If a team is reduced to one member during the day, they must link up with another team and walk with at least 2 trekkers for safety purposes. SAFETY Use extreme caution if you choose to wade / walk at the edge of the surf zone on the beaches. It is accepted that you re highly skilled in regards to road awareness and safety and will use your common sense, but you are also required to wear Hi Vis vest with reflective strips for all road crossings, road reserves and night walking, and obey pedestrian crossings and lights. In the case of extreme HEAT, Melbourne Coastrek will issue a Heat Alert and will contact all registered participants, staff and volunteers by SMS and at all Luv Stops. The Heat Management Policy will be put in place and is based on the assumption that ALL participants, staff and volunteers will abide by the recommendations issued on the day, which may include

4 MANDATORY WET STOPS (e.g. use of showers/ocean/ice), slowing down no running, hydrating well, and seeking assistance from the First Aid points if anyone in your team is unwell. If for any reason it is deemed unsafe to continue, the organisers reserve the right to adjust the route or cancel the event. Melbourne Coastrek Rules As a charity event our focus is on maximising the trekker experience and fundraising for The Fred Hollows Foundation. We are here to make a difference! While every effort has been made to map the route clearly and accurately we are unable to logistically police the entire Melbourne Coastrek route. So, with this in mind - at ALL times along the route you must follow the Purple Line on the maps and read the track notes these clearly define the route. Our goal is to keep you connected to the coast to maximise your Coastrek experience. To complete your team challenge with integrity, be eligible for an official placing and prizes, and to ensure all teams walk the correct route, please follow the maps and notes, and the following rules: 1. You must start and finish with the same 4 trekkers and stay together as a team, following the Coastrek route. 2. Your team must check-in together at all Luv Stops (aka Checkpoints) and Kiss Stop. All 4 Team Members must simultaneously present themselves to the check-in area. 3. You MUST wear your bib on your front and it must be displayed at all times. 4. We trust team members will participate in the true spirit of Coastrek (it is not a race - this is a friendly event and it is expected that all those involved participate with that spirit) and adhere to these rules. Any disputes will be handled at the discretion of Wild Women On Top. 5. Some sections of the route are tidal. There must be no water crossings that are higher than knee deep and teams must take the alternate routes as required. Use caution when walking at the edge of the surf zone on the beaches. 6. The course will be marked. However, it is important to practice the route in advance, particularly the sections you will be walking in the dark. You might like a compass for bush sections during training. Note: This route is on coastal tracks and suburban bush. It is NOT remote and navigation is not difficult. The Track Notes provide a detailed description of the route. 7. This map book gives a map overview, with the Purple plus White Dotted Line denoting the route, and the accompanying track notes providing further detail. Coastrek cannot take responsibility for any closures to the route which may occur as a result of public works or road works. Please call HQ and notify us of any hazards or potential route changes. 8. Please be quiet when walking near residential areas during early morning and at night. 9. Please observe and respect the directions of our volunteers and marshals at all times, who are giving up their time to make your walk a safe and enjoyable one. 10. Public toilets exist over the course of Melbourne Coastrek, but are less accessible after sunset for Council and security reasons. Find a toilet National Toilet Map The Stops have operational times. If your team doesn't reach one before the times listed below, we will be gone, and you will be required to withdraw from the event. Should you choose to continue, you do so at your own risk. 5 Disclaimer For safety and scenery reasons, Coastrek 30-60km Team Trekking Challenges allow for approximately a 3km variance on the route distances. We focus on finding you the Best of the Coast within roughly a 30 and 60k route, but due to the natural geography of the coast, locations that suit the start and finish points and other route changes imposed by authorities, the route distance on the day will not be exactly 30 or 60ks! And while every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of these notes and maps, Wild Women On Top accepts no responsibility for any errors or omissions nor for any loss or damage alleged to be suffered by anyone as a result of the publication of this map book, or as a result of the user or misuse of the information provided herein. Feedback and recommended corrections are welcomed. The actual Event Day route may vary, but it will marked accordingly and event marshals will direct you to follow the route as marked. Please always refer back to the website for the most up-to-date version of the Melbourne Coastrek Maps. * REPONSIBLE WALKING & CARING FOR OUR COAST * Remember that the Mornington Peninsula coast is a breeding area for the very endangered Hooded Plover. Please DO NOT WALK ON the sand dunes or vegetation. When walking on the beach stay below the High Tide Mark wherever possible and observe Hooded Plover nesting zone management signage and fencing at all times. Park Rangers patrol these areas on a regular basis and fines may apply for failure to comply with these conditions. We recommend that you use rubber stoppers on your Trekking Poles too. Definitions R = Right L = Left HTM = High Tide Mark m = metre km = kilometre SLSC = Surf Life Saving Club # # Km distance marker MOR ### PNP ### Mornington Peninsula Shire / Point Nepean National Park Emergency Marker.
