5 1 DESCRIPTION These instructions pply to the following models: S800H SB/SBW - S800H CBAC / FAAC S800H is n utomted system in hydrulic enbloc (CLASS III), permitting vehicle ccess through swing lef gtes which, when instlled invisibly in the ground, does not lter the ppernce of the gte. The model with hydrulic shut-down fcility does not require instlltion of n electricl lock, s it gurntees mechnicl shut-down of the lef up to 2 m when the motor is not operting. The model without hydrulic shut-down fcility lwys requires one or more electricl locks to ensure the lef is mechniclly shut down. The S800H utomted systems were designed nd built to utomte swing lef gtes. 6 4 INSTALLING THE OPERATOR IMPORTANT: REMOVE THE ENCODER (Fig.1 ref. i) BEFORE YOU BEGIN MECHANICAL INSTALLATION 4.1 OPERATOR WITHOUT MECHANICAL EMERGENCY RELEASE TURN THE KEY TILL REACHING THE MECHANICAL STOP-POINT AND WITHDRAW IT FROM THE PINION 1) Tke the gte to its open position. 2) Consulting the instructions in chpter 7.1, hydruliclly relese the opertor, using the key on the relese screw (Fig. 3 ref.) ENGLISH x1 Fig.3 3) On the opertor, unscrew the plug (Fig.4 ref. A) of the screw of the closing trvel limit device (Fig.4 ref. ) nd check if the screw is completely tight. 4) Bck off the closing trvel limit screw (Fig.4 ref. B) by one turn (IMPORTANT FOR CORRECT COUPLING OF THE PINION-GROOVED BUSH DURING INSTALLATION). 5) Turn the opertor pinion with the supplied wrench (Fig. 5 ref. ), in the gte closing direction s shown in Fig.5, up to the internl stop point of the piston, nd remove the key. 6) Without moving the pinion, insert the supplied wrench on the opertor s shown in Fig.6, nd mke sure tht it indictes 0 (ZERO) on the opertor s plstic pnel (Fig.6 ref.). If necessry rotte the pinion. (IMPORTANT FOR CORRECT COUPLING OF THE PINION-GROOVED BUSH DURING INSTALLATION). 7 NOTE: if necessry, lightly screw the closing trvel-limit screw 7) Remove the djustment wrench, screw the plug of the trvel limit screw nd grese the pinion. 8) Using the hndles, insert the opertor in the bering cse s shown in Fig.7-8, 9) Close the gte. 10) Rise the opertor with its hndles (Fig.10 ref. A), inserting the pinion in the grooved bush of the bering cse. To fcilitte the opertion, slightly rotte the opertor until coupling tkes plce. referring to the instructions in chpter 5. 14) Close the gte nd check if the closing trvel-limit stop is correctly positioned; if necessry, djust the trvel-limit stop, referring to the instructions in chpter 5. 15) Hydruliclly shut down the opertor s per instructions in chpter ) As described in the instructions for the control bord, mke the electricl connections, tking cre over encoder polrity. 17) Secure the cover of the bering cse with the supplied screws. 8 ENGLISH 4.2 OPERATOR WITH MECHANICAL RELEASE TURN THE KEY TILL REACHING THE MECHANICAL STOP-POINT AND WITHDRAW IT FROM THE PINION 1) Tke the gte to its open position. 2) Consulting the instructions in chpter 7.1, hydruliclly relese the opertor, using the key (Fig. 1 ref. r ) on the relese screw (Fig. 12 ref. ) 3) On the opertor, unscrew the cp (Fig.13 ref.a) of the closing trvel-limit screw (Fig.13 ref. ) nd check if the screw is completely tight. 4) Unscrew the closing trvel-limit (Fig.13 ref.) screw by one turn (IMPORTANT FOR CORRECT COUPLING OF THE PINION-MECHANICAL RELEASE DURING INSTALLATION). 5) Turn the opertor pinion with the supplied key, in the gte closing direction s shown in Fig.14, up to the internl stop point of the piston, nd remove the key. x1 Fig.12 B A Fig.14 INSERT THE KEY WITHOUT MOVING THE PINION AND CHECK IF IT INDICATES ZERO x1 TRAVEL-LIMIT STOP AT CLOSING TRAVEL-LIMIT STOP AT OPENING Fig.13 6) Without moving the pinion, insert the supplied key on the opertor s shown in Fig.15, nd mke sure tht it indictes 0 (ZERO) on the opertor s plstic pnel (Fig.15 ref.). NOTE: if necessry, lightly screw the closing trvel-limit screw. Fig.15

9 7) Remove the djustment key nd screw the cp of the trvel-limit screw 8) Lightly grese the opertor pinion. 9) Using the hndles, insert the opertor in the bering cse s shown in Fig.17 A,B 10) Tke the gte to its CLOSED position. 90 Fig.16 Fig.20 12) Tke the relesed gte into open position, mking sure tht the relesed prt freed from the gte remins in the gte closed position s shown in Fig.20 ref.. 13) Rise the opertor with its hndles (Fig.21 ref. Fig.21 14) Plce the supplied key under the opertor, s shown in figure 21, in order to support the motor. 15) Insert nd screw the fstening screws with groover nd wsher s shown in Fig. 21 C, in order to secure the opertor to the bering cse. 16) Close the gte nd re-lock it to the mechnicl relese. 10 ENGLISH 17) Open nd close the gte, checking nd, if necessry, djusting the respective trvel limit devices s described in chpter 5. 18) As described in the instructions for the control unit, mke the electricl connections, tking cre over encoder polrity. 19) Hydruliclly shut down the opertor s per instructions in chpter INTERNAL MECHANICAL TRAVEL-LIMIT STOPS (POSITIVE STOP) The S800H opertor is supplied stndrd with internl opening nd closing mechnicl stops. This is to fcilitte the instlltion opertions becuse there is no need to construct the mechnicl stop elements. The mechnicl trvel-limit stops (POSITIVE STOP) cn be djusted in the lst 30 of the opertor s MAXIMUM trvel, t both opening nd closing. FAAC SUPPLIES THE TRAVEL LIMIT DEVICES TOTALLY OPEN ( MAXIMUM PINION ROTATION ANGLE ), A B TRAVEL-LIMIT STOP AT CLOSING 5.1 ADJUSTMENT OF THE TRAVEL-LIMIT STOPS 1) Hydruliclly relese the opertor. (See chpt 7.1) 2) Close the lef, mnully tking it into its closed position. 3) Unscrew the cp (Fig.23 ref.a) of the closing trvel-limit screw (Fig.23 ref.) 4) Unscrew the trvel-limit stop screw (Fig.25 ref.b) t closing (Fig.25 ref.), until the lef begins to move. 5) Fsten the cp (Fig.23 ref.a) of the trvel-limit stop screw. 6) Open the lef, mnully tking it into its opening position. 7) Unscrew the cp of the screw (Fig.23 ref.a) of the opening trvel-limit stop (Fig.23 ref.b). 8) UNSCREW the trvel-limit stop screw (Fig.23 ref. b), until the lef begins to move. 9) Fsten the cp of the trvel-limit stop screw. 10) Open nd close the gte to check if the trvel-limit stop is correctly djusted. 11) Shut-down the opertor gin, following the instructions in chpter 7.1. TRAVEL-LIMIT STOP AT OPENING b CLOSING POSITION 6 FINAL OPERATIONS To void excessive voltge drops, we recommend tht the length of the motor cbles with section of 2.5 mm, should not exceed 20 m. The mximum totl length of the BUS cbles must not exceed 100 m. OPENING POSITION Fig.23 1) Plce the encoder in its set on the motor. 2) Connect the motor (Fig.1 ref. h) nd the encoder (Fig.1 ref. i) to the control unit, following the specific instructions. 3) Secure the cover of the bering cse with the supplied screws (Fig.24;25). 4) Where specified by current legl regultions, plce t lest two signs with the words Dnger: Automtic motion on both sides of the utomted system. 11 7.1 HYDRAULIC RELEASE OF THE OPERATOR If the gte hs to be moved mnully due to power cut or fult of the utomted system, use the hydrulic relese device with the relese key (Fig.26 ref. b): 1) Remove the cover from the bering cse. 2) Turn the relese screw (Fig.26 ref.) inserting the tringulr recess of the supplied key (Fig.26 ref. b): - To RELEASE, turn the screw nti-clockwise by one turn. (DO NOT COMPLETELY UNFASTEN THE SCREW TO AVOID OIL COMING OUT. - To SHUT-DOWN gin, turn the screw clockwise up to the mechnicl stop point. c RELEASE KEY Procedure for mnul lef opertion: b RELEASE LEVER PROTECTIVE HATCH Fig.28 ENGLISH 1) Open the protective htch (Fig.28 ref. b). 2) Insert the relese key in the lock (Fig.28 ref. c) nd turn it clockwise sense up to its stop point. 3) Pull the relese lever towrd you (Fig.28 ref. ). 4) Move the lef by hnd. b RELEASE SCREW RELEASE KEY Fig MECHANICAL EMERGENCY RELEASE (OPTIONAL) Procedure for restoring the system to norml opertion: 1) Move the relese lever bck to its rest position (Fig.27) 2) Insert the relese key in the lock (Fig.28 ref.c), turn it in the opposite direction up to the stop point nd remove it. 3) Close the protective plug of the lock. 4) Move the lef mnully until it hooks on the shut-down brcket. For the S800H opertor, mnul mechnicl emergency relese is vilble s n optionl item. If the gte hs to be moved mnully due to power cut or fult of the utomted system, use the relese key device. The device is inserted on the gte support brcket (Fig.27 ref. ) nd enbles you to relese the system from both inside nd outside the premises. RELEASE KEY 8 MAINTENANCE Run functionl check of the system t lest every 6 months, with specil ttention to the efficiency of the sfety nd relese devices (including the thrust force of the opertor), nd to perfect opertion of the gte hinges. The sfety devices instlled on the system must be checked every 6 months. 8.1 BLEEDING OPERATIONS SUPPORT BRACKET THE S800H OPERATOR IS SUPPLIED WITH THE HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT ALREADY AIR FREE. DO NOT BLEED. BLEEDING IS ONLY NECESSARY IN THE EVENT OF MAINTENANCE OF THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OR TOPPING-UP OIL LEVEL. RELEASE LEVER Fig.27 The presence of ir in the hydrulic circuit cuses the utomted system to operte incorrectly, i.e. fulty movement of the lef nd too much noise while operting. Procedure to void this problem: 1) Commnd the gte to open. 2) While the lef is moving, loosen the opening bleed screw (Fig.29 ref.) 10

12 ENGLISH 3) Using the bleed screw, llow the ir to come out from the hydrulic circuit until non-emulsified oil ppers. 4) Tighten the bleed screw before the opertor finishes the opening cycle. 5) Commnd the gte to close. 6) While the lef is moving, loosen the closing bleed screw (Fig.29 ref.b) 7) Using the bleed screw, llow the ir to come out from the hydrulic circuit until non-emulsified oil ppers. 8) Tighten the bleed screw before the opertor finishes the closing cycle. 9) Repet these opertions severl times. 10) Add oil till the oil level is just below the cp (Fig. 30, ref. ) CLOSING BLEED SCREW b OPENING BLEED SCREW Fig.29 Fig.30 11

13 GENERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS If correctly instlled nd used, the S800H utomted system ensures high degree of sfety. Some simple rules on behviour cn prevent ccidentl trouble: - Do not pss between the leves when they re moving. Wit for the leves to open fully before pssing through them. - Do not, on ny ccount sty in between the leves. Do not stnd ner the utomted system, nd do not llow children, persons or things to do so, especilly when it is operting. - Keep rdio controls or other pulse genertors wy from children, to prevent the utomted system from being ctivted involuntrily. - Do not llow children to ply with the utomted system. - Do not willingly obstruct lef movement. - Prevent ny brnches or shrubs from interfering with lef movement. - Keep the indictor-lights efficient nd esy to see. - Do not ttempt to ctivte the leves by hnd unless you hve relesed them. - In the event of mlfunctions, relese the leves to llow ccess nd wit for qulified technicl personnel to do the necessry work. - When you hve set mnul opertion mode, cut power to the system before restoring norml opertion. - Do not in ny wy modify the components of the utomted system. - Do not ttempt ny kind of repir or direct ction whtever nd contct qulified personnel only. - At lest every 6 month: rrnge for qulified personnel to check the efficiency of the utomted system nd the sfety devices. DESCRIPTION These instructions pply to the following models: S800H SB - S800H CBAC The FAAC S800H utomted system for swing lef gtes is hydrulic enbloc which, when instlled invisibly in the ground, does not lter the ppernce of the lef. The model with hydrulic shut-down fcility does not require instlltion of n electricl lock, s it gurntees mechnicl shut-down of the lef when the motor is not operting. The model without hydrulic shut-down fcility lwys requires one or more electricl locks to ensure the lef is mechniclly shut down. The S800H utomted systems were designed nd built to utomte swing lef gtes. Do not use for ny other purpose. Leves of up to 4 mt nd 800 Kg cn be utomted depending on the selected model. The functioning of the opertors is controlled by n electronic control unit, housed in n enclosure with dequte degree of protection ginst tmosphere gents. The leves re normlly in closed position. AUTOMATED SYSTEM S800H USER S GUIDE When the control unit receives n opening commnd vi the rdio control or ny other pulse genertor, it ctivtes the hydrulic pplince which rottes the leves until they rech the opening position to llow ccess. If utomtic mode ws set, the leves close utomticlly fter selected puse time hs elpsed. If the semi-utomtic mode ws set, second pulse must be sent to close the lef gin. A stop pulse (if supplied) lwys stops movement. For detils on the behviour of the utomted system in different function logics, consult the instlltion Technicin. Automted systems include sfety devices (photocells) tht prevent the leves from moving when there is n obstcle in the re they protect. The S800H utomted system is supplied stndrd with n electronic device which, when connected to suitble control unit, detects the presence of possible obstcle, nd reverses the movement of the lef. The wrning-light indictes the current lef movement. MANUAL OPERATION WARNING: BEFORE CARRYING OUT THE RELEASE AND SHUT-DOWN OPERATIONS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE CUT POWER TO THE OPERATOR. HYDRAULIC RELEASE OF THE OPERATOR If the gte hs to be moved mnully due to power cut or fult of the utomted system, use the hydrulic relese: 1) Unscrew the cover nd remove it. 2) Turn the relese screw (Fig.1 ref.) inserting the tringulr recess of the supplied key (Fig.1 ref.b): - To relese, turn the relese screw nti-clockwise up to the mechnicl stop point. - To shut-down gin, turn the relese screw clockwise up to the mechnicl stop point. If the gte hs to be moved mnully due to power cut or fult of the utomted system, use the relese key device. The device is inserted on the gte support brcket nd enbles you to relese the system from both inside nd outside the premises. Procedure for mnul lef opertion: 1) Open the protective htch (Fig.3 ref.b). 2) Insert the relese key in the lock (Fig.3 ref.c) nd turn it clockwise sense up to its stop point. 3) Pull the relese lever towrd you (Fig.3 ref.). 4) Move the lef by hnd. c RELEASE KEY b PROTECTIVE HATCH Fig.3 Procedure for restoring the system to norml opertion (Gte relesed): 1) Move the relese lever bck to its rest position (Fig.2) 2) Insert the relese key in the lock, turn it in the opposite direction up to the stop point. 3) Move the lef mnully until the lock hooks on the shut-down brcket. 4) Close the protective plug of the lock. MAINTENANCE Every 6 months, rrnge for qulified technicin to run functionl check of the system, with specil ttention to the efficiency of the sfety nd relese devices, nd to perfect opertion of the gte hinges. Also rrnge check of the quntity of oil inside the tnk - for ny topping up, strictly use OLIO FAAC HP OIL only.
