court playing doubles (it doesn t matter who your partner is) always remember you need to hold up your end of the bargain as best as you can. Some days you will not miss and some days the ball will always find you and when those days come, just be the best partner with the most positive outlook that you can be.remember, this life and tennis lesson: Treat others as you would want them to treat you. Be supportive and helpful, it will always come back to you in a positive way. No matter if you win or loose the match, you have already won the day New Reservation System Coming to the Tennis Center The Tennis Center will soon have an online reservation system. All the research has been completed, so now you will be able to reserve your courts online and see the reservation sheet with what courts are available. You will still be able to reserve courts the old fashion way by coming in the shop and signing up after you play. We will announce all the specific information once we are up and running. 7 Upcoming Tennis Events: USTA l4 Kid Tournament will be held on March 18th and 19th. We want to thank the NBGCC LTA for supplying the kids with snacks and drinks for the tournament. Without their help, this would not be possible We are having our refresher clinic every Tuesday night at 7pm. This clinic is designed to help out anyone who has played tennis and wants to come back, or anyone who would love to play tennis and wants some pointers on what they should do to play. We will send out messages on what the topic will be the day of the clinic, so if you are interested, please contact us so we can put you in to have some fun Junior Tennis Member of the Month Kids After School Program This program runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm-7pm. The levels and ages vary per hour. For more information please contact: Hank Sumner at or call us. We would be happy to help get your child in the proper class to start having a great time playing the game we love so much Tennis News Even with the cool temperatures, the junior tennis program is heating up. Our junior program continues to grow, and each junior is improving. This month our junior member of the month brings an energy and love for the game to the courts. At first you might think she is quiet; however when she steps on the court her love of tennis shows. Each and every junior clinic, this junior brings energy and passion and her personality lights up the courts. The Junior Member of the Month is none other than Anna Kate Kirby. 9 Golf News HOLE IN ONE CLUB We will be doing the Hole N One club again this year. If you were signed up in 2016 you will automatically be signed up for Dr. Drew Grice was the only winner in 2016 Here is how the club works. You are committing to the entire 2017 year, now through December 31 st. Your golf course maintenance staff works extremely hard to give you an excellent golf course. The MGA gives back to the guys that work so hard through meals and donations throughout the year.
