Our next meeting will be August 10, The August meeting will count towards the 5 meeting requirement for showing in the September 2016 Fair. Stitch & Design-Is planning our summer trip on July 22. We will be traveling to Galveston to explore beachwear and other types of clothing, as well as have fun on the beach! Good luck to Sydney Faust and the Duds to Dazzle team (Syndey Faust, Lani Pieper, and Alexus Davis) at State Roundup! Our next scheduled meeting will be in August.

2 June 2 RSVP by June 6th June 6th June 6-10th June 7th June 9th June 13th June 13th Recordbook Training: June 2 6:30pm at the Extension office. All members are encouraged to complete a recordbook. We will cover any changes for 2016 and give an overview of what is expected. Recordbooks are due to the extension office on June 20 th by 5pm. 4-H County Day Camp- The 2016 County Day Camp will be conducted on Monday, June 13 at the Burleson County EXPO building in Caldwell. Registration will be from 1P.M. to 1:30P.M. The camp will start at 1:30 P.M. and conclude promptly at 8P.M. at the Caldwell Swimming Pool. Cost is $7 if pre-paid in the Extension Office or $10 at the door. (4-H Council Members leading the event are also asked to pay) This is a great 4-H outreach activity. Invite friends and encourage them to join 4-H! All school aged kids are welcome, but camp participants must be at least 5 years old. Everyone must have a medical release signed by a parent or legal guardian (Please contact our office). Be sure and mark if swimming is allowed or not. The 4-H Council members will meet to prepare for the camp at 9A.M. that morning. Please RSVP to the office at (979) by June 6th. Burleson County Fair Queen Mandatory Meeting 2016 State Roundup-The 2016 TX 4-H Roundup will be held in College Station on the campus of Texas A&M University from June 6-10th, For more information check out. Roundup Trade Show and Career Exposition- June 7th in College Station. The Texas 4-H Roundup Trade Show is a great way for businesses and universities to meet prospective students, customers, and employees. The youth and adults at 4-H Roundup are very interested in learning about education and career opportunities offered. Scholarship- Discover Science Method Research Poster Contest TX 4-H Roundup: Thurs. June 9, The Discover Science Method Research Poster contest will allow youth to apply the scientific method to subject matter of interest or that they have learned through 4-H projects. The scientific method is a process or formulating and testing hypotheses through experimentation and research. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to 1st place of each category in the Senior Age Division. If you would like a flyer for details please call (979) H County Day Camp EXPO Deadline to order broilers 7:00PM Final Poultry Meeting This is the last mandatory meeting for the Burleson County Fair. This is also your last chance to order broilers. Michael Vader the Poultry Judge for the 2016 Burleson County Fair will be giving a presentation. All exhibitors are invited to attend. If you have any questions please call Beverly Blinka (979) State Fair Lamb and Goat Validation 4-6 p.m. at the Burleson County Fairgrounds If you purchased a tag for State Fair Lamb or Goat we will validate at this time. Please contact the office with any questions. If you purchased a tag for major show steer validation, they will be validated at this time. Also, if you have a heifer that is not validated and plan on showing her at the State Fair you will need to have her validated on this day. Heifers will only be validated one time in her show career. You must have registration papers In your exhibitors name at the time of validation. If you already have an official copy, you can drop a color copy off at the extension office or bring them to validation. Major Show Turkey Order due to extension office BCF Swine Tag in 7-11 a.m. at BC Fairgrounds District Horse Show 4-H Make Up Meeting Extension Office 4-H RECORDBOOKS DUE TO THE EXTENSION OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!! Leadership Adventure (lab) June at Texas A&M Galveston: Cost: $255/person (Adult Leaders will cover the entire cost). Must register on 4-H connect ( by May 30, Late registration will be accepted June 1 through June 16 for an additional $ Leadership Adventure is a 3 day, two night leadership training for 4-H youth. It is designed to prepare District 9 4-H members for various leadership roles at the county, district, and state level. Participants gain valuable knowledge and skills. This is an excellent opportunity to meet other 4-H members and to add to leadership for record book and future scholarship opportunities. A great program is planned as well a trip to Schiltterbahn for one afternoon. Ages: All Senior aged youth (grades9th -12 th as of August 31, 2015) may participate including graduating 2016 seniors. Youth that have completed the 8 th grade as of Leadership Adventure dates may also participate. County Camp in Brownwood- County Camp is co-ed camp that features traditional camp experiences and offers activities such as kayaking, swimming, shooting sports, environmental education, art, dancing, and much more! Camp will take place July 6-8th, 2016 (Session III). Registration is $190 for youth & $90 for adults. July 8-10th July 16-18th State Dog Show- at the Bell County EXPO. The State Dog Show is held each year in July, and offers classes in agility, rally, obedience, costume, tricks, drills, showmanship, and conformation. Some counties host 4-H Dog shows. These contest will be publicized on the project page on the 4- H members tab. Train Like a Champion Blinn College Livestock Judging Camp: July for ages 14 & up and July for ages Cost to attend is $250 and registration deadline is July 1 st. I place a priority on finding hogs that are square built, tall fronted and good in their center body as these traits allow them to be heavy muscled and yet still balanced when viewed from the side. Hogs should also be flexible off both ends and be athletic in their movement. At the end of the day I try to use functional ones that still look like show hogs. Color doesn t matter to me and I have used gilts and barrows to win shows. I also don t care about weight as I will use what I think is the best hog to win, even if it is a light weight. Dear 4-H Parents and Members, As of June 1, I will no longer be the office manager of the Burleson County Extension Office. I have accepted a new position at Texas A&M as the Strengthening Families Coordinator for Burleson County. As this is an exciting opportunity for me, I will miss working with each of you.
