4 Meeting Information This month s Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, February 5th, 7:00PM At Larry Schubert s house 3451 Bear Canyon Sedalia, Colorado (303) This month s board meeting is open to any member wishing to attend. An event chairperson should plan to attend the board meeting prior to his or her scheduled event. The CSCC general meeting this month will be held at the Inn at Garden Plaza located at 2520 International Circle on Thursday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. Off of Pikes Peak go south on Parkside (by Colorado Music Hall) then go east onto International Circle. Park on the south side in unmarked spaces or on the street. Come through the main entrance and take the elevator down to 1 and go to the Recreation room just outside of the elevators. Immediately following the meeting, we will enjoy dinner and refreshments at Luigi s at 927 S. Tejon St. All guests are welcome. Regional Banquet Cindy reported that she and Cheryl Randel have been working on it. It will be at the Embassy Suites again, since we can t beat the deal they give us. People will pay full price for their meals, so there will be very little cost to the Region. The date is March 8 th. New Business: 2008 Racing Numbers Numbers for the 2008 season will become available at midnight on January 1 st are reserved for the 2007 champions. All other numbers must be requested annually Calendar All clubs provided dates for planned events in The only conflict was between DCA and DtRC on Memorial Day weekend. The two clubs are considering combining their events and making this the RMR Roundup event for 2008, since Casper is no longer a Regional and the RMR needs income. Convention Attendance The Governors voted unanimously to award Region points for attendance at NCCC Conventions. 15 points for attendance plus 5 points for each event entered. We need to show up en masse at Tulsa to promote our convention. Pg. 4 Pg. 33

5 Competition Director s Report: The new rulebook was approved for one year. It is only available electronically. Every renewing member should get a CD and it will be on the website in PDF format. John will see about getting one printed for each Governor and Regional Officer. The RCDs now have someone on the NCCC finance committee. Region sanction numbers will stay the same format as they were in 2007 to help avoid confusion with national sanction numbers. Make sure that flyers and results have the correct sanction number. Flyers for region sanctioned events need to state whether NCCC rules and guidelines will be used. If not, then the guidelines that will be used must be listed so entrants know what to expect. Waivers are to be taken very seriously and protected much the same as you would the cash box. The Governor should have waivers and the K & K insurance packet at all events. The event chair should have all the insurance paperwork if the Governor won t be there. It is the responsibility of the event chair and the club Governor to ensure that results and waivers are to the RCD within 15 days after an event. They must also check to be sure that everyone receiving points signed the waiver. Results should be ed using the form appropriate for the type of sanction. Waivers must be mailed. The host club and its members can lose their points if they are out of compliance. When you have a morning autocross and an afternoon autocross, if someone is only coming to the afternoon event, you need to make sure they sign the waivers and also give them a drivers meeting before they are allowed to run. A one-on-one is acceptable. It is not necessary to give the drivers from the morning session a second drivers meeting if there are no significant changes from the morning event. You do not have to allow late arrivals to walk the track. Larry thanked everyone for the prompt paperwork he received this year. The points are calculated and the top 15 men and ladies are already posted on the Region Website. Ties were broken only for the purpose of assigning car numbers, by the number of events attended. 201 men and 102 ladies earned points almost 50% of our members. Regional Executive s Report: Cindy attended the November NCCC Governors meeting as proxy RE. The big news, of course, is that we won the 2009 Convention bid by a 2 to 1 margin. Also, Cindy was elected to serve as the NCCC Secretary. Old Business: Elections All current Regional Officers were re-elected. No corrections. Treasurer s report was read by Nancy K. and approved. Regional patch sales netted about $1700, helping out the treasury a lot. $1,000 is budgeted for the 2007 awards. John received a $500 donation from an anonymous donor that will be used for the awards banquet. With dues coming in, we should be able to stay in the black this year. Membership Director s Report: We ended the year with 692 members in our Region. Ellouise thanked the Governors for submitting their clubs dues by the Nov. 19 deadline. We lost the Hellgate club in Missoula this year and have not heard from Treasure State in Helena. Pins and planners for renewing members were distributed to the Governors present at the meeting. Because of new post office regulations about lumpy envelopes, NCCC will no longer mail them. They will be sent to the Governors as new members join. Rob s filler photo. Details at Calendar: Updated from website in newsletter Convention Update: Walt Jenkins - Nothing to report Club Charity: Larry Lukenbill - The bylaws specify we select a new charity for the year during the January meeting. Since the club didn t have notice of this during the prior month presentations were entertained during January and February meetings for new charity. Vote will during February for our 2008 charity. Please bring your suggestions to the February meeting. During the January meeting the following charities were presented: Make a wish Camp Wapiapi (incorrectly spelled) Downtown trolley museum Praying hands ranch (see page 23 for more information) America s family Pagosa Springs Car Show: Pete Olejnik - A proposal was made to move the event to August There are pros and cons to this idea. New Web Master: There was no coup-de-tat. Walt is extremely busy with the 2009 convention. Since we recently, last month, voted in a professional web developer into our club, it was a great opportunity to get his help and free up the 2009 convention lead s time. 16 Greetings Some of the better things we have done as a club, in my opinion, have only happened once. We seem to be in a rut and I think we need change and choices. All of us joined the club for different reasons, but I feel that the bottom line is the people and the cars. So if we are to incorporate the above two C s we need to do it with people and cars in mind. Someone mentioned to me about a garage tour that they had done with another car club that they belonged to. Another member mentioned that they wanted to do a Cruise-In to a local drive-in and have dinner and an impromptu car show for the public. I think these are great ideas and I encouraged these members to set it up and make it happen, but I was informed that it conflicted with other events that were already planned. In my mind that is not a valid excuse, because not all of us like to do some of these events that are already planned and might enjoy doing something entirely different, such as the aforementioned ideas. We live in a beautiful state and traveling to various locations for a weekend is another great adventure that we can do together. John Gue put together a great weekend trip up to Estes Park a couple of years ago, and I think that all who went had a great time. I asked if he would do the same this year and he told me that to do so would conflict with already planned events and take workers and participants away from them. Again, an invalid excuse because we do nothing that gets 100% participation, and if we are able to put something together that gets more people out with each other, in their cars, we are meeting our goal as a car club, as I see it. Not all of us care about points or if the event is sanctioned or not, we just want to have an enjoyable time with people who have a like interest. By implementing some of these thoughts and others you might have, we can get more of our membership out there enjoying their beautiful cars and each other s company. The worst that could happen is that you would have to chose between two things that you would like to do at the same time, but life is about choices isn t it. If any of these ideas tickle your fancy, or you have others that you would like to see implemented, please let me know. If you are willing to put something together that is all about the people and the cars, and is totally different, don t be afraid because, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Pg. 16 Larry Pg. 21
