2 March Meeting Minutes The March meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Vicki Ury. Treasurer s Report Paul Thompson reported on the current funds available. February Meeting Minutes After a couple of corrections were noted, the February meeting minutes were approved as printed in the March newsletter. CSCC Charity Check Presentation Alta Olejnik presents a $900 check to Eddie Bracken, representative of Black Forest Together, our 2016 designated charity. The $900 represents 1/3 of CSCC renewal dues. New Fleet Manager Mike Neufeld announced his promotion to Commercial Sales and Fleet Manager for Daniels Long Chevrolet. Not to worry, though. Mike will still be doing Corvette retail sales and he remains our Corvette liaison. Mike gives thoughtful and special attention to our Club members that some of us never hear about. Thank you, Mike, and congratulations. Guests were introduced by Jeff Scott. Two new members were voted in. Welcome Mark (Michelle) Black, and Warren Saunders. New Cars - Upgrades & Misc News Carol Reel has a new 2016 yellow Z06 in her garage. Also Hoosier slicks 18 and 19 if anyone is interested in them. Tom Ury reported an incident of rounding a curve, running over fallen rocks on snowy night, causing immediate oil loss. In less than 15 seconds, just time to pull over and shut off engine, the engine was toast. Happy ending, insurance is covering cost of engine replacement, but fair warning, the engines of today allow for no forgiveness time in loss of oil. Pat Strauch shared an evening out opportunity with free tickets for band performance at Stargazers Theatre March 18. Long time member Bob Braidwood plays in the Collective Groove Band. Another club member, Jim Mesite also plays in a regularly performing band. Prospective member Mike Southwell offered several factory Corvette service manuals he and his father have gathered. Specifically, he has C-5, C-4, and 89 ZR-1, and others. He will bring some to the next meeting for anyone interested. 2 nd CSCC Autocross Timing Training Walt Jenkins and Lorren Loewen put on an outstanding 2 nd training. With Tom Ury s documentation, and only a little review and tweaking, our new trainees are ready for the autocross racing season. Our club member volunteers are key to putting on great events. Merchandise Update New members were encouraged to check out the CSCC merchandise inventory, including shirts, hats, and sweatshirts. Museum Update: Barrett Benson reported the 2017 Grand Sport will be on display at the National Corvette Museum April Bash. Other things to be offered are restoration of a Corvette damaged in the sink hole, car care and maintenance. It will be a great time to visit the museum. Volunteers Needed As we prepare for the busy sanctioned event season, all events need volunteers, for a couple of hours, half a day, or all day. If interested, ask for specifics on each opportunity. Club Trailer - One such need is two to three club members with a truck to move the Club trailer back and forth from the Corvette Center to PPIR. Waiver Signing All entrants to our autocrosses must sign an NCCC insurance waiver. A couple of people are needed at each event at PPIR. Other opportunities, Tech Inspection; posting run times, registration Rocky Mountain Region Update Governor Lorren Loewen reported on his attendance at the NCCC National Governor s meeting February in St. Louis, MO. The Rocky Mt Region donated $1,000 to FCOA Future Corvette Owners. The Families Helping Families program is being introduced. There have been some changes to leadership at the national level. The National Charity Director position is open. Walt Jenkins was named IT Director. Congratulations, Walt. NCCC has selected three choices for a national charity: Lyons Club International, Shriners, and St Judes. There will be a straw vote at the April meeting to identify CSCC members choice. Standing Rules Annual Review Tom Hoeppner reported that with a couple of month s notice, nothing was submitted as suggested changes to be considered for the Standing Rules annual review. The review is thus closed. CSCC Facebook - Tom Hoeppner reported, in light of technology changes, visits to Facebook have decreased significantly, and it seems to just be a duplication of what is already available on the webpage. As Facebook Czar, Tom presented the option to the Board to discontinue CSCC Facebook. The Board agreed. With a majority straw vote of members in attendance, the Facebook will be terminated. Much thanks to Tom Hoeppner for faithfully managing the Facebook for the past several years. Upcoming Events Check the Events Calendar on the webpage for even more events, specific information, updates, and online registration. Brian Dahl also donated some coveted Super Bowl 50 shirts. 50/50 Drawing- Collected $182- $91 goes to General Fund, $91 won by Nancy Jenkins. Good News/Bad News Suitcase - After putting off the return of the suitcase by Bob Balink for two months due to snow affected meeting attendance, the suitcase finally came up for bid. With several people bidding, Curtis Haynes was the grand winner with a bid of $75. The suitcase will be returned for another round of bidding at the May meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. and everyone pitched in to stack the chairs. Page 2 of 10

Mike Curry, John Williams, Roger Miller, Diana Dittman, Rick & Ann Prescott, Bob Balink, Chris Capshaw, Joe Horvath, Tom Ury, St Patrick s Day Parade Whether you were observing or participating Saturday, March 12 th was a wonderful day for the Saint Patrick s Day parade. The weather was terrific and there was plenty going on downtown at and around Acacia Park. The club had 7 cars participate in the parade. It was warm, so the one hour wait to join the parade just allowed time to socialize and get to know each other better. The crowd enjoyed the Corvettes; lots of cheers and requests to rev your engine. It was a great way to spend part of St. Patty s Day. The 7 cars span 40 years of Corvette evolutions from '75 - '15. 5 The February NCCC governors meeting was called to order by Dave Heinemann. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, something that's not done often enough. The next order of business was the introductions of new and old regional and national officers. Dave announced the appointments for NCCC Standing Committees and the Social Media and IT Directors which, included our own Walt Jenkins as the new IT Director. Congratulations Walt! The national officers reports included an update on the 2016 Convention, "Roar Into Omaha". There are approximately 250 members signed up for the convention at this time. According the convention chairs everything is on schedule and they are looking forward to a great week of fun and camaraderie. I hope a lot of our members take advantage of a convention that is so close to home. The NCCC is seeking a national charity to which the proceeds from the car raffle will go. During the April club meeting our members need to decide between the Lions Club, Shiners or Saint Jude as which charity the club would like to see as the NCCC charity. These three charities were the final choices of the selection committee out of sixteen submitted. It is the presidents desire to have input from all the clubs rather than just the NCCC officers having the say. The NCCC is also seeking a Director of Charity if anyone is interested in a position at the national level. There was discussion on the Families Helping Families program. This program is being set up to assist members when traveling that may need some sort of assistance whether it be need of a mechanic, place to stay or just advice. Members are encouraged to go on the NCCC web site and sign up for the program. Walt Jenkins gave a check to Pat Kelly, Director of FCOA, on behalf of the Rocky Mountain Region for $1, as a donation to the Future Corvette Owners Association. I hope to have lots of new information and updates from the NCCC after the governor's meeting in April. By Lorren Loewen Families Helping Families A new NCCC initiated program for NCCC members. We would like this program to be available for use by all current NCCC members. If you are traveling and something would happen to you or your car, wouldn t it be better to have a fellow NCCC member to help you out instead of a stranger? To make this program successful, we will need to enlist your Club and Region s assistance. Each Region Executive is asked to forward this information to each of the Governors in their region to sign up at least two or more club members from each individual club to be on the contact list. We hope out of each club member that signs up, we would have someone that has mechanical knowledge, someone with a trailer, someone with a spare bed and if someone wanted to stop and have a cup of coffee and conversation that we have someone sign up for just that. If you decide to sign up, then you have agreed to provide assistance for free to help a fellow NCCC member. You have made a commitment to respond as soon as you can or to find someone else who can. We don t want someone to wait for hours just because it may be in the middle of the night. If it is you needing help, you would want someone to respond as quickly as possible. We would hope that the person receiving assistance would offer some type of appreciation, maybe help with gas money or even lunch. This list will not be used for outside Solicitations or Distribution. It is to be used for NCCC member assistance. Please do not use this list to ask about what tires to buy or if you are looking for a particular part unless you have broken down and this is the kind of assistance you need. Do not make a mailing list for solicitations or jokes from this list. Please utilize this list for the purpose for which it was created. Each member of NCCC will be informed on how to access this list by information provided by the club s governor. A separate form will be used for you to volunteer and that can be found on the NCCC web site below. The information you provide will be in a secure non-publicly linked, password-protected area. The password will change once a year (minimum). We ask that the Family Helping Family form or information on the form be sent to the Director of Public Relations who will manage the program; Denny Luther can be reached at address PublicRelations@corvettesnccc.com or cell phone number Page 5 of 10

8 Barrett Benson Corvettemuseum.org YOUR REAR END AND MORE Your Rear End: In old days (the 60 s for me), there much was to-do about rear end differential gear ratios. Having only 2 (automatic) 3, or 4 speeds to deal with, the final drive ratio (number of engine turns per one revolution of the wheel) became a huge deal. Most of us were into drag racing at the time and to get the most power out of your car you want the engine red line to max out just after you hit the timing lights ¼ mile down the road. Some of the numbers from the factory were 356 s or 3.56:1, 411 s or 4.11 to 1, and the real hard core guys had 456 s and 513 s. This is the numbers you hear on some the music of that era. If you had the high ratios, you could expect very lousy gas mileage on the highway and maybe 4000 RPM or higher at freeway speeds. Today s cars are usually in the low 3 s because we have more speeds in the transmission that can allow for low RPM s in high gears and still have the first 4 gears for max power delivery. Just imagine you are driving in 3 rd or 4 th gear in your C7 all the time on the freeway. I do love technology. Center Caps: One of our members submitted this tip, especially for those of you with late model Corvettes: On many cars, the center cap on your factory aluminum wheels is loose and can spin and rattle a little. If you have one of these, they can easily fall off, and they are not cheap to replace. A quick fix is to take the cap off by carefully prying it off and wrapping it with a single layer of electrical tape and reinstalling it. Tom Ury CORVETTE PRESERVATION & 2017 GRAND SPORT PRESERVATION When you visit the National Corvette Museum you ll enjoy viewing both permanent and shortterm displays. Currently the Museum is remodeling an area for a new permanent display, dedicated to the care and maintenance of its extensive Corvette collection. You can watch the 1962 black sinkhole roadster being restored, or observe historic icons being maintained and preserved. Also, the new Maintenance and Preservation area will host seminars and training classes on Corvette care, maintenance and basic mechanics. GRAND SPORT The new 2017 Corvette Stingray Grand Sport (GS) was introduced to the public on March 2 nd at Geneva, Switzerland s International Motor Show. In the USA, the 2017 GS will be revealed at the Museum s Michelin Bash on April th. The Grand Sport combines lightweight architecture, a track-honed aerodynamics package, Michelin tires and a naturally aspirated engine. Corvette engineers adapted the chassis tuning, upgraded cooling systems, and performance technologies of Corvette s Z06 to give the GS a capability commensurate with its racing-derived history. For the first time, buyers can equip the GS with the Z07 performance package to add carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 summer tires, and the down-force carbon-fiber aero package, producing a potent track Corvette. Available as both convertible and coupe, the GS features specific front fender inserts, a Z06 style grille and wider rear fenders, and hash-mark front fender stripes in 6 colors. A GS Collector Edition will be available later in the model year, sporting an exclusive Watkins Glen Gray Metallic exterior with Tension Blue hash-mark graphics, satin black full length stripes, black wheels and a unique Tension Blue full leather and suede-wrapped interior. NOTE: I ll have $10 raffle tickets at the April meeting for a 2016 Torch Red convertible offered by the Museum; drawing April 30 th at the Michelin Bash. Page 8 of 10
