Cody DuBose led the Pledge of Allegiance, Molly Frost led the 4-H Motto and 4-H Pledge and Andy Polasek led the 4 -H Prayer. Corinna Mendez called roll and read the minutes of the last meeting. Andy Homemaking report. Hailey Robinette gave the County Council report. We announced that buckle letters and buyers letters should be turned into the Extension Office. Entry receipts were handed out. New business was then discussed and members received their premium checks, resale checks, and homemaking checks. The meeting was then adjourned. 5 Scholarship Information The following scholarship applications are available at the Extension Office San Patricio County Farm Bureau Scholarship i San Patricio County Farm Bureau will be granting $2, to one ag major and one non ag major. Applicant parents or legal guardian must have been a member of San Pat County Farm Bureau for one year prior to applications and the membership must stay in good standing during the entire scholarship period. Applicant must be a graduating senior of a High School within San Patricio County or entering Sophomore year at a University/College, or a vocation or technical school. Deadline for the return of this application to the San Patricio County Farm Bureau Office shall be no later than 5:00 PM April 18, To fill out the above applications online, please visit or for additional information on the above scholarships please call or come by the Extension Office. Buccaneer Scholarship Fund The Buccaneer Commission is a non profit group dedicated to raising money for area youth scholarships. The Commission has committed to over $500,000 in scholarship dollars to area youth. When you support Buc Days, You Support our Youth! Scholarships represent 25 South Texas Area High Schools and Area College Students. Please check for more information or to download applications Scholarships Opportunities: Buc Days Queens & Kings Contestants Qualified candidates will participate in the Miss Buc Days and the Buc Days King competitions. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in the opening of Buc Days, including the "Capturing and Dunking of the Mayor" event, attending the Buc Days PRCA Rodeo, the Buc Days Coors Light BBQ Cook off and the Buc Days IBC Bank Junior Parade as well as other events. Calf Scramble Winners Each Buc Days Miller Lite PRCA Rodeo performance contains the Calf Scramble - sponsored by Allied Waste. 24 participants that retrieve a calf from the arena during this event wins a $100 certificate good towards a Junior Livestock Show project. Math & Science Students Apply for $2,500 towards your first semester of school at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi as a Mathematics, Physics or Engineering Major! Maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 for renewal consideration. The criteria for this scholarship include a financial aid review from the University. Applications can be found at area High School Counselor offices or by contacting Misty Martinez at Texas A&M University, Del Mar Music Students An endowment is established at Del Mar College for their music department. The amount of scholarship varies annually. To apply for this scholarship, please contact Del Mar College at Rodeo Scholarship The Buccaneer Commission will award one local youth a $4,000, 4 year rodeo scholarship to attend Sul Ross State University to be part of their rodeo team. Process Technologies Four process technologies scholarships to Del Mar College will be awarded to students interested in building a career in one of the Process Technology trades. To apply for this scholarship, contact Del Mar College at ATTENTION: If you would like a letter of recommendation for your scholarship or school applications, please let the office know within a reasonable amount of time. DON T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

6 4-H Roundup Activities Texas 4-H Photography Entries will be accepted between April 1 15, 2012 on 4-H Connect. All senior 4-H members will be required to upload their photos into 4-H Connect as they enter the event. Please refer to the 2012 Photography Rules on how to format the file names. It is extremely important that file names are correctly labeled to prevent disqualification and/or loss of photos. 7 The Medical, Activity, Safety and Health Camp provides an opportunity for youth to learn about nutrition, physical activity, health and safety, as well as explore a variety of careers available in the health education field. The three-day, two-night camp will be conducted at Texas A&M University in College Station, June The camp is open to any youth in Texas that is in the 7th thru 11th grades Camp will allow participants to: *Discover career opportunities in the areas of medicine, health and safety, and nutrition*learn about sports training and nutrition for athletes*practice skills and techniques used by medical professionals*learn about veterinary professional careers*experience careers of first responders*gain knowledge of nutrition and healthy living, all while having fun*acquire knowledge of higher education opportunities at Texas A&M University For more info go to : State 4-H Dog Show July Conroe, Texas 2012 Texas Pork Leadership Camp June 3-8, 2012 The Texas 4-H Dog Show has been a great success for 40 years! Competitors from all over the state, ranging in age from 8 to 18. All breeds, including mixed, are welcome to compete after they have met the minimum requirements. Dog and 4-H member teams can compete in five different classes, such as: obedience or rally, conformation, showmanship, drill team, and/or costume. For more information go to This is a unique opportunity for 4-H students that have an interest in swine projects and want to get to know more about the pork industry. The camp is a traveling bus tour with visits at key industry locations for 16 students and the chaperones. This camp is not like any other camp; it starts in Perryton, TX and ends in College Station, TX. This camp is for 4-H members who were in enrolled for the year as high school juniors or seniors. Application deadline is April 16, 2012 and can be picked up at the Extension Office.

Prime Time This camp is designed especially for youth in grades 2-5 with opportunities to meet new friends, develop new skills, and learn how to work with others. Two sessions of Prime Time 11 are scheduled. Prime Time I - July 22-25, grades 5-8 Prime Time II - July 25-28, 2011 grades 2-5 The total early registration fee for participants is $ for the 3 night, 4 day event. Discount for registering by June H membership is NOT required to participate in any camp. This cost covers all meals, lodging, refreshments, health care services, facility and programming fees. To register go to: The 4-H Center is a fully accredited ACA (American Camping Association) facility and boasts modern, air conditioned dorms, full service dining hall and other amenities TCFA Junior Fed Beef Challenge July 28, 2012 West Texas A&M University Canyon, Texas Open to all youth 3rd through 12th grades, the objective of the Junior Fed Beef Challenge is to encourage young people to gain practical experience in feeding commercial beef cattle. This program stresses the importance of proper animal husbandry and financial management. As a Mentor, they may be asked to work individually with a camper needing special attention or with the entire group. Mentors will shadow the 4 H Conference Center Counselor and be available to assist in whatever capacity that is needed. Mission Possible is a unique camping experience for all your; special effort is made to recruit youth with special needs.

Adult supervision is required. DEADLINE: Only the first 200 Paid Entries will be Accepted - Get them in early! No Refunds after May 1st. Horizons is a camp featuring six different 4-H project learning programs. Each participant will select from one of the six programs to be offered. These include: robotics, culinary arts, clothing & textiles, dog project, natural resources and creative leadership. It will also include many of the fun activities you have come to enjoy at the 4-H Center, such as dancing, swimming and lots more. Registration covers all meals, lodging, refreshments, health care services, facility and programming fees for the 4 night, 5 day event. Registrations accepted on a first come first served basis until the camp is filled. 11 2012 Texas 4-H Horse Validation Process 2012 Texas 4-H Horse Validation Program Update New for this year: 1.) All validations will now be electronically completed using the 4-H CONNECT online management system. All 4-H members who wish to show in a district or the state 4-H Horse Shows will be required to validate their horses on the 4-H CONNECT system. 2.) Have digital photos of your horses from the front, left side and right side. These photos must be accessible for upload during the validation process. 3.) For registered horses, you need to have a pdf copy of your horses registration papers for upload. 4.) Validation will be open from April 1 - May 1, Any horse validated before or after this date will not be accepted as a legitimate validated animal. 5.) Validation cost for each horse will be $10. Each 4-H family validating horses will need More information can be found at the following website: 58th Annual Youth Range Workshop June 24-29, 2012 Texas Tech University Junction Campus This workshop is for youths at least 14 years of age and have finished 8th grade but not finished high school. The workshop is structured to provide critical knowledge in the areas of stewardship, rangeland ecology, plant species & growth, watershed management, range livestock & wildlife needs and many more hands on activities.
