Mre than any ther ne thing, ur caches determine whether a child has a gd experience r a bad experience while playing in ur rganizatin, s please cntinue t d yur best t ensure that yur players are having fun while learning abut sccer during practice and games! BCSA wuld als like t take this time t remind ALL caches that ALL players must play a minimum f 50% f every game that they are present at. Any cmplaints that BCSA receives regarding a flagrant vilatin f the minimum 50% playing time rule by a cach will be taken seriusly and can result in that cach being reviewed by the Appeals & Disciplines Cmmittee. Fr yur reference, the Mdified Playing Rules fr all age divisins have been included in the cach flder and Law 3 details the minimum 50% playing time fr players in this age grup. We understand that caching can be hectic due t the ages f the players invlved and acknwledge that smetimes it can be difficult t track the playing time f players t ensure that the 50% rule is fllwed. Hwever, we ask that yu please d yu best t fllw the 50% minimum playing time rule t be fair t all players and give them the pprtunity t have fun playing sccer! 4 TOURNAMENT ROSTER REMINDER Caches, BCSA is a recreatinal sccer prgram and ur purpse is t prvide the pprtunity fr fun and recreatin fr the players, and t prmte the highest ideals f gd sprtsmanship, hnesty, lyalty, and curage thrugh rganized athletic cmpetitin. With that in mind, we wuld like t take this time t remind yu that if yu plan t enter yur team int any Nrth Texas sanctined sccer turnament, that yu must invite every player n yur rster t participate. This includes the BCSA hsted 2016 Spring Fling Turnament held n May 6 th 8 th. Any cmplaints that BCSA receives regarding a flagrant vilatin f this rule by any cach will be taken seriusly and will result in that cach being reviewed by the Appeals & Disciplines Cmmittee. Per the Big Cuntry Sccer Assciatin Cnstitutin and Bylaws: Any recreatinal cach wh knwingly and/r willingly drps a player frm their rster, r advises that player nt t play fr their team, whether thrugh direct cntact r cercin shall be called befre the Member Assciatin discipline cmmittee, and if fund t be in vilatin f the ffense, may be suspended frm caching. 6 Tips Fr Caching In BCSA On behalf f the Bard f Directrs f Big Cuntry Sccer Assciatin, we wuld like t thank yu fr vlunteering t be a yuth sccer cach. We understand that taking n this task can be very verwhelming at first, s we have cmpsed this dcument t use as a guideline t help get yu started n the right ft. Determine Practice Dates/Times/Lcatin: Prir t cntacting the players n yur rster, it is suggested that yu determine what days/times/lcatin that yur team will hld practice. We suggest that yu cmmit t a schedule that wrks best fr YOU since yu are the persn in charge f leading the practices. Players are ften invlved in ther activities utside f sccer, s yu wn t always be able t wrk arund the schedules f all the players. If yu have set dates/times/lcatins decided in advance, nce yu begin t cntact parents yu will be able t relay this infrmatin t them at that time. Suggested Practice Lengths: U5 & U6 At least nce a week, between minutes U7 & U8 Once r twice a week, between minutes U9 and lder Twice a week, between minutes Cntact Yur Players: If yu have cmpleted and passed yur backgrund check, yu will receive yur rster at the caches meeting. Please prmptly ntify the players that they have been placed n yur team within a week f receiving yu rster. The parents are anxius, s please d this ASAP. Please make sure EVERY child n yur rster has receives a PHONE CALL. Please d nt send an initial text/ . BCSA receives cmplaints frm parents that they were nt cntacted, and ften it is because a cach was trying t text a landline r was ing r texting a parent wh des nt check ften r des nt receive texts. Please CALL them, and then ask hw they prefer t be cntacted. Yu can cmmunicate in the preferred methd thereafter. Date f Caches Meeting: Saturday, August 13, 2016 Deadline t Cntact Players: Sunday, August 21, 2016 After August 21 st, if yu have nt cntacted yur players, the BCSA Bard will cntact yu AND the ffice will release yur cntact inf t any parents wh call frm yur team. Identify The Parents Wh Will Help: Any head cach, assistant cach, team mm, team manager etc. that intends t help the team MUST have a backgrund check, and we recmmend that yu identify tw r three parents t get backgrund checks s that yu have backup n game days in case yu r yur assistant are nt there. During the first week f practice, try t find thse parents willing t help in this effrt. Als, yu might have a parent n yur team willing t be the team mm r manager. If s, yu can let them handle unifrms and wh brings snacks and all f thse ther little details. This will free yu up t cach. Find A Practice Lcatin: It is up t yu t find a place t practice and t set the days and times f practice. The Abilene Natinal Sccer Cmplex: This is a privately wned sccer cmplex and the lcatin f all BCSA games. ANSC will rent fields t teams fr practices fr a fee. Please see the dcument in yur flder fr infrmatin fr reserving fields thrugh ANSC. BCSA des nt have any cntrl ver these fields and all requests must be made by t ANSC. Fr caches wh d nt want t pay fr a practice lcatin, sme ther ideas are city parks, schls r perhaps a nice frnt yard f ne f yur families. Gd practice lcatins are difficult t find, s gd luck. The schls and parks are run by the city and are free but reservatins are usually nt taken s shw up and hpe fr a spt. If the city asks fr prf f insurance, prvide them with yur team rster as prf that yu are cvered by ur insurance. Madisn Middle Schl, Rse Park and Mann Middle Schl are ppular lcatins. Unifrms: Unifrms are the respnsibility f each cach. If yu d nt want t handle this yurself, ask a mm t take it ver. PLEASE KEEP PRICES REASONABLE. We recmmend that yu keep the unifrm price t $40 r less. Yu can find jerseys/shrt sets n the Internet est. $20 each. Dn t just guess n sizes. Yu will have all kinds f prblems if yu d. Ask each parent what size each child wears. We d have a few High Five and Scre jerseys at the ffice if yu wuld like t see exactly hw the sizes run. Order within the first week f receiving yur rster, r yu will risk nt having unifrms by the first game. If yu d nt have unifrms by the first game, then just wear T-shirts f the same clr and the referees will be lenient. But rder quickly, and it will nt be a prblem.

7 Spnsrships: If yu have a parent r business willing t spnsr the team, yu can d that. But yu are respnsible fr prving where that mney is spent and hw it is used. If yu have a spnsr AND yu ask parents fr mney, yu better be sure that yu are explaining t them exactly what all the mney is ging tward. I suggest prviding written prf (receipts) t each parent f hw much mney was dnated and hw much mney each unifrm csts. Yu are ultimately respnsible fr that mney, and if we have cmplaints frm any parents we will investigate t determine if everything was n the up and up. Sprts leagues in Abilene have had parents criminally charged fr pcketing mney, and we d NOT want that happening t BCSA. Prtect yurself. Practices/Games: Keep it fun: Please remember that these are kids, and they are here t have fun. Make it fun. Als, every kid deserves t play. (Yu must play every kid 50 percent, but we hpe yu will d better than that. Sht fr 75 percent). Please treat every kid well, even the nes wh struggle athletically. Half f the teams in BCSA will lse mre than they win, but if the cach helps the kids and parents see that they are making prgress, and if the cach is encuraging, the kids still will have fun. Teach crrectly: If yu d nt knw much abut sccer, we can help. The Internet is full f great caching sites with drills and games. We als have bks and DVDs that yu can brrw. In additin, we will be ffering a free caching clinic taught by lcal cllege caches. Yu can find details f the cach s clinic in yur flder. Avid lines in practice, and try t d activities where each kid has a ball at his r her feet fr mst f the practice. We recmmend that yu spend the first part f practice wrking n ball skills (dribbling, shting, passing, etc.,); then spend sme time n strategy (crner kicks, thrw-ins, crssing, defending) and then finish practice with scrimmage. = Try t teach the kids what t d in practice and then let them play in the games withut screaming at them all game lng. See if they gt what yu were teaching them, and then g back and reinfrce in practice. Officials: Remember t respect the referees, even if they are just yuth referees. And make sure yur parents respect the referees as well.

8 NATIONAL F COACHING LICENSE COURSE AVAILABLE ONLINE THROUGH THE UNITED STATES SOCCER FEDERATION (USSF) US Sccer annunced at the NSCAA/US Yuth Sccer wrkshp this past January, the Natinal F Caching Schl. educatin/licenses/natinal f This new caching schl is the entry pint int US Sccer s Natinal Caching Schl prgram. This new caching schl is fcused n the U6 and U8 parent/vlunteer cach and is all On Line. The curse cntains tpics and vide clips f age specific fun activities fr the U6 and U8 sccer player. The On Line curse is hsted by the US Sccer s Digital Caching Center (DCC) web site. It takes abut 2 hurs t cmplete in a single setting. The curse ffers a stp, start, resume feature that allw the cach t take the curse as their schedule permits. The fee fr this curse is $25 payable t US Sccer at registratin. The fee includes a ne year access t the Digital Caching Center. The cach has 12 mnths t cmplete the curse after registratin. The On Line curse has 4 mdules: Kick ff, 1 st Half, Halftime, and 2 nd Half. T maximize cmprehensin and facilitate learning each mdule has a series f multiple chice questins that the cach must answer crrectly befre mving t the next mdule. Caches will have multiple attempts t answer all questins crrectly. As f May 15 th 2015, the Natinal F Caching Schl will becme a pre requisite fr the Natinal E Caching Schl. This curse has n requirements fr caches t attend a field sessin. BIG COUNTRY SOCCER ASSOCATION S PLEDGE TO YOU! It is recgnized that the players f BCSA can nly get better thrugh imprved caching. T imprve caching imprves and enhances a player's experiences with the game f sccer. T further BCSA caches skills, it is advisable that every cach in the recreatinal league btain, at minimum, the Natinal F Caching License. In an effrt t encurage caches f all age divisins within the league t becme licensed, BCSA will reimburse the full cst f this curse t ne cach, per team. In rder t be reimbursed fr the cst f the curse, the cach must register, pay fr, and successfully cmplete the Natinal F curse nline. After successful cmpletin f the curse, the cach will need t btain a cpy f the license and either bring int the BCSA ffice r submit it t the ffice by . Once the BCSA ffice receives cpy f the license, a check fr the full amunt f the curse will be issued and mailed t the cach. 9 Natinal "F" Caching License DESCRIPTION The F license is a 2 hur curse, cnducted entirely nline, intended fr all parents and caches f yuth players. The fcus f this grassrts curse is t share U.S. Sccer s best practices in creating a fun, activity centered and age apprpriate envirnment fr 5 8 year ld players. ELIGIBILITY The F license curse is pen t all applicants at least 16 years f age. WHAT TO EXPECT Taking the Curse: In rder t register fr the curse, candidates will first be required t sign up fr a user accunt in the U.S. Sccer Digital Caching Center a state f the art nline educatinal platfrm. The F curse is brken int fur key mdules: Kick ff, 1st Half, Halftime and 2nd Half. Each recreatinal player, when present at a game, shall be required t play a minimum f 50% f the time, unless the player s time has been reduced fr medical r disciplinary reasns, in which case the cach must ntify the player, and the ppsing cach prir t the beginning f the game that the minimum time has been reduced (nn-attendance at practice and nn-payment f fees may be cause fr disciplinary actin). 7. Substitutin Rule - Adults: FIFA rules fr substitutin will apply. 8. Teams shall be allwed the fllwing maximum number f players n its rster at any given time during the seasnal year. Charging the galkeeper in adult cmpetitins (per FIFA laws) is left strictly up t the Adult Leagues invlved. 2. It is nt intentinal hand-ball ffense fr any player t attempt t prtect the vital areas f his r her bdy (chest, crtch, face) by placing hands r arms acrss them t prtect them frm being struck at clse range by the ball. The match referee shall be the sle judge f whether the hands r arms were used t deliberately prpel the ball. 3. Caches and assistant caches are subject t the same game disciplinary prcedures by the referee as are the players, i.e., cautins and/r ejectins. 4. Under 10 and Under 9 n punting is allwed. 21 Changes EFFECTIVE this seasn t the 2016/17 Laws f the Game Effective JULY 1, 2016 fr the Nrth Texas State Sccer Assciatin, the fllwing changes t the Laws include: A kick-ff may nw be taken in any directin, including backwards. All players must be in their wn half f the field. There is n need t have ne psitined in the ppsing half t play the secnd tuch backward. (All kicking restarts must be kicked and "clearly mve." Only the penalty kick MUST be played frward.) An injured player is nt required t leave the field if the injury results frm a reckless (Yellw Card) r excessive frce (Red Card) ful, IF the treatment can be handled quickly. Galkeepers wh cme ff the line befre a penalty kick is taken will be cautined (Yellw Card) if the kick fails and the kick will be re-taken. If the kicker f a penalty kick vilates the Law, (e.g., kicked backward, excessive feinting r feinting upn reaching the ball, r a kick by an unidentified teammate) the kick will nt be re-taken. The restart will be an indirect free kick fr the defending team. If ppsing players leave the field as part f the nrmal curse f play and a ful is cmmitted by ne while ff the field, the re-start is a free kick n the tuchline r gal line as apprpriate. Fr example, a player ff the field hlds his ppnent t prevent him frm re-entering the field. Unless advantage is applied and realized, the referee wuld stp play and award a direct free kick n the bundary line. Depending n lcatin, this culd be a penalty kick. Offside restarts. Under current law, the restart was suppsed t be where the ffending player was first determined t be in an ffside psitin. Nw, the restart will be taken where the ffending player became ffside, i.e., invlved in active play. Thinking thrugh the pssibilities, it is nw pssible that the restart culd take place in the team's wn half when a player in an ffside psitin returns t his wn half t play the ball. A player wh has been instructed t leave the field fr an equipment issue can nw return t the field during play AS LONG AS they have been checked by the AR, r furth fficial, and the referee signals fr their return. In ther wrds, this situatin is nw treated like an injury return when the team is playing shrt. Any n-field interference by a substitute r a team fficial while the ball is in play will result in a direct free kick r penalty kick. (In the prir Law it was an indirect free kick fr interference by a substitute and a drpped ball fr interference by a team fficial.) Teams invlved in kicks frm the penalty mark will have the same number f kickers at the start and thrughut the prcess. Reduce t Equate will apply if a player frm ne team is sent ff during kicks as well. A mre cmplex revisin affects the referee's actins as a result f a ful which denies a gal r bvius gal scring pprtunity (DOGSO). First, nthing has changed if the ful meets the criteria fr DOGSO and ccurs utside the penalty area. Secnd, the type f ful nw determines the referee's respnse t DOGSO inside the penalty area. Fr example, a defender's miss-timed tackle in a legitimate attempt t play the ball results in a tripping ful in the penalty area.
