D7 Food and Nutrition Community Service Project. SURVIVAL BAGS! This year at D7 Food and Nutrition Show we are going to make survival bags with non-perishable food items to give to homeless shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, churches and schools. Items to bring: Granola Bars, PB & cheese crackers, Single Serving dry cereal boxes, fruit snacks, fruit roll ups, Non refrigerated pudding, jell-0 and fruit cups. Food Challenge- Teams of 3 to 5 members need to be formed by Thursday, December 1 when we will have our County Food Challenge team formations practice. Teams must prepare a recipe from ingredients that are placed on their table for the contest. Group presents info on food safety, food preparation principles, nutrient content and functions, ChooseMyPlate, alterations and cost analysis. Please call the extension office before the Thanksgiving holidays if you are interested and with a list of who is on your team so that we will have enough space for each team. The District Contest will be in San Angelo on January 25. 3 MCCULLOCH 4-H -COUNTY WIDE EVENT McCulloch 4-H is for ALL 4-H members. Saturday, Nov. 5 4-H Bake Sale at Tractor Supply 9:00 am. If you can t be there you are welcome to drop off baked items at the Extension Office before Friday, Nov. 4, 4:00 pm. Trick or Treating for Helping Hands Monday, Oct. 31 at 5:30. If you missed it you missed a fun time. Thank you to Helping Hands board members for providing refreshments. Look for the pictures posted on Face Book. JR. LEADERSHIP RETREAT WHO: 4-H members ages 9-14 (and Adult Chaperones) WHAT: State level leadership development program WHERE: Texas 4-H Conference Center, Brownwood WHEN: Friday November 11 arrive 7:30-8:30 p.m. through Sunday, November 13 depart by 11:00 a.m. COST: $120 for youth, (includes two nights lodging, four meals, two evening snacks and program fees) To Register Go to the 4-H Center website: texas4hcenter.tamu.edu Click on Register Now link. 4 LIVESTOCK JUDGING Livestock practice will be Tuesdays, 6:30 pm at the Extension Office. Livestock G. Rollie White 9:30 Registration. We are in need of helpers for meal, registration and runners. Please call the Extension Office if you will be available to help. LIVESTOCK PROJECTS AND STOCK SHOWS Deadline for turning in Entries for County and Major Livestock Shows to Extension Office is Fri. Nov. 18. The County Show will be held January 12, 13, 14, Things to remember for the County Livestock Show. Validation. Finished for Cattle, Sheep, Goats and Rabbits. Sunday, November 20 from 3-5:00 is Validation for Swine Make up day is Tuesday, Nov 22 from 5:30-6:30 All animals must be presented to be Validated (Major show steers are already validated). After validation all animals should be on feed and in participants care if not already. Entry Before November 18, everyone must fill out an entry form (located at Extension Office) and pay the entry fee of $10 per animal. Validation is not Entry so if you validated an animal you must fill out Entry papers located at the Extension Office. Remember if you are showing Majors to have your Quality Counts number. Jrs that went to 9 th grade will have to update their number. County Stock Show January 12, 13, 14, 2017 at G. Rollie White. All Jr. exhibitors must participate in the workdays, (To be announced), it is mandatory that you participate or you will have a portion of your premium check withheld. In addition you must sell your 15 raffle tickets or have the balance withheld from your check. Money and stubs, or unsold tickets must be turned in on or before check in on Thursday, January 12.
