2 SECTION I CAMPUS REC INTRODUCTION: The Department f Campus Recreatin believes that while every individual shuld be allwed t determine the amunt f physical activity he r she receives, physical preparatin is as imprtant as intellectual preparatin in meeting the stress and demands f everyday living. With this philsphy in mind, we extend an invitatin t all students, faculty, and full time staff t participate in the varius sprting activities ffered by the department. If yu have any questins cncerning the Intramural Prgram, please cntact Campus MISSION STATEMENT: Intramural s at MTSU are designed t ffer diverse, structured, and enjyable physical activity pprtunities fr members f the MTSU Cmmunity. Thrugh healthy cmpetitin and sprtsmanship, participants are expsed t unique extra-curricular experiences in a recreatinal r athletic envirnment. PURPOSE: The purpse f this handbk is t establish plicies and prcedures that gvern participatin in the Intramural Prgram. 3 SECTION II GENERAL INFORMATION MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS/INJURIES MTSU and the Department f Campus Recreatin are nt respnsible fr any injuries received while participating in Campus Recreatin activities r while using any f the Recreatin Center facilities. Participatin in Campus Recreatin activities is cmpletely vluntary, and all participants are respnsible fr their wn welfare. We strngly recmmend that each participant cntact his r her persnal insurance agent fr infrmatin n cverage. All injuries requiring transprt when the campus health center is clsed will be taken t the lcal hspital. Any expenses incurred fr transprt r treatment f injuries is the sle respnsibility f the participant. EVERY PARTICIPANT THAT PLAYS AN INTRAMURAL SPORT MUST SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER EVERY SEMESTER. CONCUSSION PROTOCOL Definitin f Cncussin: A cncussin is a brain injury that is caused by a blw t the head r bdy. It can result frm cntact with anther player, hitting a hard surface, r being hit by a piece f equipment. A cncussin can change the way yur brain nrmally wrks and can range frm mild t severe. Cncussins present themselves differently fr each athlete. A cncussin can ccurring during ANY sprt at practice r cmpletin and can happen even if yu d nt lse cnsciusness. Signs and Symptms f a Cncussin (may include ne r several but are nt limited t the fllwing): Amnesia Cnfusin Headache Lss f Cnsciusness Balance prblems r dizziness Sensitivity t nise r light Nausea Feeling sluggish r grggy Cncentratin prblems Prtcl: Any participant that suffers frm a head injury and exhibits ne r mre f these symptms will be remved frm further participatin f any Intramural activity. The participant will be prevented frm playing in any Intramural activity until they prvide a nte frm the Student Health Center r their primary care physician clearing them t play. These ntes need t be given in persn at the Campus Recreatin Office. BLOOD-RELATED INJURY RULE Any player wh is bleeding must be replaced with a substitute until the bleeding stps. A member f the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff r a game fficial will remve a bleeding player. If by remving the bleeding player, the team falls belw the minimum number necessary t play fr the specific sprt, the game clck will stp and a maximum f (5) five minutes will be allwed fr the treatment f the player. Either a member f the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff r a game fficial must apprve the re-entry f the player. The five-minute time allwance is nly fr teams wh have n substitute when the player is bleeding.

4 SECTION II GENERAL INFORMATION CONT SERVICE ANIMALS ON FIELDS There are t be n animals allwed n the Intramural Fields with exceptin given t service animals. A service animal is defined by the ADAAA as any dg that is individually trained t d wrk r perfrm tasks fr the benefit f an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensry, psychiatric, intellectual, r ther mental disability. Assistance/Emtinal Supprt Animals are nt cnsidered service animals under the ADAAA. Rules regarding service animals and assistance/emtinal supprt animals can be fund here: STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES The Department f Campus Recreatin hires student emplyees in a variety f jbs. Mandatry training sessins will be required fr all emplyees t prepare them t wrk as fficials, prgram supervisrs, event assistants, screkeepers, and interns. Fr infrmatin abut these psitins, call the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr at Students willing t cmmit t wrking hurs per week and have knwledge f sprts are encuraged t apply fr jbs with Cmpetitive Sprts Prgram. Cme by the Campus Recreatin Office in the Recreatin Center fr mre infrmatin. PUBLICITY AND INFORMATION Upcming sprts and activities are publicized thrughut the year in the fllwing ways: Infrmatin can be accessed n the Campus Recreatin website s thrugh Fusin IM will have infrmatin regarding upcming registratins. The Cmpetitive Sprts Htline (898-4FUN) gives a daily-recrded message f annuncements and cancellatins due t inclement weather. Schedules and ther Intramural related infrmatin are lcated in the Campus Recreatin Office as requested. PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION Every student and emplyee is issued an ID, cmplete with a clr digital "pht," and their infrmatin is entered int the system. Fr this reasn the Cmpetitive Sprts Prgram asks that all participants have their MTSU I.D. with them when participating in ALL Intramural Activities. MTSU ID s must be turned in t the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff prir t the start f all Intramural cntests. Captains will be asked t sign fr their team s ID s at the cmpletin f each game. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR MTSU ID YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY INTRAMURAL ACTIVITIES. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS POLICY!!! INCLEMENT WEATHER In the best interest f all participants safety, Intramural cntests may be canceled because f inclement weather. The decisin t cancel games will be made at 4:00 p.m. n the day f the cntest IF POSSIBLE and will be recrded n the Cmpetitive Sprts Htline (898-4FUN). If play is in prgress and it begins t rain, the prgram supervisrs will make the decisin t cancel n the field and will place an annuncement n the Htline regarding the remainder f the day s schedule. Canceled games MAY be rescheduled by the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff later that seasn if field availability and time permits. LIGHTNING POLICY If clud t grund lightning is seen, all utdr Intramural cntests will be pstpned. Games will nt start until 30 minutes after the last seen lightning strike was seen. If in the middle f the 30 minutes, lightning ccurs; the clck will restart and wait anther 30 minutes. Intramural activities can begin again after the 30 minutes.

5 STUDENTS (UNDERGRADUATE / GRADUATE) SECTION III ELIGIBILITY Any clarificatin f rules r rule interpretatin will be determined by the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. All active Undergraduate and Graduate Students f Middle Tennessee State University are eligible t participate in any activity spnsred by the Intramural Prgram. The Cmpetitive Sprts Staff reserves the right t check with the Registrar s Office t cnfirm a participants status. Yu must have a valid MTSU ID t participate. NO ID, NO PLAY NO EXCEPTIONS! N persn shall use false identificatin in rder t participate. If caught, the persn will be suspended frm all Intramural and pssibly Campus Recreatin activities fr a perid f time determined by the Assciate Directr f Recreatinal Prgrams. Participants must be currently enrlled in at least ne class at MTSU. N Persn shall play n mre than ne single sex and C-Rec team per sprt. If caught ding s by supervisr r fficial, Player shall be suspended fr remainder f seasn and that game shall be frfeited. Oppsing team des nt have t prtest if caught by supervisr r fficial. Family members are nt eligible t participate in Intramurals. Alumni members are nt eligible t participate in Intramurals. FACULTY / STAFF PARTICIPANTS (FULL-TIME STAFF) Any clarificatin f rules r rule interpretatin will be determined by the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. This means they wrk full-time fr the university and receive benefits frm the university (Ex/ Health Care, Dental, Retirement etc.) Individuals wrking fr the university part-time r withut benefits are cnsidered ineligible. Withdrawals and Terminatins: Any participant wh terminates his/her ties with the MTSU immediately relinquishes his/her right t participate in the Intramural Prgram. ONLINE STUDENTS Students wh chse t participate in Intramural activities must cmplete all f the fllwing t becme eligible: 1. Must pay the $80.00 student activity fee* t the Campus Recreatin Center fr facility use and prgram participatin. 2. Students must have an MTSU ID created in rder t participate in Intramural activities if they dn t already have a current MTSU ID. 3. Online Students are still required t pay Intramural fees. *Online students d nt have the student activity fee included in tuitin, s t play Intramurals, they must pay it.

6 CURRENT STUDENT ATHLETES All varsity athletes wh are receiving any assistance by way f athletic schlarships shall be ELIGIBLE fr all Intramurals that is nt related t the sprt that they play fr the schl. Fr example, a ftball player cannt participate in Flag Ftball r Arena Ftball. Such aid is defined as fllws: Any aid, assistance, r benefit given t a student fr his/her participatin as a player in any varsity sprt that is nt available t the general student ppulatin. This includes, but is nt limited t, schlarship, varsity lckers, twels, green fees, apparel, ftwear, equipment, etc. Any athlete wh is wrking ut with the varsity team (including walk-ns, red-shirt players, and practice squad members) is cnsidered a student athlete under this sectin. This sectin remains in effect fr as lng as the student receives this aid, whether r nt they cntinue t play r practice with a varsity team. SPORTS CLUB ATHLETES Members f MTSU Sprt Clubs will be allwed t participate in Intramural cmpetitins in their related sprts. Hwever fr all single sex r C-Rec Intramural teams except fr indr sccer and utdr sccer, a maximum f three (3) Sprt Club players may appear n the team s rster. Fr Indr Sccer yu will be allwed fur (4) club athletes n the rster. Fr Outdr Sccer yu are allwed five (5) club athletes n the rster. With this rule, if yu wish t field a team f nly club athletes yu can, but yu will be penalized by having t play with the minimum f the field at ne time. If yu have even ne (1) sprts club athlete n yur team yu must play in the A League. Fr team sprts in which the required number f players is 4 r less, the maximum number f club players permitted n the team s rster shall be ne (1). A persn is deemed a Sprts Club Member if he/she participates in a club cntest r practice fllwing the designated tryut perid, pays club dues, r appears n the team rster r waiver frm. Once a persn has been deemed a club member, he/she will be cnsidered a club player with regard t Intramurals fr twelve cnsecutive mnths frm the date that he/she last participates in a club cntest r practice, last appears n the team rster, r the date f their mst recent signed sprt club waiver frm, whichever is latest. Remval f the persn frm any club rster des NOT affect his/her Intramural status as a Sprts Club player. Intramural players wh jin a club team during the Intramural seasn may be required t discntinue playing fr their Intramural team in rder t keep their Intramural team eligible under this rule. PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES All Current and Frmer Prfessinal Athletes are ineligible t participate in the Intramural r related sprt that they played prfessinally. An individual lses his r her Amateur Status and shall nt be eligible fr participatin in Intramural cmpetitin in a particular sprt if the individual uses his r her athletics skills (directly r indirectly) fr pay/cmpensatin in any frm in that particular sprt. Students that are allwed t tryut with a Prfessinal Team/Organizatin, remain eligible prvided that they d nt take part in any utside cmpetitin (games r scrimmages) as a representative f that Prfessinal Team/Organizatin. A Prfessinal Team is any sprts rganizatin that has Prfessinal included anywhere in the rganizatins title. Frms f payment include, but are nt limited t: All mnetary frms f cmpensatin, persnalized merchandise, husing accmmdatins, etc. Participants vilating this rule may be subject t disciplinary actins. Captains f teams that use ineligible players may be subject t disciplinary sanctins as well (See Team Captain s Respnsibilities). Prfessinal athletes include thse wh play n natinal teams. FORMER STUDENT ATHLETES/EX STUDENT ATHLETES A Student wh has been a member f a Varsity Team at a Fur Year Cllege r University in a particular sprt is eligible fr Intramurals in that r its related sprt during the next academic year. The Fall Term is cnsidered the start f the next Academic Year. Teams affected by this rule are limited t ne player in this categry n their team rster and must play in the A League. Graduates r transfers frm cmmunity clleges (D-II, D-III, NAIA, etc ) d nt have t sit ut a calendar year befre participating in Intramurals, but thse players must adhere t the A League Rule. An Ex Student Athlete wh drps r is drpped frm an intercllegiate team prir t the pening f the Intercllegiate Seasn, will be INELIGIBLE fr Intramural participatin until ne academic year has passed since their last fficial status with the sprt(s). Student athletes wh participate in varsity sprt events fllwing the pening f the intercllegiate seasn will be cnsidered student athletes under subsectin A regardless f whether they drp r are drpped frm the team during the seasn.

7 SECTION IV ENTRY PROCEDURE DIVISIONS OF PARTICIPATION Divisins f participatin are utilized t prvide a mre enjyable and cmpetitive atmsphere. If there is insufficient registratin in a divisin fr a sprt, divisins/leagues may be cmbined t allw fr a maximum participatin. INDIVIDUAL DIVISION Mst individual sprts are divided int Men & Wmen with individuals wh meet the divisin criteria participating. In sme sprts, pairings and turnament play may be determined by skill level r culd be based n the number and type f participants. TEAM DIVISIONS Divisins are determined fr team sprts by the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. There are a variety f divisins fr team play including Men, IFC, Srrity, Wmen, and C-Rec. Divisinal separatins may include A fr mst cmpetitive and B fr Less Cmpetitive if the sprt requires it. Activities will either be Turnaments r Leagues. MEN Only Male students, faculty, and staff may participate in the Men s Divisin. Males may participate in the C-Rec Divisin and the Men s Divisin. Rules f eligibility apply. League winners will advance t the Men s Playff Turnament t determine the Men s Champin. WOMEN Only Female students, faculty, and staff may participate in the Wmen s Divisin. Females may participate in the C-Rec Divisin and the Wmen s Divisin. Rules f eligibility apply. League winners will advance t the Wmen s Playff Turnament t determine the Wmen s Champin. CO-REC Teams are cmpsed f Males and Females with the rati f Males t Females in accrdance with the particular sprt rules. All students, faculty, and staff are eligible fr the C-Rec Divisin wh fulfills the requirements f the Rules f Eligibility. A persn may play n a C- Rec team and ne single sex team. The league winners will advance t determine the C-Rec Divisin Champin. IFC/PHC Only Greek Affiliated members are allwed t participate in these tw divisins. Team members must be current members and MTSU students t participate. All Intramural rules f eligibility will apply. See Greek eligibility rules r cntact the Cmpetitive Sprts Office if yu are unsure abut a persn s eligibility.

8 ENTERING A TEAM INTRAMURAL SPORT SECTION IV ENTRY PROCEDURE CONT Check fr entry dates and infrmatin thrugh any f the publicity avenues such as bulletin bards, Fusin IM, Intramural website, sidelines etc. Obtain a team entry frm the Campus Recreatin Office r Intramural website. Carefully cmplete the team entry frm. A team captain and c-captain must be listed n the entry befre it will be accepted. Late entries may be accepted with a late fee. Return the entry frm t the Campus Recreatin Office befre 5:00p.m.n the Registratin date. Attend Captains Meeting n Thursday at 4:00pm prir t start f activity. Teams must be registered n Friday by 10am prir t the start f activity All team members need t sign up n Fusin IM by 12:00pm n Mnday the week f the activity. Rsters need t be sent in by 12:00pm n Mnday the week f the activity. All players need t pay the Intramural fee ($15 per sprt, $30 semester unlimited play, $50 year unlimited pay) by nn the day the activity is played. There is a mandatry team captains meeting held fr all team Intramurals. Failure t attend this meeting will result in ne f the fllwing Frfeit fees being assessed t the team. Minr Sprt - $25.00 Majr Sprt - $40.00 *Teams will be suspended frm play if Frfeit fee pending is against them and will remain ineligible until payment f the crrect amunt has been made. ENTERING AN INDIVIDUAL INTRAMURAL SPORT Check fr entry dates and infrmatin thrugh any f the publicity avenues such as bulletin bards, Fusin IM, Intramural website, sidelines etc. Obtain an entry frm frm the Campus Recreatin Office r Intramural website. Carefully cmplete the entry frm. Return the entry frm t the Campus Recreatin Office with team payment befre 5:00 p.m. n the Registratin date. Register n Fusin IM as a free agent fr the sprt, date, and time desired. This can be dne by ging t the Rec Prtal under Fusin IM. The URL is All players need t pay the Intramural fee ($15 per sprt, $30 semester unlimited play, $50 year unlimited pay) by nn the day the activity is played. Attend Captains Meeting n Thursday prir t start f activity. There is a mandatry team captains meeting held fr all Individual Intramurals. Failure t attend this meeting will result a $15.00 Frfeit fee. CAPTAINS MEETINGS All captains meetings will be in the Large Meeting Rm n the Secnd Level f the Campus Recreatin Center. Captains must have their MTSU Student ID t enter the Rec Center fr meetings. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! While it is the respnsibility f the captain t attend this meeting, we are aware that circumstances may arise which may keep captains frm attending this meeting. If yu are unable t attend the meeting, yu MUST send a representative frm yur team t the meeting. There will be n exceptins t this plicy and thse teams failing t attend will be fined as stated abve. Captains are respnsible fr the fllwing infrmatin while attending the captains meeting: 1. Sign the attendance sheet t verify yur presence at the meeting. 2. Read and sign a captain s agreement t verify that yu understand the infrmatin that has been discussed and respnsibility yu have t yur team.

9 FREE AGENTS SECTION IV ENTRY PROCEDURE CONT Free Agents must fill ut a Free Agent Frm and turn it int the Campus Recreatin Office by 5:00 n the registratin date f the sprt they want t participate in. The Cmpetitive Sprts Office will then be in cntact with yu abut getting yu n a team r frming a team f Free Agents. Free agents need t shw up t the captains meeting t get n a team. Free agents are nt required t pay their fee unless they get n a team TEAM ROSTERS Captains will be respnsible fr players signing up n team s rster by 12:00 pm n Mnday the week the team is suppsed t play. Captains must make sure everyne n their rster pays the Intramural fee by 12:00 pm the Mnday f the event. Captains must als send a typed rster t mt.intramurals@gmail.cm by 12:00 pm n the Mnday the team is suppsed t play. Players perfrming fr an intramural team must be n the fficial team rster n Fusin IM. A participant s name shuld nt appear n mre than ne single sex rster fr ne sprt. Names can be added t a rster fr up t tw weeks during the curse f the regular seasn fr Leagues and any time during pl play fr turnaments, if they have nt participated with anther team. N names can be added after this tw week perid r nce single eliminatin play starts in a turnament sprt. Teams must be made n Fusin IM by 10:00 am the Friday befre the activity is played. If a team fails t register n Fusin IM, a fee will be charged and the team will frfeit all games until they have registered. All frfeited games will als result in a frfeit fee. ROSTERS ARE NOT TO BE TURNED IN AT INTRAMURAL CONTESTS. Rsters must be cmpleted n Fusin IM. Cmpetitive Sprts Staff will nt be respnsible fr rster s turned in at games, and all fees will still apply. N persn can legally participate fr tw different cmpetitive teams during any ne Intramural Sprt s seasn (i.e., if a persn has played ne game, he/she may nt jin anther team). Any player fund in vilatin f this rule wuld be INELIGIBLE fr the remainder f the sprt s seasn and that team will frfeit the game. Maximum rster limitatins will be set per Intramural Sprt fr Sprt Club members. A maximum f three will be allwed n single sex teams and fr C-Rec teams. Indr sccer the maximum fr single sex and C-rec is 4 and utdr sccer is 5. Minr Sprts may carry lwer rster limitatins. Teams wh attempt t carry mre Sprt Club members than they are allwed per Intramural Sprt will be subject t frfeiture f games and any frfeit fees that are apprpriate. A persn may participate in C-Rec activities and still be a member f ne ther cmpetitive team in the same sprt (Men, IFC, Srrity r Wmen s team). A player must play in at least (1) ne regular seasn game, regardless f a frfeit, default r bye, t be eligible t participate in play-ff games. Nne f the mentined abve three cunts as an fficial played game. If during the first tw weeks f the seasn yu have added players t yur rster at the game site yu must update yur Fusin IM team rster. If yu are ging t have a cach n yur bench yu must have this persn n the rster. Teams will be allwed a maximum f 1 cach per rster. This cach will be held t a higher standard than the ther participants and penalties will be mre extreme if this cach gets an unsprtsmanlike.

10 SECTION V CAPTAIN S RESPONSIBILITIES WHO CAN BE A TEAM CAPTAIN Students, Faculty and Staff frm their wn teams and register during the apprpriate dates and times as indicated by the Intramural Calendar. One team member must be designated as captain. The captain has t participate n the field with their team and their name must be differentiated n the typed rster. CAPTAIN S RESPONSIBILITIES The captain must be a playing member f a team. Captains must adhere t all Intramural team entry plicies and prcedures. Keep fully infrmed f eligibility rules and abide by them. This includes FULLY understanding player eligibility guidelines and cmmunicating this infrmatin t ALL team members. Keep in clse and frequent cntact with the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. Ntify all team members f the rules f the game, game schedules, and eligibility rules s that all are ready t play at game time. Ensure ALL players have a valid MTSU Student r Emplyee ID. We will strictly enfrce the NO ID, NO PLAY POLICY. ID waivers will NO lnger be used. Explain the use f prper and legal player equipment t include the use f NO POCKETS, bandanas, jewelry, etc. in ALL Intramurals. Represent his/her team at meetings, prtest negtiatins, etc. The captain is the ONLY individual allwed t prtest r seek ut rule clarificatin r interpretatin frm a Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. Ensure that his/her team adheres t the default/frfeit plicy. Ensures that any player(s) ejected frm an Intramural cntest schedules a meeting with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. Familiarize yur team members with the Sprtsmanship Plicy. Educate them as t the ramificatins f pr sprtsmanship bth fr the individual and the team. Verify yur team s recrd with the Cmpetitive Sprts Office by nn the day fllwing yur last regular seasn game and attend the Playff Captain s Meeting, if applicable. Call the Cmpetitive Sprts 898-4FUN (4386) fr infrmatin regarding his/her team s daily activities. The Cmpetitive Sprts Htline will be updated immediately if activities are t be cancelled fr the evening. Schedules will nt be given ut ver the phne and it is the respnsibility f the captain t check the Intramural Website fr any schedule changes. Ntify each team member abut medical injury cnsideratins as detailed in handbk. Remember it is the respnsibility f each individual t have their wn persnal insurance as MTSU and Campus Recreatin will assume n liability fr injuries which ccur during participatin. Prir t the game, sign in at the space designated fr team captain. Clearly, sprting cntests are imprtant t the participant, but the imprtance shuld nt becme s verriding that participants lse sight f apprpriate behavir. The playing field is nt a venue fr verbal r physical abuse fr the fficials, players, r the spectatrs. Ensuring participant safety, prviding a fun, scial atmsphere, and prmting sprtsmanlike behavir amng participants, spectatrs, and team fllwers are ur primary cncerns. The game atmsphere shuld remain gd-natured at all times. Participants shall maintain gd sprtsmanship thrughut their participatin in all facets f the Intramural Prgram. The team captain is respnsible fr the actins f any player n his/her team and fr spectatrs directly related t that team. The cnduct f all players and spectatrs befre and after the game is as imprtant as the cnduct during the game. Participants' sprtsmanship can affect the team's eligibility fr playffs. Infractins in cnduct nt nly pertain t Campus Recreatin grunds and activities, but will als include any harassment f Cmpetitive Sprts Staff members n all MTSU prperty as well as in places f business in Murfreesbr and n all frms f scial media. CHEATING Any participant r team/rganizatin fund guilty f cheating will be disqualified and placed n prbatin with the pssibility f being suspended frm the MTSU Intramural Prgram. The fllwing actins are examples f, but nt limited t cheating: Participatin under an assumed name r with an illegal Identificatin Card Misrepresenting a scre Participating under suspensin Participating under the influence f alchl r drugs Vilating any eligibility rules Knwingly participating as a frmer prfessinal and r cllegiate athlete INDIVIDUAL CONDUCT Any individual wh cmmits, attempts t cmmit, r lends aid t thers in the act f miscnduct shall be subject t disciplinary prcedures by the Department f Campus Recreatin, The Office f Student Cnduct, and by lcal authrities if s necessary. Individuals are defined as players, caches, managers, and spectatrs. TEAM CONDUCT A team is respnsible fr the actins f individual members f the team and spectatrs directly related t the team. The cnduct f players and spectatrs befre and after the game is as imprtant as the cnduct during the game and rganizatins are held respnsible fr their team as well as their fans cnduct. Individuals nt listed n a team s rster will NOT be allwed t sit n the players bench. Any team whse sprtsmanship is judged unsatisfactry by the game fficials and/r Cmpetitive Sprts Staff will be disqualified fr the remainder f the seasn. The Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr will ntify the team captain f the team s disqualificatin. Teams will be encuraged and warned by the game fficials t cnduct themselves in a sprtsmanlike manner, but the game fficials have the authrity t stp any cntest withut warning if the cnduct pses a threat t the safety f the Intramural participants and/r emplyees.

This includes, but is nt limited t: Arguments with fficials and staff by any player, cach, manager, r spectatr flagrant fuling, and fighting, etc. befre, during r after a cntest. N player, cach, r team shall: 1. Use ful r dergatry language, threaten, r verbally abuse any ther participant r Cmpetitive Sprts Staff befre, during r after the game. This includes trash talk. 2. Participate in a game fr which he/she is ineligible. 3. Argue with r berate a game fficial. Only the captain may address the fficial and nly if dne s in a respectful manner. 4. Intentinally strike, push, trip, r flagrantly ful anther player. 5. Mistreat the facility, equipment, r supplies f Middle Tennessee State University. Individual Penalties: Any individual wh receives tw (2) unsprtsmanlike fuls during a game will be immediately remved frm that cntest and asked t leave the premises. Players remved frm an Intramural cntest will be subject t a minimum ne (1) week suspensin frm all Intramural activities. Individuals wh have been suspended will als be asked NOT t attend the games f their teams during the suspensin perid and will be asked t leave if they are knwn t be ding therwise. Any individual wh receives three (3) unsprtsmanlike fuls during an Intramural semester will be subject t a minimum ne (1) mnth suspensin frm all Intramural activities. Individuals wh have been suspended will als be asked NOT t attend the games f their teams during the suspensin perid and will be asked t leave if they are knwn t be ding therwise. Suspensin perids will be heavily based n the actins f the participant prir t the ful and in the perid after the ful has been cmmitted. Team Penalties: Any team wh receives three (3) unsprtsmanlike fuls during a game will autmatically frfeit that cntest. Teams will als be excluded frm the playffs in that particular sprt and may als be subject t ther restrictins in the sprt which they are participating depending n the actins f team members prir t any incident and after the incident has ccurred. If the team r rganizatin has multiple fuls in multiple sprts the team may be subject t further implicatins at the discretin f the Intramural Staff. Any team wh receives five (5) unsprtsmanlike fuls during an Intramural semester will be subject t disqualificatin frm ALL Intramural activities fr a perid f time at the discretin f the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. Suspensin perids will be heavily based n the verall actins f the team and will begin nce the team captain has met with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. Captain Penalties: If a captain f a team receives ne (1) unsprtsmanlike penalty in seasn r turnament play he/she will be suspended fr the remainder f that activity. As captains yu are held t a higher standard than ther participants and yu are expected t be an example fr yur fellw teammates. Caching Penalties: Caches are nt needed t participate in Intramural. If a cach is used they will be held t higher standards than a nrmal participant. If a cach receives an unsprtsmanlike penalty r technical ful they may nt be allwed t be n the team s bench nr sideline the rest f the year. Once they have received the penalty they are required t meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr t determine their penalty.

13 SECTION VII EJECTION, REINSTATEMENT, PROBATION, SUSPENSION Participants and spectatrs that chse t practice unsprtsmanlike behavir befre, during, r after a cntest, directed tward an ppnent, fficial r an Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member may be ejected frm that cntest. A cntest fficial, Cmpetitive Sprts Supervisr r a member f the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff may administer the ejectin. Examples f unsprtsmanlike cnduct which will result in ejectin include, but are nt limited t, the use f prfanity, vulgar and abusive language, disrespect twards any fficial r Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member, unnecessary rughness, excessive technical fuls, flagrant actins tward an ppnent, flagrant actins tward an fficial, and fighting r inciting a fight. Any participant ejected frm a cntest/game will be suspended indefinitely until they meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. If the next semester is the summer semester then the prbatinary perid may carry ver int the fall semester. If a participant(s) and r team(s)/rganizatin(s) is invlved in any ther disciplinary circumstances in that semester and/r the preceding semester, they will be suspended fr the remainder f the schl year and pssibly the next Semester depending n the severity f the incident. If a participant(s) r team(s)/rganizatin(s) are sanctined and it is cnsidered "late" (60 days left in the semester) in the semester, their sanctin(s) will carry ver int the next semester. If the next semester is the summer semester, then their sanctin will carry ver int the succeeding fall semester. This rule als applies t playff games r last regular seasn games. The sanctin will crssver int anther sprt/event. PARTICIPANT / TEAM EJECTIONS Any persn/participant that is ejected frm an Intramural cntest must immediately leave the intramural area but nly after speaking with Cmpetitive Sprts Staff. The participant(s) will jepardize his r her teams/rganizatins game status if they d nt cmply and may be subject t further disciplinary actin. That persn will be given a maximum f five (5) minutes t leave the area. If MTPD has t be called due t the ejected player(s) nt wanting t leave the premises and/r disrupting a game/cntest, that participants(s) will be subject t a minimum ne year suspensin frm all Intramural cntests. This suspensin will begin after they have met with the apprpriate Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member and a ruling has been determined regarding the incident. The participant s team will frfeit the game in which the incident ccurred. Leaving the Playing Area Any player, cach, r spectatr wh is ejected frm an Intramural cntest as a result f unsprtsmanlike cnduct shall be required t leave the facility immediately. Failure t cperate with the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff and leave the facility immediately will result in the intercessin f the MTPD. Autmatic Suspensin Any player, cach, r spectatr wh is ejected frm an Intramural cntest as a result f unsprtsmanlike cnduct is autmatically suspended frm all Intramural cntests until fficial reinstatement. Destructin f Prperty Any player, cach, r spectatr wh willfully causes the destructin f r damage t equipment belnging t Campus Recreatin & Intramural shall be held respnsible fr all subsequent damages and any csts f repairs r replacement PROBATION All participants that are ejected frm an Intramural Cntest/event will be placed n prbatin fr a determined amunt f time. If it is cnsidered t be late in the schl year, then the prbatinary perid may carry ver int the next semester; if the next semester is the summer semester, then the prbatin may carry ver int the fall semester. If during this prbatinary perid they are invlved in any Cmpetitive Sprts Department disciplinary prceedings they may be subject t permanent suspensin fr an additinal perid f time.

Such actins will result in the immediate interventin f the MTPD, pssible criminal charges, and the case will be sent t the Office f Judicial Affairs fr review. Please be aware that any and all types f verbal and/r physical abuse tward any Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member will nt be tlerated under any circumstances. Attempted Physical Abuse f Cmpetitive Sprts Staff Physical cntact by a participant with intent t intimidate r harm an Intramural Staff member r ppnent shall result in a minimum ne year suspensin frm all Intramural cntests. This als includes an attempt t strike, even thugh there may nt be cntact. (Ex. Excessive physical cntact w/participant, Head Butting, Thrwing Punches) Fighting Any team, its individual players, and assciated spectatrs that are invlved in a team fight (mst r all the team members r spectatrs present) will be immediately suspended frm further participatin in ALL Intramural. This is the minimum ne year suspensin which will likely be increased, depending upn the severity f the incident. In additin, individual instigatrs/participants that are identified will be subject t individual disciplinary sanctins. Leaving the bench area will cause the team(s) t frfeit the cntest and its team members t be suspended fr a minimum perid f ne year. A team will include all participants listed n the game sheet at the time f the fight. Members that are nt present will nt be subject t suspensin. SUSPENSION Player(s) ejected frm an Intramural cntest will be suspended frm all Intramural fr a mandatry minimum f (1) week. These suspensins include all activities during that week in which the participant may be invlved. Any player suspended frm an Intramural cntest will als have t cmplete all reinstatement prcedures befre any suspensin will begin. All participants/players and rganizatins/teams that are ejected frm a game/cntest will serve a minimum (1) ne game suspensin and prbatin fr the remainder f the schl year. Mre games may be given if the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff deems it apprpriate. All suspensin will be fllwed by a prbatin perid fr participants (see Prbatin sectin). Each incident will be reviewed n a case-by-case basis. LIFE TIME BAN (INTRAMURAL OFFICIALS) Any participant(s) that is invlved in any type f inapprpriate physical cntact, gestures, spitting, verbal attacks, r ther cmbative actins directed tward an Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member will be suspended frm all Cmpetitive Sprts prgrams fr the remainder f their academic and/r prfessinal career and frm any alumni events at Middle Tennessee State University. Further disciplinary actins may be pursued if warranted. Any abusive remarks r threatening language directed tward an Cmpetitive Sprts Staff member that is cnsidered unsprtsmanlike will place that persn r peple n autmatic prbatin fr a ne year time perid and/r suspend them frm all Intramural activities permanently. Each case will be reviewed n an individual basis. LIFE TIME BAN (FIGHTING) Any and all types f illegal physical cntact, gestures, spitting, verbal attacks r ther cmbative actins invlving spectatrs, players, caches, captains, teammates, and/r Cmpetitive Sprts Staff members will suspend that participant(s) frm all Intramural cntests fr the rest f his r her academic r prfessinal career and frm any alumni events at Middle Tennessee State University. Depending n the severity f the incident, further disciplinary actin may be warranted. Any and all types f vilence will nt be tlerated. "She/He hit me first," r "I was defending myself" are nt acceptable excuses fr fighting.

15 SECTION VII EJECTION, REINSTATEMENT, PROBATION, SUSPENSION CONT TEAMS LEAVING THE BENCH / SIDELINE AREA Any team/rganizatin r player that leaves the bench/sideline area during an Intramural cntest t engage in an altercatin fr any reasn will be suspended fr a mandatry minimum f ne game. Leaving the bench area will als cause the team(s) t frfeit the cntest, be put n prbatin and pssibly becme suspended fr the remainder f the semester, (depending n the nature f the incident). Furthermre, they must cmplete all reinstatement plicies & prcedures. The "Late in the Semester Rule" applies. REINSTATEMENT Any participant(s) ejected frm an Intramural cntest will be ineligible fr any future cmpetitin until they meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. The Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr will make a ruling n the length f the suspensin. The suspensin will nt begin until after the suspended persn has satisfied all reinstatement criteria. EJECTED PARTICIPANT / TEAM REINSTATEMENT CRITERIA All ejected participant(s), teams/rganizatins must meet r attempt t meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr within 24 hurs/ne business day (Mnday Friday 8:30am 5:00pm) f the incident. N individual will be reinstated befre they have met with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. After the initial meeting with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr, the ejected participant(s) must submit a typed written letter f reinstatement (Duble spaced, 12 Fnt, Times New Rman) utlining the events surrunding the ejectin, the individual s actins that led t the ejectin, and assurances as t hw this type f behavir will be avided in the future. This letter must be submitted within 48 hurs / tw business days (Mnday Friday 8:30am 5:00pm) f the initial meeting with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. If this letter is nt submitted t the Cmpetitive Sprts Office, the ejected player will be suspended indefinitely. ALCOHOL POLICY In accrdance with MTSU Plicy, alchl cnsumptin prir t participatin r during an Intramural cntest is nt nly unsafe, but als a vilatin f university rules, and if yu are underage, illegal. As a reminder, the Cmpetitive Sprts Staff strictly enfrces the zer tlerance alchl plicy during all Intramural cntests. Cnsequences fr this vilatin f the rules may include but are nt limited t: being prhibited t cntinue participating in Intramural activities, judicial referral; and, in egregius situatins, arrest. Any individual wh chses t break campus plicy will be subject t disciplinary prcedures by the Department f Campus Recreatin, The Office f Judicial Affairs, and by lcal authrities if s necessary. Individuals are defined as players, caches, managers, and spectatrs. This plicy pertains t any time prir t Intramural activities, during play, and after the activity has ended. SIDELINE / SPECTATOR GUIDELINES Only fficials, players, and ne cach are permitted n the field f play. SMOKING and ALCOHOL use n the Intramural Fields is PROHIBITED fr all participants and spectatrs. Failure t cmply with all Intramural Rules and Regulatins fr the fields by spectatrs will result in immediate expulsin f the spectatrs and pssible frfeiture f the game. Teams and their fans are nt permitted t bring glass r metal cntainers t the field s cmplex. Only clear, plastic bttles will be allwed n the Intramural fields. NO PLASTIC CUPS WILL BE ALLOWED. Furthermre, t ensure participant safety, NO PETS will be allwed n the Intramural Fields during any activity. Vilatrs will be remved frm the Intramural facilities with the pssibility f frfeiting the game. Any team wh fails t clean up their sideline/bench area after a game may be frced t frfeit their game, charged a $50.00 frfeit fee, r subject t having their sprtsmanship grade lwered.

Team captains r playing members will always be acknwledged first. Team captains are respnsible fr keeping their fans under cntrl. Any player r fan wh uses ful language, vilently prtests a call, r curses at an fficial r supervisr will be ejected frm the game. Assigning sprtsmanship ratings t teams will be at the fficial's and/r supervisr's discretin. Any player wh tuches an fficial r supervisr will be suspended frm all Intramural fr an indefinite perid f time. Any player ejected frm a game due t unsprtsmanlike cnduct will be ineligible t participate in any Intramural Sprt until he/she meets with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr. RATING SYSTEM The Intramural Prgram cnducts a sprtsmanship rating system fr participating teams during Intramural cntests. Intramural fficials and supervisrs n duty will rate each team n their sprtsmanship at the cnclusin f the game. A team is disqualified frm making the playffs if their average sprtsmanship rating at the end f the regular seasn is belw a 3.0, regardless f the team s recrd. Teams that receive a 0 rating fr any game during the regular seasn must meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr in rder t be eligible t play in their next cntest. IF A TEAM SHOULD RECEIVE A RATING OF 1.0 THEY WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE LEAGUE. Teams that receive a 1 rating fr any game during the regular seasn must meet with the Cmpetitive Sprts Crdinatr in rder t be eligible t play in their next cntest. IF A TEAM SHOULD RECEIVE A SECOND RATING OF 1 THEY WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE LEAGUE. 0 Pints: Seasn Ending Rating The fllwing actins can result in a 0 sprtsmanship rating. Teams receiving a 0 will be dismissed frm the league immediately. Team is cmpletely uncperative and ut f cntrl befre, during, r after Intramural cntest(s). The team presents utstanding character during cmpetitin and interacts with fficials and ppnents in a sprtsmanlike manner. The team represents a perfect example f what MTSU Intramurals strive fr. Very Gd: Rating B 4. The team fully cperates with fficials and supervisrs and presents a gd attitude. Team receives n warnings, ejectins, yellw cards, unsprtsmanlike fuls r technical fuls. Acceptable: Rating C 3. Team engages in few arguments with fficials and supervisrs, and is awarded a maximum f ne unsprtsmanlike vilatin. Belw Acceptable: Rating D 2. Team cnsistently engages in arguments with fficials and retains an verall bad attitude twards ppnents. Maximum f 2 unsprtsmanlike vilatins. Pr: Rating F 1. Team maintains n respect fr fficials and/r ppnents and has cmplete disregard fr the safety and well-being participants and staff. The captain has n cntrl f his/her team. The team receives 3 r mre unsprtsmanlike vilatins r game cmes t an end due t pr sprtsmanship. Frfeit: Rating 0. Team lses by frfeit. *TEAMS WHO RECEIVE A 1 OR BELOW SPORTSMANSHIP RATING WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MAKE THE PLAYOFFS IN THAT SPORT AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ISSUES BY THE COMPETITIVE SPORTS COORDINATOR. SPORTSMANSHIP RATING SYSTEM EXTRA S Teams must maintain a 3.25 during Regular Seasn play t be eligible fr the playffs. Teams may nt receive less than a 3 if they are nt penalized with an unsprtsmanlike penalty. Teams winning by default r frfeit will receive a rating f 4. Teams lsing by default will receive a rating f 3. Team lsing by frfeit will receive a rating f 0. At the end f the seasn the average f these scres, which will be psted n the website will be cnsidered the team s Sprtsmanship Rating fr the seasn t be taken int accunt when advancing t the playffs. Games that are nt cnducted due t inclement weather and/r the inability t reschedule due t time cnstraints, limited field spaces r any unfreseen circumstances will result in a Sprtsmanship Rating f 4 fr bth teams. Teams must maintain a 3.5 during playff cmpetitin. If after 2 games a team has failed t meet this requirement they are subject t remval frm the next rund f cmpetitin. PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT SPORTSMANSHIP A team must maintain its 3.5 average r better sprtsmanship rating during the playffs. The average will include regular seasn and playff games. A winning team which receives a sprtsmanship rating f 1 t 2.9 in a playff game is subject t dismissal frm further turnament play and shuld be prepared t petitin the Intramural Office n the next business day t remain in the turnament. If the team is allwed t advance, it must receive a sprtsmanship rating f 3.5 r higher in all remaining playff games. Any team which receives a sprtsmanship rating f 1.9 pints r belw during the playffs will be immediately dismissed frm further turnament play and subject t further disciplinary actin as a team in subsequent sprts, as individuals when apprpriate, r t the team captain. A lsing team which receives a sprtsmanship rating f 2.9 r belw in their final playff game is subject t further disciplinary actin as a team in subsequent sprts, as individuals when apprpriate, r t the team captain. Individuals wh display pr sprtsmanship fllwing a playff cntest in which their team wh been defeated will be subject t suspensin fr upcming Intramural activities. Suspensins may carry ver frm ne semester t the next if it is necessary. PARTICIPATION IN EXTRAMURAL TOURNAMENTS If yu participate in an extramural turnament yu are representing the MTSU Intramural department. Because f the affiliatin with ur Intramural department yu must behave as if yu are participating n campus. If yu receive an unsprtsmanlike penalty r technical ful in the extramural turnament yu will serve a minimum suspensin f ne (1) semester frm all Intramural activities.
