12 Corvette Club 2011 Bylaw Proposed Change Summary A number of grammatical, spelling, and punctuation changes were made to improve the flow of the documented text, but none changed the meaning of the bylaws. Global Name-Change within the Bylaws There are numerous references to Daniels Chevrolet in the existing bylaws. The committee proposes a global change to the name to Daniels Long Chevrolet. The committee has verified there are no changes of meaning to text based on the name change. Article II Section 1.0 Member 2 nd Paragraph - The committee proposes deletion of the entire paragraph listed 12

13 in italics below which defines and supports unique lapses of membership. The deletion simplifies the bylaws by stating any lapse in membership means a person choosing to rejoin the club must go through normal membership requirements. B. In the event a previous CSCC member in good standing has let their membership lapse, period of lapse has not exceeded two years and individual cannot have resigned, requests to rejoin, they must make a renewed membership request at a business meeting, still own or be the principal operator of a Corvette, and be voted into membership by a majority of the members present at that meeting. Individuals seeking membership renewal under these guidelines need not meet the guidelines for membership required for first time members. Individuals who have membership renewed under these guidelines are subject to dues & fees as set forth in the Financial Policy (See Standing Rules and General Policies). This renewal policy may be used only once. In the event a member lets their membership lapse and this policy has been utilized for reinstatement previously, the policy for obtaining membership as a first time member shall govern in the event the member seeks membership reinstatement. Article II Section 1.3 Charter Member The committee proposes deletion of the entire paragraph, as the text (in italics below) defines dues requirements for a Charter Member. Since are no longer any members that meet the listed requirements, there is no need to define dues or date requirements. (Assuming the change is approved, Section 1.4, under Article II will be renumbered as 1.3.) Anyone who paid dues before October 18, 1962 will be known as a charter member. 13

14 Section 2.0 Membership Sub-paragraph 2.4 (Paragraph is not titled) The committee suggests adding the words end of the so that members can pay their membership dues until the end of the November business meeting versus having to pay them prior to the meeting. If approved, the updated wording would be as follows (with the added words shown in larger text in the italics text below): 2.4 Membership will automatically lapse if not paid prior to the end of the November business meeting. Article III - Section 5.0 Notice of Meetings The committee suggests adding the word (shown in larger text in the italics text below) so that notice of meetings can be sent via and not just via text in the Newsletter or via phone calls. This will allow the Secretary to just send an to let those that do not want a hard copy of the newsletter to get notice that the newsletter or meeting notice is posted on the web site. 14

15 The new paragraph would read as follows: Notice of business and special meetings stating the place, day, hour, and purpose will be given by the Secretary to the members via newsletter, or phone roster call not less than seven (7) days nor more than fifteen (15) days before the meeting will take place. Colorado Springs Corvette Club Facebook Page As of October 6, 2010, we have our own Facebook page. 18 Air Force Basketball Game December 11 th, 2010 It s believed that this event was the first of its kind for the club and everyone that attended had a great time. Tickets were furnished (to members, families, and friends) by a couple people donating their Air Force football season ticket stubs, which in turn could be traded for free game tickets. We ended up having 18 people attend, and the group got to see Air Force beat North Carolina Central (73 56). One of Barb Hoeppner s co-workers (Frank) bought his two boys (Matthew and James) to the game and they got to Clune Area early which ended up being a great choice. The 2 young men were selected to compete in a fun half-time show where they had to put on a supersized basketball outfit (including shoes); run down the court to grab a basketball; the dribble the basketball back to the basket and try to make a shot. It was a very close competition, but a fantastic shot ended the competition. Unconfirmed rumors indicate both boys were talked to by professional basketball scouts, but that no signing commitments were made. Time will tell. Matthew and James ready to start the competition. 26 Manitou Springs Snowflakes and Smiles Parade December 11 th, 2010 Our Club had another fun-filled event as it participated in a parade in historic Manitou Springs. Fortunately the weather cooperated, and the club provided what was the largest motorized entry in the parade. Thanks to Kelly Zajicek chairing the event and our club participation, there were a lot of extra smiles placed on the faces of the kids and adults watching the parade, AND on the faces of the drivers and riders in the Corvettes. What a fun time! While the pictures show some of the cars and decorations, there were a number of WOWs heard as the cars went by and a few of the tuned exhaust pipes explained what real power sounds like. I can definitely say that there s not much that can beat the smile on a child s face as they wish you a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays but I think one of the funniest things I heard was one of the Cub Scouts right behind our car as he kept on repeating/ shouting Merry Christmas PEOPLE!
