(206) 398-GOSU This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women s soccer team hits the road for their longest trip of the season this weekend, as the Redhawks (10-5) travel Austin, Texas to face the University of Texas ( overall, Big 12) on Sunday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT. and the game will be broadcasted live on the Longhorn Network. Last Time Out: The Redhawks scored three second half goals and went on to earn a 3-1 victory at CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 14. The game marked SU s second consecutive match where they scored three goals in the second half. Freshman Taylor Ritzman scored the game-winner off classmate egan Daniels second assist of the game. Also scoring in the match were sophomore Shawna Anderson and junior Emma Levy. During her 14 coaching seasons, she boasts 13 winning seasons, establishing her as the winningest coach in SU women s soccer history with a overall record and a.704 winning percentage. Seattle University s former two-time NAIA All-American soccer player came home to her alma mater as the head coach of the Redhawks women s soccer program over a decade ago. She has coached the Redhawks to three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2004, 2006 and 2007). A 2004 Far West Coach of the Year, she boasts three NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II honorees, 18 Far West Region selections, three GNAC Player s of the Year, eight GNAC all-conference team honorees and 27 players who have earned NAIA All- America accolades. Her team s have also boasted great academic success in her tenure, including a 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year, five CoSIDA ESPN The agazine Academic All-Americans and 20 CoSIDA ESPN The agazine All-District selections. SU s game at Texas this Sunday, Oct. 23, will be featured on ESPN s Longhorn Network. Anne arie Anderson and onica Gonzalez will be calling the game live from Austin, Texas. Doubling Up: The Redhawks earned their 10th win of the season at CSUB on Oct. 14, marking their 14th winning season over head coach Julie Woodward s 15-season tenure. Ritzman Score Game-Winner: Freshman Taylor Ritzman made her first career goal a memorable one at CSUB on Oct. 14. Her 65th minute goal was the eventual gamewinner in SU s 3-1 victory over the Roadrunners. This season she s seen action in 13 games, starting one. She now has a goal and an assist on the year. On the year, SU is 8-3 away from home and 2-2 at Championship Field. Daniels Dishes: Freshman egan Daniels dished out a pair of assists at Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 14, including assisting on Taylor Ritzman s game-winner. The match marked the newcomer s first career multi-assist game. Second Half Surge: This season Seattle U is outscoring opponents 12-7 in the second half. In the past two games they scored six second half goals after scoreless first halves. The Newbies: Freshmen egan Daniels, Taylor Ritzman and Stephanie Verdoia have made major impacts in the lineup this year. The trio has gotten in on the scoring game, providing a game-winning goal apiece. Verdoia is the only newcomer to start in all 15 games this season and is the team s offensive leader. The outside midfielder has tallied four goals and a pair of assists for 10 points. The Connection: Senior Jordan Salisbury and sophomore ary Hill have 2011 Redhawk Women s Soccer proved to have an undeniable connection this season. The duo has connected on four SU goals this season, with Hill feeding all four assists to Salisbury, including a recent game-winner versus Hawaii on Oct. 9. The Woodward Tally: Head coach Julie Woodward reached the 200-win milestone on Sept. 18, in SU s 3-1 victory over San Diego State. She is the No. 5 winningest coach in SU history in a single sport and the winningest women s soccer coach in program history. The Captains: Senior goalkeeper adison Goverde and senior defender Renee Vandermause will captain the 2011 Redhawk squad. Final Year of Independence: 2011 will mark SU s final season playing as an NCAA DI Independent. On July 1, 2012 Seattle U will officially join the Western Athletic Conference as full members. UNLV NIKE Invite Champs: The only team to go 2-0 at the UNLV NIKE Invitational, the Redhawks earned their first tournament title of the season. They defeated host-unlv and San Diego State. 4

5 One For the Books!: SU s 2-0 shutout victory over then-no. 8 Portland was the biggest win in Redhawk women s soccer program history. It also marked the highest ranked opponent an SU team has defeated since reclassifying back to Division I Redhawk Women s Soccer Scouting Texas: The Texas Longhorns are coming off a 3-2 double overtime loss at Texas Tech on Oct. 16. UT (9-5-1 overall, Big 12) is in their last three games heading into this weekend s match up. UT is outscoring opponents this season and their offense is headlined by Hannah Higgins, who s dished eight assists and scored three goals for 14 points in 15 starts. Kylie Doniak is the squad s scoring leader, with five. Defensively, Texas Alexa Gaul has started in all 15 games this season. In 1377 minutes, she s tallied a 0.98 goals against average, 48 saves and five shutouts. Ava Vogel saw 21 minutes of action between the pipes, posting a pair of saves in her off the bench minutes. The Last Time Seattle U Faced Texas: This will be the first match between the Redhawks and Longhorns in program history. 5
