1 Parents, On July 28, 1956 Forest (Hink) Albertson and Patricia (Pat) Borski were married at St. Mark Catholic Church. They were highschool sweethearts that had just graduated a few months earlier from Sacred Heart High School. He was a three sport athlete and she was a cheerleader. His dad worked at General Motors and her father worked at Detroit Diesel Allison. He had several offers to play college athletics, she had other plans. What started 60 years ago as two young people in love, continues today as two people whose love has grown each day. I am sure it started as a date in high school between two young people, one whose father used to come to his games and sit behind the bench and share his sometimes unwanted vocal support, the other whose father kept things in his garage in such a neat order that even the nuts and bolts had their own labeled jar. It continues today as a couple who serve as an example for what married life should be. My recollection of my parents marriage is from my point of view, so I apologize if sometimes I get the facts incorrect. I know that Pat and Hink, both attended Catholic school growing up. He attended St. Patrick s Elementary near Garfield Park and she attended St. Catherine's and then St. Mark Catholic School starting in 1948 when it opened. They both came from strong Catholic families, both blue collar, hard working, keep your yard mowed and your family fed type of southside families. Their families were large and included all sorts of characters. The gifts of being from a large family is many. I can always remember my father calling a relative to fix something. Either a plumber, a mason, a builder, an electrician or a police officer (for advice only!). My parents continued this gift by having five children by the time they were twenty five years old, then adopting my brother when he was three years old. The gift of a large family continues today with their six children, their spouses, many grandchildren and great grand children. I did not appreciate my parents love for each other as fully until I became married. I look back at the times when I witnessed the many emotions that goes along with a couple that was married when they were 18 years old, had 5 children in 5 years, raised their children to work hard and worship the Lord. I marvel at the how their marriage has not only weathered many storms, but has grown stronger because of them. From births to deaths to everything in between, their marriage of 21,900 days has been an example of friendship, partnership and love for each other. In today s world, the sacrament of marriage is sometimes not seen as a sacrament, but more as an event. The wedding is often the high point of the marriage for some. The idea of for better or for worse, is not adhered to. 60 years ago, my parents recited their vows. I am not sure of the exact words they spoke, but I can tell you that when they said them, they meant it. They live those words each day, some days not as clearly spoken as others. They have inspired other couples to get married and served as examples of what the sacrament should be.

2 My parents greatest gift to me has been their example of love for each other. While you wouldn t know it some days, they not only put up with each other, they are inseparable as a couple. Pat and Hink are often said as one word by the people that know them. They have allowed others to witness a great love affair between two people that God has brought together. They epitomize what God had in mind in Mark 10, 6 9: But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. I love my parents for many things they have given me and provided for me over my 54 years, but the greatest gift that they have given me is the example of what a marriage should be. Not perfect. Not all white picket fences and shutters, but sometimes barbed wire and broken glass. Disagreements, looks of despair, followed by forgiveness and the give and take that all marriages must go through. Throughout 60 years they have seen and experienced it all. They have weathered storms, and seen the sunshine bright together. They felt happiness and joy together. They have experienced birth and death together. My prayers for my parents are that God will continue to use their marriage as an example to others. That he keeps them healthy and in good spirits. That he watches over them as they continue to grow closer. My prayers to God is one of thanks. I don t tell my parents often enough that I love them, but I do. May God bless Forest and Patricia Albertson as they live the sacrament that God has united them with. 6 RHS SEEKING TO EXPAND ITS POOL OF TUTORS As our guidance counselors meet with students and teachers regarding tutoring needs we would like to provide as extensive list of qualified, recommended tutors as possible. If you or someone you know has the skill set necessary to tutor high school students and would be interested in being added to the list we supply students and parents please have them send their credentials and contact information to RHS principal, Chuck Weisenbach, at We specifically are seeking tutors in mathematics, English, chemistry, biology and Spanish. RONCALLI WRESTLING We are very happy to be kicking off our first season of the Rebel Wrestling Foundation in September. This program is designed to introduce our athletes to the great sport of wrestling and create genuine interest and awareness among both parents and children in this exciting and rewarding sport. RWF is also designed for the more advanced wrestler, as we will provide opportunities that will allow the athlete to continue to grow and flourish in our sport and in life. One of the reasons we love wrestling is that the sport instills a great number of positive life skills and traits. Some of the things your child can gain from our sport include: Self Reliance, Self Discipline, Self Confidence, Self Respect, Sportsmanship, Responsibility, Work Ethic, Competitive Spirit, Goal Orientation, Mental Toughness, Drive & Determination, Respect for Others, Hard Work, Perseverance, and Physical Fitness. We are very proud of the organization and structure this wrestling club provides for the development of our youth. Football players and cheerleaders from the Class of 1992 will also be honored at this event.
