Foley Welcome to the latest editio of the Haddo Press, our official ewsletter updatig residets o Towship iformatio ad evets. % For the seveth year durig our elected teure, Haddo Towship residets will oce agai see a zero percet tax icrease for muicipal services. Our admiistratio approved a muicipal purpose tax totalig, $8,015, with the local rate of per $100 of assessed valuatio or 18.14% of property owers total tax bill. I 2016, the media average home is assessed at $224, ad will pay $7, i property taxes icludig couty, school, muicipal ad fire. Out of the total taxes levied, the Towship receives $1, for such services as police ad emergecy maagemet services, saitatio & recyclig collectio, sow removal, maiteace of roadways, improved recreatioal facilities, leaf ad brush pick-up, seior services, popular Towship evets ad more. The 2016 Water/Sewer budget has also bee approved with o cost icrease eve though New Jersey America Water cotiues to raise its rates. The budget process icluded a thorough cost/reveue aalysis, a hard look at the cosolidatio of govermetal fuctios ad activities ad a breakdow of the eeds ad goals of each muicipal departmet usig soud fiscal measures while maitaiig high level services to our residets. There are oly TWO phoe umbers you eed to kow to reach us. They are 911 or For crimes i progress or life threateig situatios, immediately call 911 (without hesitatio). Keep i mid if you dial 911 ad hag up for some reaso, a officer will be dispatched to the locatio of the 911 call to ivestigate further. Whe you call the police regardig a situatio requirig a police respose, the police dispatcher will ask several questios similar to those listed below. While we live i a great commuity, we are ufortuately ot immue to crimial opportuists, especially if we make it just a little too easy. This is ot blamig the victim, this is reality. Fortuately, there are several thigs you ca do, ad if you do them cosistetly, they will reduce the likelihood of becomig a victim. 2

4 GET INTO THESE SIMPLE HABITS Lock your car doors every sigle time you exit your vehicle. Always lock doors ad groud floor widows whe ot at home, ad check to make sure locks are fuctioig properly. Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road ad obey sigs ad sigals. Walk o sidewalks wheever they are available. If there is o sidewalk, walk facig traffic ad as far from traffic as possible. We have put together a few tips from the Natioal Highway Traffic Safety Admiistratio to remember to help keep you safer as you walk about tow, ejoyig the warmer sprig ad summer weather. Fourtee percet of all traffic fatalities ad a estimated 3 percet of those ijured i traffic crashes were pedestrias. The New Jersey Electroic Waste Maagemet Act was established i 2009 ad was desiged to create free ad coveiet programs for the re-cyclig of e-waste. This law baed the ladfillig or icieratio of electroic devices ad madated their re-cyclig. The primary resposibility fell o the electroics maufactures to provide this program to the residets of New Jersey. Due to the icrease i the volume of material collected ad chages i the market for cathode ray tubes (CRTs), a major issue has rise i the electroic re-cyclig idustry. This has shifted the burde of payig for these re-cyclig programs away from the maufacturers of the equipmet ad oto local commuities ad taxpayers. Idepedet re-cyclers ad state govermet officials are hopig to update the law ad help rectify the situatio. 8 O May 24th, Sustaiable Haddo Towship i cojuctio with the Haddo Towship Clea Commuities Program awarded the Sustaiable Haddo Towship Scholarship to Haddo Towship High School Seior, Joh Coa. The aual scholarship is offered as a iitiative to egage studets ad promote a sustaiable future by offerig a oe-time $ scholarship to a seior who is plaig to pursue a career i sustaiability, evirometal scieces, or a related field.
