They will not meet again until October. 4-H Goat Club- will be meeting on June 6:30p at the fairgrounds. Bring your goat/lamb project for hands-on demonstration and showmanship practice. Frenstat 4-H-will have their Summer Pool Party at the CALDWELL pool on Friday June 8 from 6-8. Caldwell 4-H -will not meet in June or July. We will have one more meeting for the year in August. 2 What s Happening in June? TEXAS 4-H CONGRESS Late Registration: June 1st-June 15th July 22-25, 2018 Sheraton Austin at the Capitol Open to 4-H members in 9th to 12th grades. Join Texas 4-H in Legislative Process as you submit, debate, and decide the fate of legislation affecting Texas! 4-H Youth participate as members of the House of Representatives/Senate, Press Corps, or Lobbyist! To learn more about Texas 4-H Congress, Submit Bills, and Apply for Press and Lobbyists Corps, visit: texas4-h.tamu.edu/ events/congress/ 2018 POULTRY INSTITUTE FOR YOUTH June 10-12, 2018 Texas A&M University The institute is a 3 day camp for students with an interest in the poultry industry. Students will attend mini lectures taught by Texas A&M University staff on topics such as anatomy, embryology, immunology, nutrition, and processing. Students who have an interest in poultry and will be enrolled in the Fall 2018 semester as a high school junior, senior, or college freshman are eligible to attend. For any questions about the poultry institute for Youth please contact the Poultry Science Department at (979) TEXAS 4-H SHOTGUN DAY CAMP June 10-13, 2018 Boswell Porter 4-H Shotgun Range Snook, TX The range is located about fifteen minutes outside of College Station. Personal shooting equipment can be securely stored at the range after each day s training. The 2018 Texas 4-H Shotgun Day Camp will be limited to the first thirty five youth and six adult coaches. The Texas 4- H Shotgun Day camp is an event for 4-H Shooting sports members with intermediate shotgun experience and skill. This is not a program for beginners or first year shooters. This is also not a program for advanced shooters. The program aims to promote shotgun shooting skills in American Trap, American Skeet and 5-Stand Sporting Clay, as well as to promote youth development by enhancing teamwork and leadership skills and shooting sportsmanship. Each participant will receive intensive training in their choice of one of the above shotgun games. The camp is designed for youth who want to increase their performance by developing and improving shooting skills, mental discipline, self control and shooting etiquette on the field. The Shotgun Day camp Instructors are experienced and skilled 4-H coaches from across the sate who know their shotgun games and know 4-H Shooting Sports. The secondary purpose for this camp is to enhance the experience and skill of selected existing 4-H Shotgun Coaches. These coaches must have 4-H Shotgun Coach Certification and limited experience and limited skill in shotgun shooting sports. The selected adult coaches will shadow camp instructors. Youth: 5th-11th grade as of September 1, Must have been in a 4-H Shotgun project for a minimum of two years including the current year. Must be a intermediately skilled shooter, not be a beginner or an advanced shooter. Adults: All adult participants must have previously attended a 4-H Shotgun Coach Training/ Certification to be a certified Shotgun Coach and be currently enrolled as a volunteer on 4-H Connect. ROUNDUP TRADE SHOW AND CAREER EX- POSITION June 12-14, 2018 Texas A&M University College Station, TX The Texas 4-H Roundup Trade Show is a great way for businesses and universities to meet prospective students, customers, and employees. The youth and adults at 4-H Roundup are very interested in learning about education and career opportunities offered. They will also participate in their favorite events from the Texas 4-H Center such as challenge course, dances, and team challenge. (979) TX 4-H OUTDOOR CHALLENGE Seguin Outdoor Learning Center June 22-24, 2018 Events: Shotgun, off-road biking, archery, fishing, climbing, kayaking, rifle, biologist skills, gear judging, and outdoor safety. TX 4-H CALF ROPING & BREAK-A-WAY SCHOOL June 24-28th Tarleton State University Challenge Arena Stephenville, TX $425 Approximately 50 youth will be accepted. Application and fees must be mailed to be registered for the event. * All participants ages 11 years old and younger must be chaperoned by a parent/guardian in the dorms. Please note that all entries must follow the Texas Food Cottage Laws. Items defined by the USDA or FDA as requiring refrigeration include pumpkin, chess, or pecan WHOSE FILLINGS USE EGGS AND MILK AS A MAJOR COMPONENT, NOTHING MADE WITH CREAM CHEESE WILL BE AC- CEPTED. Baked items that need to be refrigerated will not be accepted. (i.e. cream cheese, whipped topping, ganache) For more information please look up the Texas DSHS Cottage Food Law. Recipes will be reviewed at validation and exhibitors may be asked to substitute part of or an entire recipe. FAIR BOOKS-Can be picked up at your next club meeting or at the Extension Office. 7 WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CAMP July 23-27, 2018 H.E. Sproul Ranch Ft. Davis, TX The Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society s Wildlife Conservation Camp is designed for high school students who have completed 9th grade. Hands-on, outdoor activities such as wildlife and plant ID, habitat management techniques, land stewardship, hunter safety, shooting sports, fishing, wildlife research, and more. These activities are led by wildlife professionals in Texas. ONE DAY 4-H October 7, 2018 Lend a hand to your community on One Day 4-H. This event allows 4-H members, parents, and volunteers help their communities through service projects. This event is flexible and can be as straightforward or intricate as you like. NATIONAL 4-H CONGRESS November 23-27, years old Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia Registration: Apply and make payment online at 4-H Connect Online The National 4-H Congress is a gathering of a national design team extension educators, 4-H members, and 4-H Volunteers who together examine issues affecting youth and try to develop method to address those issues. GULF COAST CLASSIC August 4, KIDS BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP Food network is looking for the most talented young bakers in the country for the next season of the KIDS BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP! Do you think your son or daughter was born to bake? Well if so, this is the perfect show for them! We are looking for kids between the ages of 8-13 who want to put their baking skills the ultimate test! The kids baking championship is an exciting show where young bakers compete in fun baking battles to become the next KIDS BAKING CHAMPION!! COUNTY CAMP IN BROWNWOOD County Camp I Texas 4-H Center-Lake Brownwood, TX July 5-7th, 2018 Youth: $180/Adult: $90 3rd grade and up. All camp enrollment is based on grade completed in spring of 2018, pay deposit by June 14th or pay full amount, late fee is 10%. All adult volunteers must enroll as a 4-H volunteer, have verified background check, and complete child protection training in 4-H Connect Prior to camp.
