Cooks Point 4-H will meet Wednesday, August 7p.m. at the Cooks Point Community center. Caldwell 4-H will meet August 1st and 7p.m. in the CMS cafeteria. Goat Club-will meet August 9th at 6:30p.m. at the fairgrounds, bring your goat/lamb. They will also host a showmanship clinic on the 25th. Rabbit Club-will not meet again until October. Somerville 4-H-does NOT meet in the summer. 4-H Horse Club will meet in August and elect officers. Frenstat 4-H will meet August 1st at 7PM at the Frenstat Recreation Hall. Stich & Design-will NOT meet in August Snook 4-H-Snook 4-H Meeting will be on Wednesday, August 8. We will meet at Grand Station for bowling from 5:30 to 7:00. At 7:00 we will proceed to Chicken Oil Company for supper and officer installation. Please RSVP by Tuesday, August 7 so that we may plan accordingly. Hope to see everyone there.
2 WHAT S HAPPENING IN AUGUST... August 4th Gulf Coast Classic: Angleton, TX for more information This is a great educational opportunity for those involved in livestock projects. August 6th-Baked Foods Validation 6-7:00P.M. at the EXPO August 8th-Back to School Blast Holly is looking for volunteers for the 2018 Back to School Blast held on Wednesday, August 8th. The event will be held at the Pavilion in downtown Caldwell on Fox Street from 6-8:00P.M. Please contact Holly Narro if you plan on volunteering for this great community event. Holly.Narro@ag.tamu.edu or (979) August 13th-Little Miss forms are in our office and on our website. Forms are due by August 13th at the Meeting. **MUST BE 4 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 26TH** August 13th-14th-4-H Connect down for maintenance August 15th 4-H Connect Opens for the H Year August 15th-Deadline to register for the 4-H Award Banquet. Please call (979) or kaydie.degelia@ag.tamu.edu August 17th-BCF Broilers distributed at the EXPO on August 17th from 4-5:30p.m. Entry fees will be paid at this time. A parent or guardian must be present. August 17th-State Fair Of TX entries due by 5p.m. August 17th-Heart O TX entries due by 5p.m. August 17th-Major Show Lamb/Goat Tag Orders Due August 17th. If you plan on showing a lamb or goat at one of the 2018 Major Shows (Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Rodeo Austin, San Angelo) you will need to purchase validation tags. Cost is $20 per tag. Please fill out and return the form with payment to the Extension Office by August 17th. Tags will not be ordered until payment is received. This is just for validation tags and does not enter you into the major shows. August 19th-4-H Award Banquet The 4-H Award Banquet will be held on Sunday, August 19th at 6P.M. at the EXPO Center. Please call the office to RSVP for this event by August 15th. See page 5 for more information. August 23rd Jr. Breeding Heifer Entry-5P.M. Tattoo BCF Fryer Rabbits-5:30-7P.M. 7P.M. Deadline to purchase fryer rabbits for the 2018 Burleson County Fair August 25th-Goat club will be hosting a showmanship clinic at the fairgrounds from 8-10a.m. *Bring your project(s). Major Show (Austin, Houston, & San Antonio) Broilers Orders Due-September 7th: $1.50/bird ($37.50 per 25 chicks, min. Order) Each exhibitor May order an individual set of birds (up to 75) OR siblings within the same household may order and share a set of birds (up to 75). In other words, a family with multiple exhibitors can order an individual set of birds for each exhibit or in the family, OR if they wish, they can order one set of birds for the entire family. In either case, the maximum number of birds in a set that an exhibitor can select from for the show is 75 birds. Please note: families with multiple exhibitors are NOT required to place a single order for the entire family. Family orders are an option. NOTE: Rodeo Austin & Houston will use separate birds this year. If you plan on showing in either one or both you will have to order separate sets of birds.

If your name is on the list please make every effort to attend the banquet. The cost of the meal for the youth, who are being recognized will be covered by the Adult Leaders Association. 7 BURLESON COUNTY 4-H KOLACHE BAKE SHOW What kind of Kolaches are you going to prepare for the 34th Annual Kolache Bake Show? Will it be apple, cheese, sausage, or a mix? Be ready for the Bake Show September 8th. Entry forms are available at the Extension Office. NATIONAL FOOD CHALLENGE October 2nd State Fair of Texas Dallas TRACTOR SUPPLY CLOVER CAMPAIGN Fall October 3-14th at this semi-annual event, friends and family are invited to support 4-H by donating a $1 at check-out in stores that contribute to scholarships that send kids to 4-H camps and other leadership and experiences. ONE DAY 4-H October 7, 2018 Lend a hand to your community on One Day 4-H. This event allows 4-H members, parents, and volunteers to help their communities through service projects. This event is flexible and can be as straightforward ot intricate as you like. NATIONAL 4-H CONGRESS November 22-27, years old Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia Registration: Apply and make payment online at 4-H connect online. The National 4-H Congress is a gathering of a national design team of extension educators, 4-H members, and 4-H volunteers who together examine issues affecting your community and try to develop methods to address those issues. TEXAS 4-H LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE November 22-27, 2018 Washington, D.C. Texas 4-H Leadership Conference, also known as The Recordbook Trip is a recognition event for senior level 4-H members (grades 9-12) who have placed first at the State Level in on of the 29 categories.
