5 Caledonian Showing Championships The Caledonian Showing Championships are now well established in the showing calendar and will once again give 2018 competitors the opportunity to compete at a top-level Championship Final in Scotland. Evening Performances, loads of bling and razzmatazz... everything an end of season Championship should have! This year s show will be held at Howe, near Ladybank, Fife on 13/14 October 2018 This Show is a qualifier and every horse & pony placed 1 st and 2nd in all In hand, Ridden Showing classes (not fun classes) & Working Hunter/Pony classes will qualify to compete in any appropriate class at the Finals. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. Qualification is for the Horse & Pony except for Adult/Young Handler classes, where the Handler qualifies. All qualified horses and ponies will be listed on the Caledonian Showing Show s website where you will also find a regularly updated list of qualifying shows as well as a wealth of other information. BHS Scotland / The Eastern BMW Working Hunter Series 2018 The course: At least 8 and not more than 12 fences, with changes of direction, must be set in a ring large enough to permit jumping fluently at a fair hunting pace. Fences should be rustic or as natural as possible, not easily dislodged, of solid appearance, well filled and with shrubs as wings. Maximum height 3ft 6ins (1.05m), maximum spread 3ft 9ins (1.12m), except open ditch and water. The course should be set at, or near, maximum unless the judge considers that the ground makes this unsafe. Normally at least one upright and one spread must be at maximum. Qualification: The first THREE qualify for the final, even if they did not jump clear. If one of the first three has already qualified the qualifying card can be passed down to fourth place provided the 4 th placed rider jumped clear. To compete at the FINAL riders must be a BHS Member and this must be registered prior to the date of the final. Blair Castle Working Hunter Pony Championships Class numbers are qualifiers. Ponies placed first to fourth in each class will qualify for the Championships held at Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair on Thursday 23 rd August Qualification may go down to sixth place if higher placed ponies have previously qualified. CHAPS (UK) This show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 30 th August 01 st September Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The following classes (23-27) are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit www. chapsuk.com for rulings. All Stallions, 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception. 3

6 NB CHAPS (UK) Qualification Cards the judge must sign all qualification cards in the ring at the time of the competition. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to obtain from CHAPS (UK) Admin, and to carry, their Qualification and Membership Cards. Chaps Affiliated Show Number: Ingliston Elite Showing Championship Series Ingliston Elite is a new, prestigious, showing championship for Scotland and the UK. The finals will be held within Ingliston Grand Slam, at Ingliston Country Club, Bishopton, Renfrewshire. Saturday 22 nd September 2018 Excellent prize fund of 350 for each final- 1 st - 3 rd 1000 to the overall Elite Champion Winner takes all! Elite Hunters Elite Riding Horses Elite Cobs This Show is a qualifier and every horse placed 1st to 3rd in all specified classes will qualify to compete in the appropriate class at the Finals. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. All qualified horses will be listed on the Ingliston Elite Show s page on our website. www. ingliston.com/facebook page. Veteran Horse Society QUALIFIER This show is a qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final: SCOTTISH VETERAN HORSE OF THE YEAR 2018 Kindly Sponsored by Allen & Page. Each VHS affiliation in Scotland now holds a PRE-QUAL Supreme Final qualification There is no 2nd round each show has the same qualifying status. Open to members and non-members. However, only Members may go forward to the Championship of the day. VHS Membership to be applied for no later than 1 week prior to this show, to avoid disappointment. VHS Scottish Supreme (Pre-Judging) Final qualification. ONLY MEMBERS placed 1 st to 2nd in each age category will go to the Veteran Championships of the Day. In all classes - if competitors placed 1st or 2nd are not Members qualification will be given to 3rd & 4th providing they are Members. Qualification will not go lower than 4th place. If the Champion or Reserve has qualified then 2nd or 3rd reserve may take qualification. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. Champions and Reserve Both In-hand and Ridden must have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. This will qualify through the pre-judging of the Supreme. Competitors to present their Show Card to the judge for qualification. Should the Championship be combined the top 2 ridden and top 2 in-hand go forward. Mountain & Moorland. The highest placed Mountain and Moorland in each class will receive entry to the pre-judging of the Mountain & Moorland Supreme Final. Providing they are Members. This may-be carried down to 4th place. To be registered with a Breed Society holding a currently Breed Society passport. 4

7 Young Rider Championship qualification. A Young Rider qualification will be awarded to the young rider of the Judge s choice, entitling them to enter the Young Rider Championship Prior to the Supreme Final This award is given at the Judge s discretion. Non Members to receive an orange card. One qualification per ridden age category. Members to have their show card signed. NPS (The National Pony Society) Affiliation Number: S1.066 NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 31st July -2nd August 2018 The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. The NPS/HIGHBROOK STUD M&M In Hand Summer Championship (MM-IH) Classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies in the main body of their studbook. Owner s membership cards must be shown in the ring to receive qualifications. Foals are not eligible. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championship: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 31 st July 2 nd August NPS/KILMANNAN STUD M&M In Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship (SM-MMIH): A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M In Hand section. The Sponsor s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the qualification. Membership cards must be presented in the ring to receive the medal and/or the qualification. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in either the NPS / Kilmannan Stud M&M In-Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in Malvern, or at the Championship Show in Scotland. Qualifiers may only compete in one Kilmannan final. 5

NPS Scotland NFU Mutual Open In-hand Riding Pony/Hunter Pony This show is a qualifying round for the above finals which will be held at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 24th August The rules for these competitions are as follows: 1. Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final. Ponies that take a second qualifier for the same section will not be allowed to enter the final. 2. All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part bred, X registered ponies, ponies in the appendices of their main stud book and Eriskays are not eligible. 3. Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 4th place. 4. A Judge is not obliged to award an NPS Scotland Finals qualification if he/she feels that the pony is not of a sufficient standard 5. Closing Dates for Entries: Competitors qualifying at Shows held before Monday 4th June 2018 must send their qualifying cards and entries in by Thursday 28th June Shows after 5th June 2018 adhere to a closing date of 1st August 2018 and Late Entries will NOT be accepted. Competitors that qualify at late shows after the 1st August 2018 are required to the secretary and send in the qualifying cards within 3 days of the show. 6. Cavasson nosebands are the only nosebands permitted in flat ridden classes. 7. Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your entry form. 8. The OWNER must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals. 9. All ridden ponies must be shown off the lead rein except in the specified Lead Rein Qualifier Class. 10. In Mountain and Moorland classes riders of stallions must be 12 years old or over when riding small breeds (Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh A & B). For large breeds (Highland, Fell, Dales, Connemara, New Forest, Welsh C & D) riders of stallions must be 14 years old or over. 11. A child must have attained their 12th birthday as of the 1st January in the current year to either strip or lunge pony at a NPS show, except for stallions where age will same as in the Rule Book to ride a stallion. 12. Handlers of stallions or colts must be 14 years old or over. 13. Handlers of ponies in In Hand classes aged 14 years and under must wear a correctly secured skull caps/riding hat that meets the current standards. 14. The Final will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 24th August

9 BRITISH SHOW PONY SOCIETY Affiliation No This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS), Affiliation No , and all persons entering, competing showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS, are subject to the Rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. 515 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS BLUE RIBAND PONY OF THE YEAR, the 1st. and 2nd. prize-winners in the Lead Rein, First Ridden OR Open Show Pony OR Open Working Hunter Pony OR Open Show Hunter Pony OR Open Intermediate WH. SRT and SH Classes will qualify. 516 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS CHALLENGE, :-Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Int and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2018 Horse of The Year Show in the appropriate class. 517 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League, the 1st. 2nd. 3rd. & 4th placed ponies in the Lead Rein and First Ridden,128cms., 138cms. and 148cms. Show Pony, Lead Rein Hunter Type, 122cms., 133cms., 143cms. and 153cms. Show Hunter Pony, Cradle and Nursery Stakes, 133cms., 143cms. and 153cms. Working Hunter Pony, Intermediate Show Riding, Show Hunter and Working Hunter classes and the Open Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Heritage Ridden Small, A& B & C & D s and Large Breeds and the Open Heritage WHP classes, and 1st to 4th in Mixed Height Open Classes. 518 This Show is a qualifier for the R.I.H.S. Only one pony in each of the three Open (Except Royal Windsor Horse Show The highest placed pony not already qualified will qualify), Show Pony OR Nursery Stakes OR Open W.H.P. OR Lead Rein Hunter Type, OR Open S.H.P. Classes, OR Lead Rein Class OR First Ridden Class OR Open Intermediate S.R., S.H., and W.H. OR Mixed Height Pretty Polly Show Pony, Pretty Polly Mixed Height SHP, Pretty Polly Int SRT/SH Pretty Polly Heritage Mixed Breeds Ridden, Heritage M&M Pretty Polly Lead Rein, First Ridden, OR Open Heritage Lead Rein and First Ridden, Open Heritage Ridden OR the Anglo and Part Bred classes qualifies, and the highest placed, (not already qualified), from the first THREE ponies placed in each class will qualify. N.B. THE R.I.H.S. QUALIFICATION IS SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION FROM B.S.P.S. HEAD OFFICE. 519 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Mini Show Pony, the Champion Mini WHP, the Champion Open Show Pony, the Champion Open WHP/WH., the Champion Open SHP the Champion Open Intermediate. In Mixed height classes the first prize winner will qualify. 519a THE HERITAGE WOW FACTOR Open to ponies that have been placed First in Heritage affiliated Open/Restricted classes during the Winter and Summer seasons to qualify for the Winner of Winners at the B.S.P.S. Summer Championship show. In Mixed height classes the first prize-winner will qualify. 521 This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Best Rider of the Year. The Best Rider in the Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Lead Rein Hunter Type, 128cms. 138cms. and 148cms. Show Pony, the 122cms. 133cms. 143cms. and 153cms. SHP., the Cradle and Nursery Stakes, the 133cms. 143cms. and 153cms. WHP., the Intermediate Show Riding Type, Show Hunter, Working Hunter classes and Open Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden and to the best rider 25years and under in the Heritage Ridden and WHP classes will receive a Card and qualify for the final at the B.S.P.S. Summer Championships Show. 522 Owners and riders must be B.S.P.S. Members before the date of the show to qualify in classes with qualification for BLUE RIBAND, R.I.H.S., (including Pretty Polly and 6 Heritage qualifying classes), and OLYMPIA., and animals must be registered with the 7

10 B.S.P.S. except for the Anglo and Part Bred Arabs who must be registered with the AHS. Membership forms and payment must be received in the office no later than the last working day (Monday to Friday) prior to the date of the qualifying show. (see Rule 22) 524 This Show is a qualifier for the 2018 B.S.P.S. Championships Show, to be held at Arena UK. The 1st and 2nd prize winners only in the following classes, (State the Class numbers), and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize-winners in the Open Intermediate S.R.T. (including Mixed height) W.H. and S.H.T. and C.S. and Heritage Classes will qualify, in MIXED HEIGHT CLASSES the 1st. 2nd. 3rd. and 4th. placed ponies will qualify for the B.S.P.S. Championships Show, provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 21 and 26 and ridden by a B.S.P.S. member. Hats In ALL Classes, correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats, numbers All PAS015, VG1, (BS)EN , ASTM F a onwards, SNELL E2001, SNELL E2016 AS/NZS onwards, MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted. Hats should have a plain cover either Black, Navy Blue, Brown, Grey or Green. Velvet covers are encouraged. BSPS SCOTLAND ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY ARISING FROM A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REGULATION. HAT CHECKS FOR COMPLIANCE WILL BE MADE. Height Certificate New ruling regarding pony registrations, a height certificate is no longer required for Membership unless it is a HOYS, RIHS, Olympia or Blue Riband qualification. Rules 5 and 21 in the Rule book explains the new ruling. 8

11 WORKING HUNTERS Course builder Mr G Barclay, Falkirk Judges Mrs Rosemary Hetherington, North Yorkshire (C) & Ms Alice Greenwood, Dumfriesshire (R) WORKING HUNTER SECTION IS SPONSORED BY LYNCH HOMES Friday Classes Marking System: To be judged 60% for jumping performance, 40% as for Hunter Classes. The Jumping to be judged 40% actual jumping and 20% style and presence. Ride and conformation 40%. Fences to a minimum of six in number. No change of rider or tack will be allowed. The manner of going to be taken into account. Refusals to be severely penalised. The judge has the sole authority to transfer any animal from one section to another. Open to singles, pairs, multiples to a traditional type vehicle. The essence of the class is the word elegance and the winner will be the turnout, which, in the opinion of the Judge, presents the most elegant effect. To include vehicle, horse, driver, passenger etc. but above all the general impression. Attention may be paid to driver s/passengers personal costume, but fancy dress or period costume is definitely barred. The whole object of the class is to establish which turnout presents the most pleasing picture and normal judging criteria does not apply. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are NOT closely inspected. To be driven at park pace. Class 6 Private Driving Class Horse or pony, 4 years old or over, driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyred vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. Open WHP Championship. Rider any age, except stallions (see rules). Riders may only ride one pony in each class. The owner does not have to be an NPS Scotland member for the pony to enter this competition, but the owner must become a member to enter the final. The course will consist of a minimum of seven fences, one of which must be a spread, a change of direction must be included. If a hazard is included, it will be numbered and judged as a fence. Ponies may be shown in any suitable bridle. All ponies forward for final judging must be stripped. The 2 highest placed ponies, in each class not already qualified, will qualify for the Final which will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 24 th August Qualifications to go no lower than 4th place. POSTAL ENTRY FORMS should be lodged with the Light Horse Secretary as early as possible and NO LATER THAN the Friday 6th April ONLINE ENTRIES should be lodged by Monday 16th April ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THESE DATES and no reminders will be given. Fax and entries will not be accepted at any time. 2. Thereafter, ALL late entries will only be taken on the day AT DOUBLE ENTRY FEE. 3. POSTAL ENTRY FORMS should be filled in as clearly as possible, preferably in BLOCK LETTERS. The name entered under Exhibitor s Name POSTAL & ONLINE is the one that will be used in the results. 4. COMPLETED POSTAL ENTRY FORMS should be carefully checked and signed by the Exhibitor or their Agent and sent by post to: Light Horse Entries, Ayr County Show, Gibbs Yard Steading, Auchincruive, Ayr KA6 5HW. Please ensure parents countersign children s entries. COMPLETED ONLINE ENTRY will require to be carefully checked with Rules & Regulations of the Association AGREED. 5. ADMISSION TICKET ALLOCATIONS FOR LIGHT HORSE & PONY SECTION: 1 horse 2 wristbands; 2-4 horses 3 wristbands; over 4 horses 5 wristbands. Additional Admission wristbands can be bought at per person Saturday ONLY. NO Wristbands will be required for FRIDAY classes. 6. POSTAL PAYMENT - all entries must be accompanied by the correct amount, cheques or postal orders made payable to AYRSHIRE AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION. No entry will be deemed to be accepted until all entry monies have been paid. COMPETITORS CHEQUES NOT HONOURED BY THE BANK will incur bank charges plus 10% administration charges. ONLINE ENTRIES PAYMENT via Pay Pal where an Administration Cost of 2 is added prior to payment. 7. RIGHT RESERVED TO REFUSE ENTRIES. The Show Committee reserves to themselves the right of refusing or cancelling entries from any person. 8. The Committee reserves the right to combine any classes in the event of insufficient entries or split the class in the event of oversubscribed entries. 9. THE AYRSHIRE AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION IS NOT LIABLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE, neither will the Association be accountable for any accident that may occur to any person attending the Show whether as a visitor, exhibitor or otherwise. 10. The Judge has the FINAL decision on Entry to the Ring. 11. The Ayrshire Agricultural Association will not be held responsible for exhibitors being late for a class. 12. All animals MUST be sound. If in the opinion of the Judge, an animal is considered to be unsound it will be asked to leave the ring. 13. PROTESTS - any protest must be lodged by a person having an interest. The said objections must be lodged in writing with the Secretary at the Show or within seven days of the Show, and must state specifically the grounds of objection, and must be accompanied by a deposit of WEARING OF RIDING HATS - All riders must wear hats that conform to the current BSI standards. 15. DOGS - should be kept on the lead at all times. 16. STABLES There will be no stabling at Ayr Racecourse for exhibitors this year - a list of private stabling within 25 miles of Ayr can be found on inside back cover of schedule. 17. The Horse Passports (Scotland) Regulations 2005, Amended 2007, replaces the Horse Passport (Scotland) Regulations 2005, and requires all equidae (horses, ponies, donkeys, asses and mules), regardless of age or status, to be accompanied by a passport. Animals born or passports issued, on or after 1 July 2009 must be fitted with a microchip. This would include, without exception, equines used for agricultural purposes, riding ponies, pets, companion animals, hacks, competition animals etc. Foals that are unweaned and accompanying their dam or foster mare may move to a show without a passport. Passports can be held by the horse owner or keeper but should remain with the horse at all times; in particular, passports must accompany the horse when it is moved. 18. The Organisers retain the right to amend the schedule to facilitate the smooth running of the show. 19. Foul language or abusive behaviour towards people or animals will NOT be tolerated, and will result in expulsion from the Show ground. 20. Competitors are required to take home any rubbish as a matter of courtesy. 21. First aid cover will be available for the duration of the show. 22. A Vet will be available for the duration of the show. 23. No Farrier will be available. EXHIBITORS WRISTBANDS Each Exhibitor will be issued with wristbands, for personal use only, entitling entry to the Showground. Wristbands are not transferable. EXHIBITORS CAR PARK Exhibitor Car pass will be sent out with Admission Wristband s. Lorries or cars not displaying an official pass will be directed by Traffic Police/Security to the Public Car Park.
