All Cattle must be TB tested negative within 12 months prior to the Show. A copy of their TB Test Certificate showing individual animal identification numbers must be received by the association with the entry forms or within one week of show. For all other areas Cattle 3 months of age and over, farmed or grazed inside a Declared TB Movement Controlled area must be negative to a TB test within 2 MONTHS prior to the start date of the Show. Owners entering cattle must sign the declaration printed on the entry form. INSPECTION: The committee reserves the right to inspect at random any cattle for identification to establish TB status. 18 RECIPES Class 1610 SULTANA CAKE: 250gms of soft butter 2 cups of sugar 3 cups of plain flour, 2 teaspoons of Baking Powder ADD 1 cup of milk, 2 cups sultanas 3 eggs - beaten before adding 1 teaspoon of each Lemon, Vanilla and Almond essence. Cook in a 9 tin lined with baking paper, in a mod. Oven 1 hour, until skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Proudly supporting the Rai Valley A & P Show

19 Class 1611 FRUIT CAKE: 225gms Butter 1 Cup Sugar ½ tsp Vanilla Essence ½ tsp Lemon Essence 1 tsp Cinnamon 1 tsp Ground Ginger 1 tsp Mixed Spice ¼ tsp Nutmeg 6 Eggs (Sixes) 1½ kg Mixed Fruit see below 450gms Drained Crushed Pineapple 3 Cups Flour Blanched Almonds & Cherries (Optional) ¼ Cup Brandy Mixed Fruit: 3 x 500gm Packets, 4 x 400gm Packets, or 3 & ½ x 450gm Packets METHOD Line a 23cm (9 ) cake tin with 2-3 layers of paper, finishing with a layer of grease proof paper, have the paper higher than the sides of the cake tin to prevent browning during cooking. Cream butter and sugar until light and smooth, add essences and spices. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add some of the measured flour between eggs if mixture shows signs of curdling. Stir the mixed fruit and well drained pineapple into the flour, stir the fruit and flour into the creamed ingredients using a wooden spoon, use a little more flour if necessary to produce a moist batter which will drop from the hand. Turn the mixture into the prepared tin, pushing it well into the corners, sprinkle blanched almonds and cherries over the surface of the uncooked cake if you are not going to ice it later. Bake at 150 C (300 F) for 2 hours, then at 130 C (250 F) for 1½ hours to 2 hours longer, until skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven and pour the brandy over it within 5 minutes, leave the cake to cool enough to handle, transfer to rack to finish cooling.

20 Class 1622 APPLE PIE: 125gms Butter ½ cup sugar 1 egg 1 ½ cups plain flour 1 teaspoon Baking Powder ¼ teaspoon salt. 8 Apples, peeled & chopped 1 teaspoon cornflour METHOD Cream butter & sugar. Beat egg. Sift in dry ingredients. Press ½ mixture into 9 round pie dish. Roll remaining mixture out for lid. Prepare filling: place apples place in bowl add ½ cup of sugar, 1 level tablespoon of corn flour and a good pinch of ground cloves. Mix well and put into prepared base. Lid the pie. Bake in mod oven, 30-40mins. SECTION 17 WINE, BEER & CIDER MAKING All wine to be in clear sauterne bottles and not marked with owners name. 34 RAI VALLEY A&P SHOW INFORMATION Please take note of the following information; it will help answer a lot of questions typically asked prior to the show. Our Association abides by the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand (RAS), except to any extent as they modified or varied by the Association own rules as set out below. For a full set of RAS Rules and by-law regulations please contact the secretary. COMPLETION OF ENTRY FORMS. All entry forms must be signed, legible, have required certificates attached, entry form calculated correctly, and subscription paid if a member. Incorrect entry forms will be returned for correction. Confirmation letters will be sent after processing, it is your responsibility to check the details, are correct and advise the secretary prior 20 th February of any errors. MEMBERSHIP Exhibitors aged 17 years and over must pay full entry fees unless members. Members will receive 2 Adult and 2 Children passes, all other persons will be admitted to the show grounds upon paying the usual admittance fee, whether exhibitors or not. To become a member please forward $20.00 with entry fee. PRIVACY ACT By completing an entry form or trade site application the competitor/ exhibitors accepts that their details maybe made available to the media for promotional, programme and/ or result purposes. GRAND PARADE The Grand Parade begins around 2.00pm (approx) on show day, all place winners are expected to parade. Any Horse and Pony and Cattle prize winners not taking part in the Grand Parade may have their prize money forfeited.

35 TROPHIES AND PRIZE MONEY Trophies must be returned to the show office on the morning of the show, or at an earlier date as agreed with the secretary or a committee member. Trophies or special prizes maybe substituted by sponsors To each class of Sheep, Cattle and Horse and Pony, two prizes maybe awarded. When there are seven or more entries in one class, third prize money may be paid to the value of half of the value of second prize. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS No refunds are given for classes not entered on the day. Substitution of another animal will not be permitted without the consent of the stewards and notification of the office. If an animal is scratched due to illness or injury, entry fees will be refunded to 80% on receipt of a vet certificate and letter requesting a refund. The association shall not be liable to the exhibitor for any compensation whatsoever as a result of the cancellation or postponement of the show. The association reserves the right to combine, split or delete classes according to entries received All exhibits must be on the show grounds and ready for judging at the time stated on the schedule, any exhibits not ready will be liable for disqualification.
